Falcon Air Meet 2007

This year Falcon Air Meet made in Azraq Air Base / Jordan. The meeting is especialy for F-16 Fighting Falcon planes and pilots. Members of the organization is Turkey, Jordan, USA, Belgium, Italy, Holland, Egypt and so on who has F-16 planes. There is competitions about shooting skills, loading ammunition speed against of time, cleaness of planes and so on. Anyway this photos from Turkish squad who competited there.

Coup d’envoi de l’exercice « Rapid Trident » en Ukraine

Alors que la situation est toujours aussi tendue dans le sud-est de ukrainien (Donbass), où les séparatistes pro-russes s’opposent aux forces gouvernementales, l’exercice militaire international « Rapid Trident », qui mobilisera, jusqu’au 31 juillet, 1.800 hommes venus de 18 pays , a été lancé à Iavoriv, près de la frontière polonaise.

Le contingent étranger le plus étoffé sera celui fourni par l’armée américaine, avec 562 soldats engagés dans ces manoeuvres, qui seront axées sur la lutte contre les engins explosifs improvisés et les opérations de maintien de la paix et de stabilisation.

Parmi les 675 militaires ukrainiens impliqués dans ces exercices, certains ont participé aux combats dans le Donbass. Ils « vont partager leur expérience avec leurs camarades ukrainiens et des autres pays », a commenté le colonel Olexandre Sivak, un officier des forces gouvernementales ukrainiennes.

Outre l’Ukraine et les États-Unis, participent également à l’édition 2015 de « Rapid Trident » l’Allemagne, l’Azerbaïdjan, la Bulgarie, le Canada, l’Espagne, la Géorgie, la Grande-Bretagne, la Moldavie, la Norvège, la Pologne, la Roumanie, la Serbie, la Turquie et les trois pays baltes.

Le but de ces manoeuvres est d’améliorer l’interopérabilité entre les pays de l’Otan et ceux qui ont signé le Partenariat pour la Paix (PPP) proposé par l’Alliance.

Au vu du contexte actuel et des relations avec Moscou, l’organisation de ces manoeuvres a été critiquée par le ministère russe des Affaires étrangères. « De telles actions, qui alimentent les sentiments revanchards du ‘parti de la guerre’ à Kiev sont à même de provoquer une rupture des progrès apparents du processus de paix dans l’Est », a-t-il fait valoir, ignorant sans doute les derniers développements dans le Donbass, où les combats sont repartis de plus belle dans les environs de Donetsk.

« Non seulement l’Otan n’est pas prête à reconnaître le caractère erroné et les possibles conséquences explosives de tels exercices, mais elle en augmente considérablement l’ampleur », a poursuivi la diplomatie russe.

Cela étant, l’exercice Rapid Trident a lieu tous les ans depuis 2006, année où il a pris la suite des manoeuvres « Peace Shield », organisées pour la première fois en Ukraine en 1995 dans le cadre du PPP.

Trident Juncture : le plus grand exercice OTAN depuis 2002



L’OTAN rassemble 36 000 militaires provenant de 30 pays afin qu’ils s’entraînent ensemble dans le cadre de la Nato Response Force (NRF). Cette high readiness force (force d’intervention rapide) se compose d’unités terrestres, navales et aériennes qui doivent être capables de mener des opérations conjointes.  

En automne, la Défense enverra plus de 700 militaires en Espagne afin d’entraîner, entre autres, ses forces spéciales, son bataillon ISTAR (renseignement, surveillance, acquisition d'objectifs et reconnaissance) et ses hélicoptères A109. Le navire de commandement Godetia et le dragueur de mines Lobelia participeront également.

L’exercice Trident Juncture se déroulera en Italie, au Portugal, en Espagne, en Norvège et en mer Méditerranée. Selon l’OTAN, les pays de l’Alliance doivent former une organisation compétente et avant-gardiste face aux défis qui seront à relever en matière de sécurité.

The Royal Irish Regiment is leading a major international exercise in Europe in their new role as a Light Mechanized Battalion.

Exercise Wessex Storm sees the Royal Irish working alongside American, Canadian, Czech and other nations as they get to grips with tactics and skills for close combat with their range of military vehicles, including the Foxhound, RWMIK, Wolfhound, Husky and Ridgback.

The Royal Irish Battlegroup, including a number of Army Reservists from 2 Royal Irish, are being put through their paces in Germany. Ranger Stephen Tan from Belfast says the terrain is challenging not only for the soldiers but for the vehicles. “This is a tough and realistic environment pushing us hard,” he said, “but when the adrenalin kicks in we really get going. It is what we joined the army for.”

Indian Air Force Sukhois Dominate UK Fighter Jets in Combat Exercises

New Delhi:  In some of the most intense international air combat exercises ever featuring the Indian Air Force, IAF pilots flying Sukhoi Su-30 MKI fighters had a resounding 12-0 scoreline in their favour against Royal Air Force Typhoon jets in Within Visual Range (WVR) dogfighting operations.

In subsequent Large Force Exercises (LFE) which featured combined Eurofighter Typhoon and Su-30 formations, the IAF jets were somewhat less successful but consistently held an edge over the Typhoon.

In an exclusive interview, Group Captain Ashu Srivastav, the Contingent Commander in the exercises, told NDTV that the performance of his pilots was "exceptional." According to Group Captain Srivastav, who happens to be the IAF's most experienced Su-30 pilot, his pilots showed "flexibility and adaptability to a new environment and operating conditions and on this benchmark, I would rate them exceptional."

The 10-day exercises which commenced on July 21 was the fourth edition of the Indo-UK Bilateral exercise called 'Indradhanush'. IAF aircraft and personnel were based out of three Royal Air Force bases: four IAF Su-30 fighters operated out of RAF Coningsby, C-17 and C-130J Hercules transports were positioned at Brize Norton and Garud Commandos of the IAF operated alongside British forces at RAF Honington. The IAF also deployed an Ilyushin IL-78 air to air refuelling tanker at Brize Norton.
 

The IAF fleet departed India on July 15, with the fighters refuelling twice mid-air ahead of their first pit-stop at Taif in Saudi Arabia (near Jeddah). The formation then proceeded to Athens on July 16, refuelling once before their arrival. After another halt for one night, IAF aircraft flew onto the UK again refuelling once mid-air.

For the Royal Air Force, the chance to train against the Russian-designed Su-30, arguably the finest fourth generation fighter aircraft in the world, is rare. India is the largest international operator of the super-maneuverable fighter and was equally keen to pit the skills of its Top Guns against the RAF's new Eurofighter Typhoon, the mainstay of the RAF's fighter fleet.

The first week of the exercises pitted the Su-30, which NATO calls the Flanker, in a series of aerial dogfight scenarios. First, there were 1 v 1 encounters, where a single jet of each type engaged each other in Within Visual Range (WVR) combat, firing simulated missiles to a range of two miles. The exercises progressed to 2 v 2 engagements with two Eurofighters taking on two Su-30s and 2 v 1 exercises where two Sukhois took on a single Typhoon and vice versa. Notably, in the exercise where a lone Su-30 was engaged by two Typhoons, the IAF jet emerged the victor 'shooting' down both 'enemy' jets.

In all dog fighting exercises, IAF Sukhois were able to turn sharply into the extremely agile Typhoons using their thrust-vectored engines to keep the RAF jets locked in their sights. The Su-30's advanced Infrared Search and Track System (IRST), a passive sensor, which cannot be tracked, proved to be a distinct advantage for the IAF's pilots in close-combat maneuvering. Both the IAF and RAF used the full capabilities of their onboard radars, albeit in training mode, which meant that actual radar frequencies used in combat conditions were never exposed for confidentiality reasons. However, the detection ranges of the radars of both aircraft were not curtailed per se. This was air combat as close to the real thing as possible.

The pilots themselves ranged from young Flight Lieutenants to senior Group Captains from either side drawn directly from Typhoon squadrons and the IAF's 2 Squadron, The Winged Arrows, based in Kalaikunda. The idea was for both sides to expose their operational pilots to a modern frontline platform of the same class. Accordingly, the IAF did not deploy any senior pilots serving with its Tactics and Air Combat Development Establishment (TACDE).

By the time the exercises shifted to Large Force Engagements (LFE) in the second week, IAF pilots were comfortable operating in British conditions. The Large Force Engagements saw mixed formation scenarios where the IAF operated its jets alongside RAF Typhoons in air battles against fellow Su-30s flying together with other Typhoons.
 

The Large Force Engagements saw 4 v 4 engagements at beyond visual range and graduated to a massive 8 v 8 engagement featuring 16 aircraft in the skies near Coningsby. IAF pilots shared tactical information with RAF pilots in their formations using radio communications since the IAF's data-link system (which shares critical sensor data with friendly aircraft) was not compatible with the Link 16 system in use with NATO aircraft like the Typhoon.

Asked about the performance of IAF pilots in these Large Force Engagements, Group Captain Srivastav told NDTV his pilots performed "fairly well" though "quantifying [the results] is difficult". It was not unexpected for the IAF to "lose" one or two jets (over all the Large Force Engagements put together) given that the movement of each formation was directed by fighter controllers coordinating an overall air battle. Both sides agreed to simulate their Beyond Visual Range (BVR) Missiles at 25 miles for offensive missions and 22 miles for defensive scenarios.

IAF C-130 and Il-78 jets also participated in the Large Force engagements where they were "defended" by the fighter formations they were flying with against 'enemy' attacks.

The IAF also encountered no serviceability issues with any of its participating jets. All Su-30s were available for the daily exercises which took place over two blocks, one in the morning, the other in the afternoon for a total of eight sorties daily.

Praising the support the IAF received from the RAF, Group Captain Srivastav told NDTV, "The hosts were very good. They were ready to extend exceptional support."

The sense of camaraderie extended to C-17 transport pilots of both sides. According to Group Captain Srivastav, "There was good interaction between young pilots. The C-17 Squadron of the RAF wanted some help in Kathmandu [following the Nepal earthquake]. We helped them then, this was more than reciprocated." RAF pilots showcased their assault landing and combat off-loading experiences with IAF pilots observing from the cockpit of the big jet. IAF pilots shared their experiences of operating the C-17 at high altitudes.

Over the last decade, the Indian Air Force has been very keen to develop its Garud Commando Force meant to protect its assets such as air bases and also be deployed behind enemy lines if required. Operating alongside British forces in the UK, the IAF Garud commandos participated in a 96-hour camp in a training area close to Honington. This involved reconnaissance and surveillance missions and a combat free fall para-jump with British forces.
 
Back in India now, the IAF, like the Royal Air Force, is keen to point out that the exercises were a learning and training opportunity, and should not be seen as a battle between the IAF and the RAF, who are close allies and partners. According to Group Captain Srivastav, "It was all about learning from each others experiences and to fine tune our own procedures."

At the end of the day, though, for the IAF, these exercises were about gauging the skill levels of its own pilots and the aircraft they operate. For the IAF, these exercises came as positive news on where they stand against some of the best of the West.

Participating countries include Canada, the Czech Republic, Georgia, Hungary, Italy, Serbia, the United Kingdom, and the United States

Allied Spirit II is unique in its ability to provide a hands-on laboratory for NATO interoperability training, as well as pre-deployment certification for two NATO Allies during the exercise.

Des détachements de la défense aérienne de cinq pays contrôleront l'espace aérien dans la zone sous leur responsabilité.


Des détachements des pays membres du système uni de la défense aérienne de la Communauté des Etats indépendants (CEI) ont pris leurs fonctions dans le cadre d'exercices militaires conjoints baptisés "Communauté militaire" près de la ville d'Astrakhan (sud de la Russie), a rapporté le ministère russe de la Défense.


"Des détachements de la défense aérienne se sont établis dans leurs nouvelles positions où le matériel militaires a été déployés et ils ont commencé le contrôle de l'espace aérien dans la zone désignée sous leur responsabilité", indique le message du ministère.

Les détachements radioélectriques chercheront à perfectionner le contrôle de l'espace aérien dans la région ainsi que le suivi de cibles et la désignation d'objectifs pour les systèmes d'armes antiaériens censés détruire des cibles à basse et à haute altitude ainsi que des cibles balistiques.

Près de 4.000 militaires de la Russie, du Kazakhstan, du Tadjikistan, du Kirghizstan et de l'Arménie prennent part aux exercices.

Soldiers from 4th Battalion The Mercian Regiment have taken part in Exercise Sava Star in Slunj, Croatia.

About 100 Reservists spent two weeks at the combat training centre developing their basic infantry skills, including patrolling, section attacks and navigation.

A ‘Paukovi’ (platoon of Croatian soldiers) joined them for the integrated training and Regular non-commissioned officers and soldiers from the Battalion’s twinned regular unit also joined the exercise to train alongside Croatian Armed Forces.

Sergeant Tim Robinson, a Reserve soldier with 4 MERCIAN, from Derby, said: “The Croatian Armed Forces seem very similar to UK Forces in discipline, training and robustness. I trust them immensely and enjoy working alongside another professional army. It was interesting to see their rugged equipment too, perfect for the terrain here. It’s been an amazing experience...”

Nos F/A-18 au Tactical Leadership Programme 2015 !  




Du lundi 14 septembre au vendredi 9 octobre 2015, les Forces aériennes suisses prennent part à un exercice de défense aérienne multinational du Tactical Leadership Programme (TLP), qui se déroule à Albacete, en Espagne. Les pilotes suisses participent chaque année au TLP depuis 2010.

En participant à cet exercice, le détachement suisse complète l’entraînement de défense aérienne qu’il ne peut exécuter que partiellement en Suisse en raison des mesures prises par égard pour la population. L’objectif est de développer les aptitudes et la capacité à collaborer des participants. L’armée de l’air espagnole est l’hôte de cet événement.

Pendant ces quatre semaines, une centaine de collaborateurs des Forces aériennes suisses, répartis en deux groupes, seront détachés sur la base aérienne d’Albacete. Quatre F/A-18 et un hélicoptère Cougar y seront engagés.

Une convention passée avec l’Espagne, approuvée par le Conseil fédéral, constitue la base légale sur laquelle s’appuie la participation à cet exercice.



Tactical Leadership Programme (TLP) :

La base d’Albacete abrite le centre européen d’entraînement au combat aérien, le Tactical Leadership Programme (TLP) dont nos pilotes vont bénéficier pour la cinquième fois (première en 2010). L’objectif du TLP est d’accroître l’efficacité des Forces aériennes dans le cadre de développement des compétences en leadership tactique et capacités de vol, la planification des missions ainsi  que les initiatives conceptuelles et doctrinales.

Les Forces aériennes alliées en Europe centrale (AAFCE) avaient émises il y a plus de 30 ans la volonté de la création d’un tel site d’entraînement dans un but non seulement d’améliorer les procédures tactiques mais aussi à l’élaboration des techniques qui renforcent la coopération aérienne multinationale.

La PR à Papa



Une fois n'est pas coutume, l'Europe de la défense avance dans les airs. Un centre référent pour la personnal recovery (récupération de personnel isolé) a été créé le 8 juillet, et sera complètement opérationnel l'an prochain, en Italie, à Poggio Renatico. Certes, ce n'est que l'échelon précurseur, en partie formé par des personnels arrivant du groupe aérien européen (GAE), une autre structure européenne (1) mais c'est le franchissement de la borne qui compte, le sujet était dans l'air depuis longtemps.
Ce centre organise actuellement à Papa (Hongrie) une session consacrée à la PR, réunissant des participants de 12 pays, dont les Français, venus avec deux Puma Resco de l'escadron d'hélicoptères 1/67 Pyrénées de Cazaux et un module de récupération au sol (MRS) du CPA30 de Mérignac.
Le principe : réaliser des missions de jour comme de nuit (18 en tout sur les quinze jours de vol) pour tirer les plus faibles vers le haut, et faire profiter à tous des meilleures pratiques en matière de PR.
Le sujet est porteur : ONG, militaires, ... journalistes se retrouvent parfois isolés en zone semi-permissive, voire non permissive, et il n'est pas trop bon de le rester trop longtemps.
Etrangement, la France a fait l'effort de venir avec des hélicoptères alors qu'elle demeure la nation qui en déploie le plus hors de ses frontières.
Par contre, pas le moindre hélico allemand ou britannique à l'horizon. Belges, Polonais et Italiens sont eux venus avec leurs moyens aériens, tandis que l'OTAN prête quelques heures d'AWACS.

Un Puma Resco du "Pyrénées" devant un Merlin de la marine italienne.

Les Puma Resco ont ouvert la voie à Madama en novembre 2014 : ils viennent seulement d'être relevés par l'armée de terre. Ils auront passé 15 mois dans la BSS, accumulant 800 heures de vol et réalisant 470 missions. #BEIJING, -- A joint naval exercise has been launched by the China's PLA Navy and the Royal Malaysian Navy in the Strait of Malacca for Sept. 17-22,
according to the state-run China News Service. The PLA has deployed the Lanzhou, a Type 052C guided-missile destroyer; the Yueyang, a Type 054A
frigate and the Peace Ark, a Type 920 hospital ship, as well as seven aircraft and 1,160 military personnel to take part in the exercise, the largest it has
ever held with a member of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.
