The ship is designed to facilitate a wide variety of future mission sets in support of special operations. ... The ship retains the capability of ballasting down. Eventhough the ship is configured for air mine countermeasure missions with MH-53 helicotpers, NASSCO believes the US Navy is about to order a study on the ability of AFSB to handle the MV-22. It should not be a significant job to modify the existing design in order to handle the MV-22. AFSB will have an endurance of over 9,500 nautical miles at a speed of 15 knots.

Speaking to Navy Recognition during Sea-Air-Space, Tad ****enson (Raytheon's Program Manager Air and Missile Defense Radar) explained that the AMDR is over 30 times more powerful than the existing SPY-1 radar meaning it can put over 30 times more energy allowing to detect more targets, a lot further out. AMDR ranges about 2.5 times further compared to existing DDG 51 radar.

After a series of successful tests, the U.S. Navy last month certified that the Boeing Phantom Badger combat support vehicle can be transported inside a V-22 Osprey tiltrotor aircraft. That is another step toward providing warfighters with more options to deploy the versatile vehicle. Phantom Badger is part of the Bell Boeing V-22 display at the Navy League’s Sea-Air-Space Exposition currently held in National Harbor, Md.

The BMD ship may be fitted with 288 Mk 41 or 144 Mk 57 vertical launch systems. Its powerful X-band radar may be fixed of rotating and consist in 4 antennas measuring 25 feet up to 35 feet in diameter.
