Zimbabwe opts for Super Mushshak
Zimbabwe has ordered twelve MFI-395 Super Mushshak training aircraft from the Pakistan Aeronautical Complex in Kamra, Pakistan (PAC Kamra).
This order is part of a larger arms and cooperation deal closed in November 2022. The aircraft will be replacing the SIAI-Marchetti SF260 operated by No.6 Squadron Aspire to Achieve in the basic training role. That will mean that Gweru-Thornhill Air Base will most likely become their future home base. The value and time line for this "multi-million" deal was not disclosed.
Zimbabwe has had difficulties in sourcing military equipment due to sanctions imposed by the European Union and United States. That means they have to find others sources and partners. For example, Nigeria was recently asked to provide technical assistance to enable Zimbabwe to maintain its F-7 and Mi-35 fleets. Coincidentally, the Nigerian Air Force also operates the Super Mushshak.
