“During the official meeting, were decided on the ways to modernize the air defense complexes of the Air Forces of Ukraine,” Minister noted.
The S-300V1 is the only one of its kind and developed to provide advanced air defense capability for vital battlefield and rear areas as well as country’s administrative and political centers. This complex is not part of the S-300, including is designed by another developer. It was built by Antey rather than Almaz, and its 9M82 and 9M83 missiles were designed by NPO Novator. The V suffix stands for Voyska (ground forces). It was designed to form the top tier army air defence system, providing a defence against ballistic missiles, cruise missiles and aircraft.
The S-300V1 weapon system comprises a command post vehicle, an all-around surveillance radar, a sector scanning radar, up to 4 missile guidance radars, and up to 24 launcher vehicles. It can engage helicopters and aircraft flying at any altitude from 25 to 30,000 meters, reduced radar cross section targets such as unmanned aerial vehicles and stealth aircraft and missiles, as well as supersonic and subsonic cruise missiles. The S-300V1 can engage up to 24 targets simultaneously with 48 9M83 missiles (two missiles per target) in-flight for optimized kill probability.

Ukraine’s Air Force completed mission to resupply a Danish military station in Arctic By Dylan Malyasov 6, May, 2018
On May 6, the Ukrainian IL-76 aircraft, together with the crew, returned to Ukraine after the successful completion of the joint Ukrainian-Danish mission to resupply a military and scientific station on the northern tip of Greenland in the Arctic.
The Ukrainian pilots of 25th Transport Air Brigade transported more than 700,000 liters of fuel, other items, and assets during about 25 flights (120 hours) from U.S. airbase Thule to Station Nord, the Danish polar station in Greenland as part of the joint Ukrainian-Danish Northern Falcon 2018 mission.
They have had accomplish tasks in inclement weather conditions in Greenland (at a temperature below 50 degrees Celsius, wind speed up to 15-20 meters per second, stormy weather).
In a month-long mission was take part 22 pilots and ground personnel, as well as coordinators from Ukraine’s Air Force Command, led by Col. Serhii Artemenko.

Ukraine is set to unveil an upgraded variant of its newest tactical ballistic missile during Independence Day military parade at the center of Kyiv on Aug. 24
Ukrainian defense industry will unveil modern tactical ballistic missile to the international public for the first time during Ukraine’s Independence Day on Aug. 24.
The new mobile short-range ballistic missile is developed by the Yuzhnoye Design Bureau and the Pavlograd Chemical Plant in partnerships with other Ukrainian defense companies.
The newest system is designed to destroy enemy weapons, command posts, communications nodes, tactical aircraft parked on airfields, air defense installations and other critical targets in operational depth round.
The newest tactical missile system is equivalent to the Russian Iskander.
Once in service of the Ukrainian Defense Forces, the new systems could replace an older Tochka-U short-range ballistic missiles, that has a range of 120 km and.
Ukraine’s tactical ballistic missile system is expected to have a firing range of up to 300 km. (some source reported about up to 500rm). It will have several different conventional warheads, including a cluster munitions warhead, a fuel-air explosive enhanced-blast warhead, a high explosive-fragmentation warhead, an earth penetrator for bunker busting.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine will unveil its recently received Javelin anti-tank guided missiles (ATGM) during the largest military parade in Kyiv on Aug. 24 to mark the Independence Day.
Ukrainian military began preparations for the annual Independence Day parade set to take place August 24 and during rehearsals was spotted Javelin ATGMs that country received from the USA in this year.
Ukraine has received a first batch of the Javelin anti-tank missiles from the United States as a military aid package at the beginning of 2018.
The United States has been one of Kyiv’s staunchest supporters since Moscow’s annexation of Crimea in 2014 and the subsequent outbreak of fighting in Ukraine’s eastern Donbass region that has killed more than 10,000 people.
But Russia has repeatedly said supplying weapons to Ukraine would further destabilize the situation by encouraging Kyiv to use force.
Also, Russian defence reporter and military expert Alexey Khlopotov fearing that Russian main battle tanks would be helpless against man-portable fire-and-forget anti-tank missiles like the Javelin.
Alexei Khlopotovclarifiedthat in the existing versions all Russian serial tanks are practically defenseless against a US-made Javelin ATGM. Khlopotov noted that even with a lot of disadvantages, Amercian ATGMs can confidently hit modern and upgraded tanks of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.
The Javelin ATGM is capable of defeating modern tanks by attacking them from above at the top armor, which is generally thinner and has weak protection. It uses a fire-and-forget, automatic infrared guidance that allows the user to seek cover immediately after launch.
Ukraine reactivates unique S-300V1 strategic air defense systems
Aug 10, 2018
The Armed Forces of Ukraine are reinforcing their air and missile defense, reactivating unique S-300V1 strategic air defense systems.
Following the collapse of the Soviet Union, the two military unit that equipped with S-300V1 anti-ballistic missile systems ended up in Ukraine.
The 25th anti-aircraft missile brigade (A1181) was deployed in Stryi, Lviv region and 137th anti-aircraft missile brigade (A3024) in Uman, Cherkasy region. Gradually, both brigades armed with S-300V1 systems have been disbanded from 2002 to 2012, despite the protest of the military.
Since 2014, as when a large number of Ukrainian air defense systems were inoperable, there has been a strong drive to return S-300V1 systems that designed to defeat short- and medium-range ballistic missile, aeroballistic, and cruise missiles.
All every resource were focused to repair and restore existing systems that are able to withstand the threat from the Russian Iskander and Caliber missile systems.
The unique features of S-300V1 air defense system consist in that is the world’s only truly mobile Anti Ballistic Missile system. The S-300V system is a mobile multi-channel long-range surface-to-air missile system. It can provide effective theatre missile and air defence.
The system has high jamming immunity, and therefore is capable of engaging aerial targets in heavy ECM and fire counteraction, in any weather, by day and night. Only systems of this type can repel an attack of medium-range ballistic or cruise missiles.
The S-300V1 is intended to defeat tactical, theater and medium-range ballistic missiles, as well as aerodynamic targets at a range of up to 200 km. The system is mounted on a tracked cross-country vehicle equipped with self-contained power supply and navigation systems, as well as surveying and positioning equipment.
The S-300V1 systems will unveil to the public during Ukraine’s Independence Day on Aug. 24.

Ukrainian Army has received into service several armoured mine clearance tanks based on T-64A chassis.
During a working visit to Zhytomyr region, President, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko took part in the solemn ceremony of transferring modernized and repaired weapons and military equipment to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The Head of State handed over certificates for military equipment and weapons.
The ceremony occurred on 21 December at airfield of the Ozerne Air Base.
During the ceremony also were transferred newest heavy armoured mine clearance vehicles based at second-generation T-64A main battle tank (MBT) chassis.
The former deputy chief of Engineer Troops of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Andrey Kulchitsky said that new mine clearance tanks were developed at the SE “Kharkiv Armored Plant”.
“The new vehicles are a heavy armoured mine clearance vehicles that can meet the technical and tactical needs of modern-day armed forces,” Andrey Kulchitsky added.
The new vehicles boast the characteristics of an MBT and an engineering vehicle. Enhanced effectiveness and functionality of the tank enable the combat engineers to demolish obstacles in combat, including minefield breaching.
Using a heavy-duty KMT-7 mechanical mine clearing device, the new mine clearance vehicle would can lanes through minefields, assuring the mobility of friendly troops. The passage in the minefield is created as a result of pressure applied to mine detonators by the roller sections, followed by the unearthing of undetonated mines and their pushing off the path by the plow. This results in a lane which enables other vehicles to traverse a minefield safely.
It is also equipped with an integrated mine protection system and the crew compartment features a heating and cooling system.
New Ukrainian heavy armoured mine clearance vehicles are low-cost decision but will offer major improvements in capabilities compared with Soviet-era BMR-2 and Russian-made BMR-3 vehicles.
