The 1st of 4 Bombardier Global 5000s for the Luftwaffe was delivered to the Air Force on September 22, 2011. Il will be flown by the VIP unit, the FBS BMVg (Ministry of Defence Special Mission Flight) at Koln-Bonn. Prior to this, the aircraft temporary wearing sérial "98+48", had undertaken 2 days of trials with the Luftwaffe trials unit WTD61 at Manching, where it had arrived on September 15.
The aircraft had been handed over in Montreal, Canada on August 25 to German Operating Aircraft Leasing GmBH (GOAL), which is acting as a subcontractor to Lufthansa Technik AG, the prime contractor for the acquisition of 4 Global 5000s for the German Federal Ministry of Defence (MoD). It was flown the same day to Hamburg, Germany for hand-over, subsequently flying to its future base at Koln-Bonn on September 4.
The aircraft are being worked on at Bombardier's Global Completion Centre in Montreal & the remaining 3 are due to be finished by the end of 2011. The type will be operated by the FBS for the VIP transport & medical evacuation flights.
They are replacing the FBS Challenger 601s which are being phased out.

Ghana's Presidential office confirmed on March 18, 2008, that the Ghana Air Force (GAF) has put in a request for funding to re-equip its transport squadron with 6 new military aircraft. These comprise 2 Harbin Y-12s, 2 Xian MA60s, 1 Airbus A319CJ & 1 Dassault Falcon 900. The statement notes that it had been recommanded as far back as 1997 that 1 A319CJ & 1 Falcon 900 should be purchased, but in 1999 1 Gulfstream II was acquired instead.
An urgent memorandum was sent to the Government by the GAF last year (2007), decrying the poor state of its aircraft & stating that the current fleet would have to be grounded by 2010 due to its age. That request also made recommandations on measures required to forestall these problems, should there be delays in re-equipment. The Ministry of Finance has been working with the Ministry of Defence & GAF higher command to arrange the necessary credit facilities for the purchase of new aircraft, subject to Parliamentary approval.

En fait, c'est 1 Bell 222UT, immatriculé "ZA-HOV" & comme je vous l'ai dit, cet hélico s'est écrasé le 16 Juillet 2006 tuant les 6 personnes (et pas 5) à bord.

The UAE Amiri Flight has taken back into service 1 Boeing 767-341ER that had been leased for nearly 4 years to Ethiad Airways. The aircraft, "A6-SUL", was delivered new to the UAE Amiri Flight on December 15, 1999, but was then leased to Ethiad from May 2004 as "A6-EYZ". It was back with the Amiri Flight by January 2008 as "A6-JDB".

An official statement on August 16, 2006, confirmed that the Zambian Government had taken delivery of 1 new AgustaWestland AW139 helico for use by the Head of State. Presidential spokesman noted that the current incumbent, President Levy Patrick Mwanawasa, will not be using the helico himself, as it will not be ready for service until his replacement is in power, following the elections on September 28. The AW139 is already in the country, but Zambian pilots & technical staff are still being trained & it will be some time in November before this is completed & the helico enters service.
The spokesman explained that there had been a long-standing requirement for a VIP helico. This had been endorsed by previous administrations, but despite agreements having been signed & deposits paid in the past, the deals had fallen through. The acquisition process has continued for over 15 years. An initial contract was signed between the Government & Eurocopter on October 26, 1990, for the supply of a VIP helico. Although a deposit was paid by the Zambian Government at that time, the transaction was not completed due to non-remittance of the balance. A new contract with Eurocopter was signed on September 11, 1992, & a further deposit paid, but once again the remainder of the balance went unpaid. This deal also fell through, despite payment of 4,15 million US dollars to Eurocopter for the 2 contracts.
A 3rd attempt was made in 2001, when a deal was struck with Bell-Agusta & a 950.000 dollars deposit paid, but again the balance was not forthcoming & the helico remained undelivered, although the deposit was finally recovered in February 2005, according to the spokesman. After current President's administration came into office on January 2, 2002, it was determined that there was still a requirement for a VIP helico & discussions were held with Eurocopter to see if the previous deposits could be used as part of a new deal, but negociations came to nothing. Finally, a contract was signed with Bell-Agusta on February 25, 2005, for the AW139 which has now been delivered. Once training is completed, the helico will be made available for future Zambian Head of State.

Tanzanian Infrastructure Development Minister revealed on August 22, 2006, that the Government plans to acquire 3 aircraft for official transportation. 1 would be a new, modern helico to enable Government officials to fly to the more remote & inaccessible regions of the country. It could also be used to deliver emergency supplies to these regions when required, as they are often cut off during the rainy season. The other 2 aircraft would replace the elderly Fokker F28-3000 Fellowship & Fokker 50 which have served the Government for more than 20 years.
Parliament endorsed the acquisitions 3 years ago, following which, after extensive consultations with various Government bodies, all official approvals have now been granted, & all that remains is to find the necessary funds. The Government fleet also includes 1 Gulfstream G550 "5H-ONE", delivered new around 18 months ago.

Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation announced at the Seoul Air Show on October 16, 2007, that it has sold 3 VIP configured S-92 helicos to the Royal Thai Air Force (RTAF). The helicos will be used by the RTAF as Head of State aircraft to transport the Thai Royal family. The contract was signed at the show by Air Chief Marshal & Sikorsky representatives. All 3 of the S-92s are scheduled for delivery in 2010.
