The first six new Lazar-2 multi-purpose armored vehicles for Serbian Armed Forces to be received before the end of the year.

Serbia was intending to procure 12 new Lazar-2 multi-purpose armored vehicles (delivery of the first batch of 6 armored vehicles is currently expected in December 2016) for Armed Forces and more than 20 armored vehicles with 12.7 mm gun for Gendarmery. Serbian Armed Forces have interest in buying 200 armored wheel-type vehicles as infantry fighting vehicle (IFV).

The new-generation Lazar 2 8×8 multi-role armoured vehicle designed and manufactured by Serbian defence company YugoImport-SDPR was unveiled at the Partner International Fair of Defense Systems and Equipment held in Belgrade, Serbia, in June 2013.

Based on Lazar BTR-SR-8808 mine-resistant ambush protected (MRAP) vehicle, the enhanced Lazar 2 offers high-mobility and is operable in all terrain conditions.

The vehicle is equipped with a rear ramp for easier entrance and exit, and has two doors embedded within that ramp for emergency situations. It also features a separate door for the driver and commander, located on the driver side. It features five bullet proof windows and firing ports on each side of the vehicle, as well as two on the rear of the vehicle. This allows the troops inside the vehicle to have a high situational awareness and to engage targets from inside the safety of the vehicle. The driver has five cameras, which provide him with a near 360° field of visibility. Two are located in front of the driver’s hatch, two are covering the sides of the vehicle, and one is installed in the rear of the vehicle to aid with reverse driving. In the IFV configuration, it seats three crew members and nine troops.

The Military Technical Institute Belgrade (VTI) and BB Composite has unveiled an improved version of new «Pegaz» multifunctional unmanned aircraft complex at military parade in Novi Sad.

On the occasion of 72 years since the liberation of the city in World War II, military parade was held on the banks of the Danube river, where was unveiled the «Pegaz» unmanned aircraft complex with anti-tank missiles.

The «Pegasus» is a surveillance and reconnaissance system initially developed for the Serbian Army and export.

Development of the Pegaz UAV commenced in late 2010. A prototype of Pegaz, designated as Pegaz-011, was unveiled at the Partner 2011 International Fair of Armament and Military Equipment defence exhibition held in June 2011 in Belgrade, Serbia. The Pegaz-011, built by BB Composite, made its first flight in October 2011.

The drone also took part in Partner 2015 exhibition, as well as in DSEI 2015 Defence and Security Equipment International exhibition held in London, UK.

Dimensions include a length of 17.7 feet, a wingspan of 20.8 feet, and a height of 5.8 feet. Empty weight is listed at 265 pounds with a Maximum Take-Off Weight (MTOW) nearing 510 pounds. Performance specifications include a maximum speed of 125 miles per hour, a cruising speed of 90+ miles per hour, a range out to 62 miles (endurance window of about 12 hours), and an operating service ceiling of 3,000 meters.

La Russie va livrer 6 avions MiG-29 à la Serbie

En 1999, lors de l’intervention de l’Otan au Kosovo, une bonne quarantaine d’avions de combats des forces aériennes de la République fédérale de Yougoslavie (réunissant la Serbie et le Montenegro) furent détruits au sol, dont 33 MiG-21 (acquis en 1962) et 10 MiG-29.

Depuis, les forces aériennes serbes ne comptent plus que 4 MiG-29 en état de vol ainsi qu’une vingtaine de MiG-21 d’après le guide « World Air Forces 2016″ édité par FlightGlobal. En clair, leurs capacités ne sont pas significatives, d’autant plus que ces appareils sont en grande partie dépassés sur le plan technologique. Pire même : si rien n’est fait, elles pourraient perdre toute capacité opérationnelle d’ici deux à trois ans.

Seulement, les moyens financiers pour éviter cette situation sont très contraints alors même que l’acquisition de nouveaux avions de chasse est considérée comme étant prioritaire à Belgrade.

Finalement, la Serbie a trouvé un accord avec la Russie. D’après les médias russes et serbes, le président Poutine a donné son accord pour céder 6 MiG-29 aux forces aériennes serbes, à un prix très compétitif étant donné que ces appareils seront modernisés et révisés par l’industrie russe de la Défense dans le cadre d’un contrat estimé à environ 50 millions de dollars.

Par ailleurs, Moscou a également proposé à Belgrade, et à un « prix d’ami », le système de défense aérienne BUK. Mais le gouvernement serbe a refusé l’offre, les 60 millions de dollars qui lui aurait fallu débourser étant hors de sa portée.

Pour des raisons culturelles et religieuses, la Serbie entretient de très bonnes relations avec la Russie. D’ailleurs, le président serbe, Tomislav Nikolic, a estimé que l’accord sur les 6 MiG-29 était un « signe de coopération sincère, de confiance et d’amitié » de la part du Kremlin. En outre, au début du mois, les deux pays ont participé, avec la Biélorussie, à un exercice militaire aéroporté ayant mobilisé plus de 700 soldats.

Pour rappel, et contrairement à d’autres pays de l’ex-Yougoslavie, la Serbie n’envisage pas d’adhérer à l’Otan. En revanche, elle fait partie des pays candidats reconnus, en mars 2015, à l’admission dans l’Union européenne.

Russia has agreed a major arms donation package with Serbia, following state meetings in Moscow on 21 December.


Russia has agreed to donate Serbia with an arms package that includes six MiG-29s and 30 T-72 tanks. (PA)

The main part of the donation is for six surplus MiG-29 'Fulcrum' fighter aircraft, a long-standing requirement for the Serbian Air Force. Also included in the deal was a donation of 30 T-72 tanks and 30 BRDM-2 armoured reconnaissance vehicles.

Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic and Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu agreed on the donation on 21 December, with the formal agreement document expected to be signed on 23 December.

La Biélorussie fait don de huit MiG-29 à la Serbie




La Serbie va récupérer huit chasseurs biréacteurs MiG-29 et deux systèmes de missiles BUK en provenance des stocks de l'armée de la République de Biélorussie. L'annonce a été faite par le ministre serbe de la Défense Zoran Dordevic lors d'une visite en Biélorussie fin janvier. Les livraisons doivent intervenir d'ici 2018. Ce don devra cependant s'accompagner de réparations et d'une modernisation des systèmes à la charge de la Serbie. "Nous allons également négocier l'achat de systèmes de missiles sol-air à longue portée S-300 avec la Biélorussie", a déclaré Dordevic au quotidien serbe Politika. Il s'agit des versions S-300P and S-300V qui figurent dans l'inventaire serbe.

Célébration du Statehood day of Serbia par le contingent serbe de la MINUSCA

Le 15 février 2017, le contingent serbe de la MINUSCA a célébré la journée du Statehood Day. Cette journée d'État est une fête qui se déroule tous les 15 février en Serbie pour commémorer l'éclatement du premier soulèvement Serbe en 1804, elle a évolué en une révolution serbe contre la domination ottomane. La révolution a finalement abouti à la reconnaissance de l'Etat de Serbie par l'Empire ottoman et l’adoption de la constitution Sretenje.
On notait à cette cérémonie la présence de plusieurs représentants d’autres contingents militaires et notamment celle du général Hermann Ruys, chef de l’EUTM-RCA. Apres une brève historique de la date du 15 février, le commandant du contingent le Colonel Dragan Antic a convié les invités a un cocktail qui a marqué la fin des festivités.
Il est important de noter que les Contingents serbes ont longuement servi dans les opérations de maintien de la paix à travers le monde : Yemen (1963-1964), République Démocratique du Congo (1960-1964), Iran (1988-1991), Namibie (1989-1990), Angola (1989-1993), Timor oriental (2002-2003), Burundi (2004-2005), Tchad (2009-2010) et Centrafrique depuis 2014.

Yugoimport's Lazar 3 8x8 MultiRole Armoured Combat Vehicle has entered service with Serbia in the armoured personnel carrier (APC) configuration.

The vehicle has a welded steel chassis to which its monocoque steel hull - which features spall liners - is bolted. In its baseline form the vehicle has all round ballistic protection to Standardization Agreement (STANAG) 4569 Level 3, and over the frontal arc this is increased to Level 3+. Mine protection is to STANAG 4569 Level 3a and 3b, and the floor has two levels of protection.

An appliqué passive armour package has been developed and tested that increases all round protection to STANAG 4569 Level 4, and over the front to Level 5.

Livraison prochaine de MiG-29 pour la Serbie




Le mardi 24 mars, à la suite de sa rencontre avec Vladimir Poutine, le ministre de la Défense serbe Zoran Djordjevic a annoncé la livraison prochaine de six MiG-29 aux forces aériennes serbes. Certains points restent à finaliser par Moscou, notamment la livraison des avions en Serbie.

Cette livraison, qui devrait avoir lieu dans les semaines à venir, correspond à un don de l'armée russe à la Serbie. Ces appareils seront prélevés sur le stock d'armement russe avant d'être rénovés en Serbie. Si les MiG-29 sont offerts aux forces aériennes serbes, le processus de modernisation sera en revanche à la charge de Belgrade. Le montant de cette opération est estimé à 200 millions d'euros.


Les six appareils russes viendront compléter une flotte déjà existante de quatre MiG-29. Les avions de chasse russes ne sont pas les seuls matériels qui devraient rejoindre l'armée serbe. Trente T-72 (chars de combat) ainsi que trente blindés BRDM-2 seront également remis à la Serbie.


Il semblerait par ailleurs que les ambitions serbes de s'allier à la Russie pour l'acquisition de matériels ne s'arrêtent pas là, puisqu'un système de défense aérienne est aussi concerné. Le recours serbe à des avions russes déjà en service s'explique par le poids financier que représentent des appareils neufs, commente le colonel Bojan Zrnic.

Serbia’s EDePro is expected to unveil its new ALAS guided missile system during a 9 May parade as part of the of the Serbian Armed Forces Day and Victory Day.

The ALAS-C systems were first seen in footage of a rehearsal the preparation for the upcoming central ceremony on the occasion of the Serbian Armed Forces Day and Victory Day, then in a photograph released by the Serbian Ministry of Defence.

ALAS (Advanced Light Attack System) is a long-range multipurpose wire guided missile system developed by the private company EdePro, which operates under the direction of the state-owned Yugoimport SDPR. The ALAS missile system was developed primarily for missions against tanks, armored vehicles, fortifications, command posts, low-flying helicopters, coastal ships, industrial facilities and bridges.

It can be deployed by any suitable platform including helicopters, armored vehicles, small ships and infantry. The guidance system is based on video/infrared technology, with the missile connected to the launcher by a fiber-optic cable. The ALAS flies at low altitude and has small radar and infrared (heat) signatures due to using a turbofan motor instead of a turbojet.

A source in Serbia media said the UAE is interested in these missiles because “they should be able to destroy all existing models of tanks and boats in the world”. The United Arab Emirates’ (UAE’s) military announced during the IDEX 2013 show in Abu Dhabi that it had ordered ALAS-C based on 6×6 Nimr vehicle with 6 canisters for missiles from the Serbia’s company EDePro.

The ALAS-C abandoned the initial design and moved the arrow wing forward. It used a small degree of aerodynamic control via rudders and was propelled by an axial turbine engine equipped with a single nozzle. ALAS-C missiles installed the turbojet in the stretch LORANA of missile X-type wing control of the rudder, head mounted as a 45 ° cross. Located in the wing are the engine’s two intake ports, the rear portion of the wing on both sides of the elastomer contains two, flat, engine nozzles and a fiber spool. Employing an INS or optionally a GPS guidance system, the ALAS-C will have a range of up to 25 km, using a video/ccs/iir system to deliver its fragmentation warhead.

Bien que Belgrade prenne à sa charge l’entretien et les travaux de remise à niveau des six MiG-29 offerts par Moscou, grâce à la Russie, la modernisation de ses Forces aériennes coûtera à la Serbie beaucoup moins cher qu’à ses voisins, ont estimé des experts serbes dans un entretien avec Sputnik.


Les six MiG-29 que Moscou remettra gratuitement à Belgrade d'ici mi-juillet feront l'objet de travaux d'entretien et de remise à niveau qui seront à la charge de la Serbie et lui coûteront entre 180 et 230 millions d'euros, ce qui est trois à cinq fois moins cher que ce que doivent dépenser ses voisins pour moderniser leurs propres forces aériennes, a déclaré à Sputnik Nenad Miloradovic, assistant du ministre serbe de la Défense.

« Avec cet argent, nous recevons une qualité effectivement exclusive si on compare avec les travaux que doivent effectuer nos voisins sur des appareils occidentaux », a indiqué l'interlocuteur de l'agence.

Et de rappeler que la Serbie recevait gratuitement six avions, alors que la somme évoquée couvrait, outre la modernisation de ces six MiG-29, celle des quatre chasseurs dont disposait déjà la Serbie.


« Ce financement comprend aussi les travaux permettant d'augmenter le délai de service de ces appareils jusqu'à 30 ans. En outre, nous recevons des équipements supplémentaires pour l'entretien des avions au sol et les services de réparation générale pour les 14 années à venir et une modernisation en trois étapes », a-t-il précisé.

Un autre interlocuteur de Sputnik, le général à la retraite Dragan Katanic, par le passé commandant de l'Armée de l'air et de la DCA serbes, a tenu à rappeler que l'aviation de chasse de la Yougoslavie s'était, en 1967-1968, entièrement équipée en avions soviétiques.

« À l'époque, Belgrade avait reçu des MiG-21 pour utiliser trois générations de ces appareils jusqu'en 1987, date à laquelle elle a reçu des MiG-29 », a indiqué le général.

Selon ce dernier, toute l'infrastructure et tout l'équipement dont dispose aujourd'hui la Serbie proviennent de Russie, l'Union soviétique.

« Ainsi, la décision de continuer à utiliser les MiG est tout à fait logique car il nous faudra moins de temps et de moyens pour recycler les pilotes et le personnel technique, ainsi que pour acheter des équipements requis que si nous étions passés à des modèles occidentaux. Qui plus est, pour les caractéristiques de combat, les avions russes ne le cèdent en rien aux appareils occidentaux », a conclu M. Katanic.

Par ailleurs, Moscou remettra à Belgrade six chasseurs MiG-29 ainsi que 30 chars Т-72С et 30 blindés.

An undisclosed number of the Serbian Land Forces' 4x4 BOV light armoured vehicles (LAVs) have been upgraded by the Serbian Military Technical Institute (MTI) to extend their operational lives. The improved vehicles have been designated the BOV M-16.

The upgrade package includes the installation of a new communications system comprising high and very high-frequency radios, a heating and air-conditioning system, day and thermal cameras to enable the driver to manoeuvre the vehicle in a wider range of weather conditions, and an automatic fire-detection and suppression system.

An auxiliary power unit (APU) has been mounted externally on the rear of the hull, which provides up to eight hours of power for the vehicle's mission systems - such as communications equipment when the vehicle is configured for the command-post role - even with the main diesel engine shut down.

For enhanced survivability, the BOV M-16 has been fitted with an appliqué armour package for a higher level of ballistic protection.

A number of the vehicles have been fitted with the M15 remote-controlled weapon station (RCWS), armed with a 12.7 mm heavy machine gun (HMG). This is provided with 180 rounds of ready-use ammunition fed from a box on the weapon's left side with the day/night sensor pod mounted on the right.

Other BOV M-16 vehicles have been fitted with a protected weapon station (PWS) armed with either a 7.62 mm MG or 12.7 mm HMG. The station is mounted on the front-right of the vehicle, next to the driver's station.

More recent versions of the BOV M-16 include a target-acquisition model which is fitted with appliqué armour, PWS, and a telescopic mast to which an all-weather sensor package - comprising day and thermal cameras and a laser rangefinder - is attached.

The M15 remote controlled weapon station (RCWS) has entered service with the Serbian armed forces, Yugoimport representatives have confirmed.

The Majkik d.o.o-developed system has been observed fitted to some of the latest locally designed and built armoured vehicles, including the Lazar III (8x8) multirole armoured combat vehicle and BOV (4x4) light armoured vehicle.

For trials purposes the M15 has also been fitted to the turret of the upgraded M-84AS1 main battle tank and the Milosh (4x4) multi-purpose armoured vehicle, which is undergoing trials.

The M15 RCWS is currently armed with a modernised 12.7 mm NSV belt-fed machine gun (MG), which is provided with a box of 180 rounds of ready-use ammunition.

Yugoimport is claiming a maximum effective range against aerial targets of up to 1,500 m and ground targets of 2,000 m, with a cyclic rate of fire of more than 600 rds/min. There is the potential for alternative weapons to be installed, such as a smaller calibre 7.62 mm MG.

The RCWS’ Sensor pod is mounted on the left side and consists of a high-resolution charged coupled device (CCD) TV camera with x36 zoom, a thermal imaging night camera, and an eye-safe laser rangefinder. The latter has a range of between 80 m and 5,000 m and is stated to have an accuracy of 5 m; it feeds information to the fire control computer (FCC).

The FCC processes the video, generates an automatic reticule, and calculates the ballistics and lead angle. The weapon is laid onto the target using a flat panel display and associated controls, which include a single joystick.

The M15 has an electric traverse (through 360°) and elevation (-7° to 60°) system.

The Serbian Army will have an additional 968 professional soldiers, while 46 new officers will take up command duties by the end of this year, Aleksandar Vulin, the recently appointed defence minister, announced on 16 August.

During a visit to the Serbian Army’s Logistic Training Centre in Kraljevo, Vulin said 820 professional soldiers have already joined the armed forces this year. He explained that recruiting new professional soldiers solves the shortage in soldiers, which is a major problem for the Serbian armed forces.

Russia transferred six MiG-29 jet fighters to Serbia with three Volga-Dnepr An-124-100 flights on 2-4 October. Taking off from Tretyakovo Airport in Lukhovitsy, some 135 km southeast of Moscow, the airlifters flew the MiG-29s to Batajnica Air Base, 20 km northwest of Belgrade.

The aircraft delivered to Serbia were four single-seat MiG-29 fighters produced in 1989 and a pair of MiG-29UB twin-seat trainers manufactured in 1990-91. One of the aircraft is due for a general overhaul and the remaining five have sufficient time between overhaul to remain operational with the Republic of Serbia Air Force and Air Defence (RV i PVO) for a few more years before the next lifecycle extension and general overhaul.

Serbia will upgrade its air defences, the acting assistant minister for material resources in the Ministry of Defence (MoD) has said.

Nenad Miloradovic told local TV station Pink on 8 October that short-range air defence systems would be modernised by local companies, while existing Neva fixed and Kub-M mobile medium-range systems would receive “significant” upgrades. He also revealed plans for and negotiations on the acquisition of Buk medium-range and possibly S-300 long-range surface-to-air missile (SAM) systems.

While not revealing which country Serbia is negotiating with, Miloradovic said the MoD had been notified that Russia would provide assistance similar to that provided for Russian MiG-29s, which will receive a general overhaul and modernisation under the supervision of the Russian defence industry.

Livraison de MiG-29M à la Serbie !



La Russie a commencé à livrer six avions de combat MiG-29M « Fulcrum » à la Serbie. Deux des avions de combat démontés ont été transporté sur un avion cargo russe qui a atterri dans un aéroport militaire près de Belgrade en début de semaine dernière. Depuis, quatre autres appareils sont arrivés dans le pays.

Complément et modernisation :

Moscou a remis gratuitement les MiG à la Serbie. Par contre, le pays a payé la somme 236 millions de dollars pour la mise à niveau des avions. Le président serbe Aleksandar Vucic a déclaré lundi que, outre les avions, le pays va renforcer sa défense antiaérienne. Il a négocié l'achat des systèmes S-300 fabriqués en Russie.

En plus de l’arrivée de ces nouvraux MiG-29M, Belgrade s’est engagée à la refonte générale et l'extension du cycle de vie et la modernisation de 10 avions de combat MiG-29 de la Force aérienne serbe.

Modernisation des MiG-29 :

Les appareils qui seront modernisés sont des MiG-29B et MiG-29UB. L'objectif est d'amener les 10 avions à la norme MiG-29SM et d'augmenter leur durée de vie en Serbie au-delà de 2030.

Le MiG-29SM est une version multirôle doté d’une avionique améliorée permettant l’emport d'armes de haute précision capables de détruire les cibles aériennes et terrestres.

Le MiG-29SM est doté du radar N-019E (N-019ME) couplé à un ordinateur MVK-04. L’avionique comprend un nouveau système d'affichage de données avec un écran couleur multifonction MFD-54 et d'un système de contrôle de gestion d'armes supplémentaire. L’avion est doté d’un récepteur GPS. Un nouveau système de contre-mesures électroniques équipe également l’avion. Le MiG-29SM a reçu canal multiplex d'échange de données est ajouté avec un bus de la norme MIL STD 1553B.

L’avion emporte les missiles R-27ER1, R-27ET1 (T1) avec des têtes de guidage par radar et IR et des missiles RVV-AE avec des têtes de radar actives. Le système de gestion des armes amélioré garantit l'application d'armes de haute précision de la classe "A-S": les missiles Kh-29T (TE), Kh-31A, Kh-31P et les bombes guidées KAB-500Kr et KAB-500-OD. Lors de l'utilisation du pod de désignation cible ou de l'éclairage externe cible, il est possible d'appliquer les missiles Kh-29L, Kh-25ML ainsi que les bombes laser guidées.

The Ministry of Defence of Republic of Serbia announced its intention to acquire the batch of modern M07 AF sniper rifles.

During the presentation of modern samples of military equipment and weapons as part of the “1500+” project, the Serbian government announced its intention to acquire newest military equipment, weapons included  M07 AF sniper rifles for national defence forces.

The M07 AF is designed on the basis of famous Mauser M98 action by
Zastava Arms company. According to the company, the rifle is loaded from a detachable magazine with a capacity of 5 rounds. Heavy barrel is made of chrome-vanadium steel, by cold forging, which guarantees exceptional precision, accuracy and long service life.

The action receiver is of polygonal shape, with built-in Picatinny rail, which enables the assembly of optical devices.

Trigger mechanism with single trigger can be finely adjusted. Mechanical safety has three positions: safe, fire and secure position, when it is possible to unlock the action, but it is not possible to fire.

Thread on the muzzle enables the assembly of accessories (gas or masking), and it is protected by a threaded ring.

Folding stock is made of pomymer. The height of the cheek pad can be adjusted and the length of the stock is changed by changing the number of inserts.This provides safe and comfortable position of the shooter during firing.

The Serbian state-owned intermediary for defence equipment imports and exports, Yugoimport SDPR, and the Ministry of Defence's (MoD) Military Technical Institute are working on the modernisation package they are proposing for twin-seat versions of the Soko Orao twin-jet subsonic ground attack and tactical reconnaissance aircraft.

Earlier this year, the MoD in Belgrade gave the Orao, in service with the Ratno Vazduhoplovstvo i Protivvazduhoplovna Odbrana (Republic of Serbia Air Force and Air Defense, RV i PVO), priority to be modernised over the Soko G-4 Super Galeb single-jet advanced trainer and light attack aircraft.

The upgrade will extend the aircraft's lifetime, keeping it operational until 2039.

Serbian Armed Forces inducted six new Lasta advanced trainer aircraft manufactured by UTVA, as reported by the press service of the Serbian military department.

According to the report, Defence Minister Aleksandar Vulin and Chief of the General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces General Ljubiša Diković have visited Batajnica airport to see “Lasta” airplanes, which were introduced in service in the AF&AD of the Serbian Armed Forces and MiG-29 aircraft undergoing repair and modernization.

“We are particularly pleased that we are here today because of the introduction of six new “Lasta” aircraft in the armaments of our armed forces. It is the product of our knowledge and understanding, these are trainer planes that we designed and manufactured ourselves, and we managed to make them serviceable, operational and valuable to be within the armaments of our armed forces after a long time”, said Defence Minister.

Commander of the 252nd Trainer Aviation Squadron, Lieutenant Colonel Boško Šerbedžija, explained that six “Lasta” planes have been introduced into use today, and the remaining eight will be introduced in the middle of this year.

– “Lasta” aircraft is a single-engine trainer plane designed for basic and part of advanced pilot training at the Military Academy. With its new, modern digital avionics and flight features, it provides modern and advanced training in basic, aerobatic, navigational, group, instrumental and night flying. This plane will certainly contribute to raising the training to a qualitatively higher level, Lieutenant Colonel Šerbedžija said.

The aircraft is intended for primary and basic pilot training, acrobatics, and formation flying.
