Milipol 2023: Serbian Company PR-DC Unveils 60mm Mortar Kamikaze Drone
Defense News November 2023 Global Security army industry POSTED ON TUESDAY, 14 NOVEMBER 2023 22:20
At Milipol Paris 2023, the renowned international security and safety exhibition has set the stage for the latest advancements in unmanned aerial systems. The Serbian-based company, Pink Research & Development Centre (PR-DC), has unveiled a groundbreaking 60mm mortar bomb kamikaze drone, marking a significant leap in drone warfare technology.

This innovative drone, based on a quadcopter design, features Vertical Take-Off and Landing (VTOL) capabilities. With a takeoff mass of 3.5 kg, it is specifically engineered to carry an aerial bomb based on a modified M736 mortar shell, equipped with an M68P1-D fuse, tailored for drone operations. This integration of traditional munitions with advanced drone technology represents a new era in precision warfare.
The 60mm kamikaze drone boasts an operational range of up to 15 km, guided by GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) which allows for precise navigation via pre-set waypoints. Additionally, the drone is equipped with a high-resolution camera, serving dual purposes: it enables manual navigation by the operator from a remote location and is crucial for target identification. This camera system allows the operator to guide the drone accurately to release the mortar shell on ground targets, ensuring high precision in strike operations.
One of the most significant features of this drone is its control system. Operated from a single ground station, the integrated software is designed to control multiple drones simultaneously. This capability to deploy a swarm of kamikaze drones could potentially maximize the impact in combat scenarios, offering a new level of strategic advantage in both offensive and defensive operations.
The introduction of the 60mm kamikaze drone at Milipol Paris 2023 has sparked a wide range of reactions. While it represents a significant technological advancement, it also raises important discussions about the future of warfare and the ethical implications of such autonomous weapon systems. As these drones are capable of delivering lethal payloads with high precision, their deployment in conflict zones could change the dynamics of military engagements, emphasizing the need for stringent regulations and control measures.
As the exhibition continues, PR-DC's kamikaze drone is not only a showcase of technological innovation but also a catalyst for important conversations about the future of warfare and the role of unmanned systems in it.
