La Russie a procédé en avril aux premiers tirs de démonstration des missiles hypersoniques qui dotent les systèmes anti-aériens Pantsir, a annoncé lundi à RIA Novosti le directeur général du holding Systèmes à haute précision Alexandre Denissov.

La Russie a lancé les recherches dans le domaine des armes hypersoniques il y des dizaines d'années. Actuellement, pratiquement tous les systèmes de missiles sol-air sont dotés de missiles hypersoniques capables de voler à Mach 3-4. Les recherches sont menées en vue de porter la vitesse à Mach 5-7.

"Les travaux dans ce domaine ont substantiellement avancé et sont passés de la phase de mise au point à celle des essais réels. En avril, nous avons procédé aux tirs de démonstration qui se sont déroulés sur le  polygone d'Achoulouk dans la région d'Astrakhan", a indiqué le responsable.

Selon lui, les missiles ont été tirés sur des cibles se déplaçant à une vitesse de 1.000 mètres par seconde.

Un détachement comprenant plusieurs systèmes antiaériens de courte portée russes Pantsir-S1 effectue des tests en Arctique, a annoncé dans une interview à RIA Novosti le directeur général du holding Systèmes de haute précision Alexandre Denissov.

"Nous sommes fiers que le rôle de pionnier parmi les systèmes de défense antiaérienne dans l'Arctique ait été attribué au système Pantsir S-1. Aujourd'hui, un détachement comprenant plusieurs systèmes de ce type est déployé dans les conditions extrêmes du nord et y effectue des tests d'aptitude au combat", a expliqué le responsable.  

La nécessité d'adapter les Pantsir S-1 au climat arctique a été évoquée début 2014 par le vice-premier ministre russe Dmitri Rogozine.  

Le système antiaérien de courte portée Pantsir-S1 est destiné à protéger les sites militaires et civils (centrales nucléaires, grandes usines, sites importants) ou à appuyer les systèmes sol-air de longue portée S-300 et S-400. Chaque véhicule doté du système Pantsir-S1 est capable de protéger un terrain dans un rayon de 20 km et à une altitude de 15 km.

Pantsir-S1 tire des missiles et des obus d'artillerie. Les missiles d'une portée de 20 kilomètres se déplacent à la vitesse de 1.300 mètres par seconde et sont capables de neutraliser les cibles aériennes les plus modernes (surtout les armes de haute précision). Les obus, d'une portée de 4 kilomètres, détruisent les cibles navales, terrestres ou aériennes à une altitude allant de 0 à 3 kilomètres. Le Pantsir-S est en mesure de frapper quatre cibles simultanément.

MOSCOW, August 12. /TASS/. Russia's modernized Tupolev Tu-160 (NATO reporting name: Blackjack) strategic bomber will enter service in Aerospace Defense Forces in 2021, Air Force Commander-in-Chief, Col.-Gen. Viktor Bondarev said on Wednesday.
"In 2021, we’ll receive a completely new plane, which will be capable of solving any tasks assigned to it," the commander-in-chief said in an interview with Rossiya-24 TV Channel.
Russia’s Defense Ministry held a thorough analysis jointly with the industry to prepare and restart the production of the Tu-160 bomber, he said.
"This plane is needed very much," the commander-in-chief said.



Russia’s Defense Ministry has made a decision this year to restart the serial production of the Tu-160 strategic bombers.
The Russian Air and Space Force is expected to receive no less than 50 new planes, which will enter into serial production in 2023.
The Russian Air Force currently operates about 15 Tu-160 (NATO reporting name: Blackjack) supersonic strategic bombers.
Russia is currently developing a new strategic bomber dubbed PAK DA (prospective aviation complex of long-range aviation). The new bomber was expected to make its first flight in 2019 and become operational in the Russian Air Force approximately in 2023-2025, but its development has been postponed amid plans to resume series production of the Tu-160M2 bomber in 2023.

Almaz-Antey develops enhanced version of the Buk air defense missile system

Russia’s Tikhomirov R&D institute of instrument-making, which is part of Almaz-Antey defense manufacturer, is developing a new-generation air defense missile system as a follow-up to the Buk antiaircraft complexes, Institute Chief Yuri Bely said on Wednesday August 12, 2015.


The management of Almaz-Antey Group has set the task of working out proposals on further developing the Buk antiaircraft missile systems. We’ll prepare and submit these proposals jointly with the Group to the Defense Ministry,” he said.

“Without waiting for a final decision and with the Group’s full support, the institute has already launched work now to develop promising technical solutions,” Bely said.

Latest variant of the Buk air-defense system is the Buk-M3, which is currently under development. The Russian armed forces could start getting advanced Buk-M3 air defense missile system in 2016. The Buk-M3 was presented for the first time during the MAKS 2013 Moscow Air Show with a graphical representation.




The Buk-M3 medium-range surface-to-air missile systems, a modernized version of the Buk-M1 system (NATO reporting name SA-11 Gadfly), features advanced electronic components and could be regarded as a completely new system.

The Buk-M3 has a max engagement range of 70 km (43 mi), 25 km (16 mi) more than the M2.

Russia's new maritime doctrine

ussian president Vladimir Putin used the occasion of the Navy Day festivities on 26 July to announce the approval of a new 'Maritime Doctrine-2015' for the Russian Federation. Nikolai Novichkov assesses the key changes.

The last time Russia issued a maritime doctrine - which codifies the country's naval priorities, strategy, and procurement - was in 2001, so a new document was thus overdue. According to Russian deputy prime minister Dmitry Rogozin there were two main reasons behind changes the 2015 doctrine brings into play: the changed international situation and improvements to Russia's navy since the last doctrine.

Regional focus

Maritime Doctrine-2015 divides Russian naval policy between six regions: Atlantic, Arctic, Antarctic, Caspian, Indian Ocean, and Pacific. Within each region the doctrine assesses four naval functions: operations, transport, marine science, and the development of natural resources. The focus of the doctrine is on two of these regions: the Arctic and the Atlantic.

The national maritime policy in the regions is to be enforced by the navy's strategic and operational units of the Northern, Pacific, Baltic, and Black Sea fleets and the Caspian flotilla.

Rogozin notes the Atlantic has been emphasised because of NATO expansion, the need to integrate Crimea and the Sevastopol naval base into the Russian economy, and to re-establish a permanent Russian Navy presence in the Mediterranean.

Meanwhile, the Arctic focus is down to the growth of the Northern Sea Route, the need for free entry into the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans, and the wealth of the continental shelf.

To implement the doctrine's provisions related to the Atlantic and Arctic regions, the structure and performance of the Baltic, Black Sea and Northern fleets will be improved. Enhancements to the combat capabilities of the fleets are also planned. For example, the Black Sea Fleet's infrastructure in Crimea and Novorossiysk will be bolstered.

Shipbuilding strategy

The 2015 doctrine adds a new section to the mix: shipbuilding. This, the doctrine states, is due to the re-emergence of the Russian shipbuilding sector over the past 10-15 years.

Admiral Victor Chirkov, commander-in-chief of the Russian Navy states that the navy's priority is to develop and deploy advanced equipment to enable Russia to make up for lost ground (against rivals) and to become superior to them in certain areas. In addition to refitting the fleets, the navy is looking to build up stocks of weaponry and materiel; improve naval command and control (C2); integrate joint force C2 into the various theatres; and improve the navy's basing and support systems.

Among these, priority will be given to supporting Russia's ballistic missile submarines (SSBNs) and nuclear attack submarines (SSNs) within the Northern and Pacific fleets.

Additionally, the doctrine seeks to create a general-purpose marine force armed with long-range and high-precision strike systems capable of providing a non-nuclear deterrent.

The navy's future surface fleet is to be divided between long-range multirole vessels and short-range vessels with modular capabilities. Looking ahead, the service intends to field a multi-service naval strike force capable of quick relocation to threatened areas.

The doctrine also foresees the introduction of new and innovative technologies such as: artificial intelligence systems, unmanned aerial, surface and underwater vehicles (UAVs, USVs, UUVs), non-lethal weapon systems, and new weapon types such as directed-energy weapons.

Russia will now look to create a single, integrated, and jam-proof fleet-wide C2 system for use at all levels from the strategic to the tactical. This is intended to be adaptable and to form a single information control complex to enable network-centric command of diverse naval and joint-service assets in any theatre of operations.

In connection with the maritime doctrine, and amendments in some aspects of force development, the Russian Navy is expected to gain some additional resources because the creation of a well-balanced and equipped naval force is a long-term effort of 30-40 years. Considering this and the duration of ship design/construction work, the conceptual approach to the development of the navy will be an ongoing issue for 45-50 years.

To take account of the implementation time and existing/forecast resource and technology restrictions, the creation of the new-model navy has been divided into three phases: up to 2020; 2021-2030; and 2031-2050. The content of each phase was outlined by Adm Chirkov for the various elements of the navy.

Strategic nuclear forces

Up until 2020 the maritime strategic nuclear force will focus on completing the development and launching of its fourth-generation Borey-class (Project 955/955A) SSBNs, while maintaining its remaining Delta III/IV-class (Project 667BDR/667BDRM) SSBNs in operational service.

During the 2021-2030 phase work will proceed on replacing the Delta class with fourth-generation SSBNs. Within this second phase Russia will also work on developing a new ship-based (in fact submarine-based) strategic missile system and a fifth-generation SSBN class. The doctrine sets out that series production of the fifth-generation SSBN will then commence in the final 2031-2050 phase.

General-purpose force

The general-purpose marine force inventory will include in its first phase the creation of a strategic non-nuclear deterrent force, enhancements to its SSN and diesel-electric submarines (SSKs), the build-up of the inventory and capability of its surface forces, and the creation of the new marine rapid-response force. In the mid term the non-nuclear deterrent will be provided by Yasen-class (Project 885M) SSNs and Oscar-class (Project 885M) nuclear-powered guided missile submarines (SSGNs). Meanwhile, the capability of Russia's non-strategic submarines will be ensured by upgrading its third-generation SSNs and building a new generation of SSKs.

During the 2021-2030 phase Russia's existing SSN/SSK fleet is planned to be improved by adding unmanned technologies, while construction of a new-generation SSN class is also planned.

Surface fleet

In the first phase Russia's Admiral Gorshkov-class (Project 22350) frigates and Steregushchy-class (Project 20380) corvettes and their variants will become the core of the surface force for long- and short-range operations.

In the mid term a new-generation destroyer featuring advanced strike, air defence and missile defence capabilities will become the navy's main oceangoing ship. Between 2021 and 2030 a new class of modular multirole surface combat ship will be designed and enter series production as the successor to the Project 22350/20380 classes. It is envisaged that these will be armed with novel weapon systems and will carry unmanned vehicles of various sorts.

The marine rapid-response force is intended to be capable of conducting missions in the maritime, aerial and land domains in any part of the world. For this, new aircraft carriers will be the core of its capability, along with multirole landing ships. Work to design a new class of Russian aircraft carrier is to be completed before 2020, with construction and entry into service planned for the second phase of the doctrine (2021-2030).

Unlike the heavy aircraft cruisers of the previous generation of Russian aircraft carriers, the new carrier design will be multirole. It is envisaged to be equipped with manned and unmanned combat systems operating in the air, at sea, underwater and possibly in space. The carrier's air groups will include radar surveillance and C2 aircraft, alongside reconnaissance and strike UAVs.

Naval Aviation

For the Russian Naval Aviation the focus in the first phase will be the development and serial production of an advanced maritime patrol aircraft (MPA) by 2020.

Additionally, Russia will look to develop and produce a new shore/ship-based multirole helicopter (to replace the Ka-27) and acquire a ship-based combat helicopter (the Ka-52K). Russia will also seek to develop advanced airborne strike systems.

The second phase will see the deployment of the new Russian ship-based radar surveillance aircraft, ship-based UAVs, and ship-based strike aircraft. The 2021-2030 period will see the Russian Naval Aviation transition to optionally piloted aircraft, including those derived from existing manned aircraft. Obsolete aircraft are to be replaced by modern, multirole manned and unmanned aircraft. During the 2031-2050 phase naval aviation focus will switch to a new generation of multirole aircraft and UAVs and field a new generation of airborne precision weapon systems.

Coastal forces

The first phase of the doctrine concerning Russia's coastal troops and marine force aims to achieve: the completion of development of advance coastal-defence missiles and the issuing of them; and the enhancement of the marine brigade's ability to operate in different climates, including extreme Arctic conditions.

Between 2021 and 2030 the doctrine plans the introduction of a highly mobile amphibious combat vehicle for the coastal troops so that they can support the marines' operations. The marines are also earmarked to begin receiving unmanned platforms during this period, possibly armed with directed-energy weapons or powered by alternative energy sources.

Long term

The direction of the final 2031-2050 phase is currently being analysed, according to Adm Chirkov. However, it is envisaged that during this final phase the following will be undertaken: series production of new-generation submarines; ongoing series production of the new aircraft carrier class; the start of series production of the new multirole ship class; the creation of a new generation of multirole unmanned systems; and the arming of coastal defence troops with new-generation unmanned missile systems capable of striking air, surface, sub-surface and space targets.

Long-term plans (by 2050) also call for a transition to modular combat platforms for both surface ships and submarines.

La phase de recherches et développement du nouveau chasseur-intercepteur à longue portée PAK-DP (Predpolagayemyy vozdukha Kompleks dlya Dal'ney Perekhvat) visant à remplacer le MiG-31 ne sera pas lancé avant 2019, a annoncé le General Viktor Bondarev, commandant en chef des forces aériennes russes à l'agence russe Tass.




Le programme de revalorisation des MiG-31 est quasiment achevé a indiqué le général Bondarev. Sur une flotte de 200 Foxhound, c'est 130 MiG-31BM que va mettre en œuvre la Russie. Ce nouveau standard doté d'une nouvel avioniques, d'un nouveu système de liaison de données ou d'un radar multimodes, doit rester en service jusqu'en 2030. Soit, largement le temps de développer son successeur.

En attendant, le Foxhound, avec ses capacités air-air et air-sol, demeure un redoutable appareil. Entré en service début des années 80, il est capable d'évoluer à une vitesse impresionnante de Mach 2,6. Soit l'intercepteur le plus rapide en service.

Le missile Bouk-M3 est considéré comme l'un des meilleurs moyens au monde d'intercepter les missiles de croisière en basse altitude.

Les missiles sol-air de moyenne portée Bouk de 3e génération, une version modernisée du Bouk-M2, seront livrés à l'armée russe dès l'automne prochain et mis en service opérationnel en 2016.

Selon une source au ministère russe de la Défense, le missile Bouk-M3 figurera sur la commande militaire d'Etat pour 2016 et les Troupes terrestres s'en doteront dès la fin de 2015.

Le missile Bouk-M3 a une portée de 70 km, soit 25 km de plus que son prédécesseur Bouk-M2 considéré comme le meilleur missile de sa classe au monde. Conçu par l'Institut Tikhomirov de Moscou, membre du groupe Almaz-Anteï, le système Bouk-M3 peut engager 36 cibles à la fois et son missile est capable de détruire n'importe quel objet volant, y compris hypermanoeuvrable, et de surmonter les dispositifs de brouillage électronique. Le Bouk-M3 peut également détruire des cibles terrestres et navales grâce à son système de tir vertical.

D'après le directeur général de l'Institut Tikhomirov, Iouri Bely, la Russie a déjà procédé à la création du missile Bouk-M4.

L'Institut Tikhomirov crée en outre des radars AESA pour avions MiG-29, Iak-40 et drones.

"Armata will undergo manufacturing tests. After that, a decision on operational trials and entry into service will be made," Salyukov said.


The manufacturing tests will be completed in 2016," he added. Armata is a heavy unified platform created for tanks and infantry fighting vehicles. The new-generation tank boasts an unmanned turret, fully digitalized control and an isolated armored capsule accommodating the crew. Armata’s main weapon is a 125 mm gun. In principle, the vehicle can be armed with a 152 mm gun, too

Russia's artillery units launch massive live-fire exercises in North Caucasus

Russian artillerymen have begun drills in North Caucasus, using Grad, Tornado-G and Uragan rocket launchers, Russia's Southern Military District said in a statement Monday August 17. The field training will last until September 18. The troops will practice firing at targets from self-propelled howitzers, multiple rocket launchers and anti-tank missile systems.


Live-firing is being held as part of military drills of the district’s missile and artillery forces, which is also involving units with Iskander tactical missile systems, Tochka-U short-term range ballistic complexes, Msta-S self-propelled howitzers, mortars and anti-tank weapons.

"Fire will be conducted against full-size targets imitating combat hardware and engineering fortifications," the district’s press office said.

Artillery units are using over 10,000 pieces of ammunition, mines, rockets and missiles of all types and classes.

Overall, the exercises involves more than 5,500 personnel and about 1,200 armaments and pieces of combat hardware.

"In the course of the field training, which will last until September 18, members of the Missile Troops and Artillery will work on firing at single and multiple targets from 152 mm self-propelled howitzers Akatsiya, Msta-S and Msta-B, multiple rocket launchers Grad, Tornado-G and Uragan, anti-tank missile systems Shturm-S, 120mm mortars Podnos and Sani," the statement reads.

The military district also said that drills using drones have kicked off at a Russian military base in Armenia.

Les forces armées russes souffrent d’un mal endémique : la corruption, avec son lot d’irrégularités dans les appels d’offres, de reventes de biens et de produits médicaux, de surfacturations, de pots-de-vins…

En 2011, le procureur militaire de Russie s’était inquiété de l’importance du phénomène. À l’époque, pas moins de 6 généraux et de 170 officiers supérieurs avaient été démis de leurs fonctions et poursuivis en justice pour des faits de corruption.

Depuis, on peut désormais ajouter à cette liste le général Vladimir Tchirkine, qui n’est rien de moins que l’ancien chef d’état-major des forces terrestres russes.

En 2008, ce dernier, alors commandant du district militaire du Centre, a accepté une enveloppe de 450.000 roubles (6.200 euros) de la part d’un officier en échange d’un appartement de service. Seulement, le général Tchirkine a pris l’argent sans honorer sa promesse. D’où le dépôt d’une plainte par son subordonné. Plainte qui a donné lieu à son procès, qui s’est teminé le 14 août.

Nommé chef d’état-major des forces terrestres russes en 2012, le général Tchirkine a en outre été accusé d’avoir autorisé des « transactions douteuses » lors de la vente de biens immobiliers appartenant au ministère de la Défense par le département militaire du Comité d’enquête russe. D’où son limogeage en décembre 2013.

Cela étant, à l’issue de son procès, le tribunal militaire de Moscou a retenu les charges reprochées au général Tchirkine et l’a condamné à 5 ans de prison. L’ancien chef d’état-major été dégradé dans la salle d’audience avant d’être incarcéré.

Russia is moving air defense systems modified for the harsh Arctic environment to key areas near its borders with Norway and the US, the US Army's Foreign Military Studies Office (FMSO) notes in its August 2015 report.




According to the FMSO, the Kremlin is looking to place short-to-medium range antiaircraft SA-22 Pantsir-S1 battalions at Murmansk by the Norwegian border and at unspecified locations in the east of Russia facing both the US and Japan.

The twin-barreled Pantsir is a staple of Russian air defense, the FMSO notes. It has a range of upwards of 19 miles and can function in temperatures as low as -58 degrees Farenheit, making it the perfect weapon for Russia to deploy to its planned string of military bases throughout the Arctic.

Altough it's primarily an air defense system, RIA Novosti notes that the Pantsir can also "protect the defended asset from ground-based and water surface-based threats."

Salon MAKS : le premier « avion invisible » russe sera présenté au public

La XIIe édition du Salon aéronautique international MAKS-2015 se tiendra à Joukovski (région de Moscou) du 25 au 30 août. Un exemplaire de l’avion de chasse furtif de 5e génération MiG 1.44 MFI sera présenté à l’exposition stationnaire. Bien que le projet de fabrication en série ait été abandonné suite au lancement du programme PAK FA, l’intérêt pour ce chasseur au destin dramatique ne faiblit pas.

La particularité du MiG 1.44, qui sera présenté à tous les visiteurs de MAKS, est que l’appareil n’avait jusqu’ici été montré à personne, outre une courte présentation aux journalistes en 1999. À l’époque, l’appareil ne volait pas et ne comptait à son actif qu’une course sur la piste de décollage.

Le bureau de constructeurs Mikoyan a équipé le chasseur multifonctionnel de front – c’est ainsi que le nouvel appareil a été classifié – de capacités telles que le vol de croisière à la vitesse supersonique, la super-maniabilité, une faible empreinte radar et thermique, un décollage rapide et un roulement court à l’atterrissage. Il est doté des dernières technologies informatiques dans ses équipements radar de bord, de nouveaux systèmes de contrôle dernier cri et bien d’autres fonctionnalités. Ces innovations, loin d’augmenter son prix, étaient censées réduire les coûts de manutention de l’avion en vol et au sol.

Concurrent de F-22

Comme le bureau de constructeurs Mikoyan n’a lancé le projet d’ébauche et de maquette de l’avion qu’en 1991, le nouvel appareil n’a pas connu un sort favorable. Après avoir traversé les turbulences financières des années 90 et la restructuration au cours de laquelle le bureau a été transformé en Moscow Aircraft Production Association (MAPO) MiG, fusionné ensuite avec le KB Sukhoi, le chasseur multifonctionnel de front, classifié sous le numéro MiG 1.44, n’a décollé qu’une seule fois le 29 février 2000. Vladimir Gorbounov, pilote d’essai et héros de la Russie qui a levé l’avion au ciel, a qualifié l’avion d’appareil au grand potentiel.
Toutefois, l’occasion a été perdue. Perçu à l’époque comme un concurrent potentiel au chasseur américain Lockheed/Boeing F-22 Raptor, le MiG 1.44 MFI a été délaissé pour un nouveau projet PAK FA (avion de chasse polyvalent T-50), lancé en 2002. Le seul exemplaire de MiG 1.44 capable de voler, conservé à ciel ouvert à l’Institut des recherches aériennes Gromov à Joukovski, a été transféré dans un hangar en 2013. C’est cet appareil qui sera présenté au prochain salon aéronautique MAKS-2015.

La piste chinoise

Néanmoins, cet excellent avion, réalisé selon le système « canard » et équipé de réacteurs à poussée vectorielle, n’est pas passé aux oubliettes. Il s’est même retrouvé au centre d’un scandale lié à l’éventuel transfert de technologies du projet MFI à la Chine.

Plusieurs experts sont convaincus que les avancées technologiques obtenues pour le MiG 1.44 ont été utilisées pour la création du chasseur chinois de 5e génération Chengdu J-20. La même thèse a été avancée début août 2011 par un journaliste de Reuters, transmise par une source anonyme. Le 25 août 2011, l’attachée de presse de MiG Fedorova a nié les spéculations et a déclaré au journaliste de RIA Novosti que « la Russie n’avait jamais fourni et ne fournira jamais d’unités, ni d’agrégats à la Chine pour la création d’un chasseur de 5e génération Chengdu J-20 Aigle noir ».

Mais malgré cette déclaration, certains experts restent persuadés que les technologies et les esquisses du chasseur MiG 1.46, une version perfectionnée du MiG 1.44, auraient pu être vendues à la Chine. L’analyste indépendant et spécialiste des relations sino-russes Adile Moukachev estime qu’il s’agit d’un accord commercial. « Les Chinois ont acheté les études de certaines unités de Mikoyan », a-t-il déclaré au périodique spécialisé Bastion.

Quoi qu’il en soit, le MFI 1.44 sera présenté au public en 2015. Cela signifie que l’appareil auparavant ultrasecret a cessé de l’être et a définitivement perdu toute chance d’être fabriqué en série en Russie.

The Russian Navy's sole aircraft carrier, Admiral Kuznetsov , has completed three months in dry dock, the Russian Ministry of Defence (MoD) confirmed on 20 August.

Admiral Kuznetsov was identified as being in refit at the end of May at the 82 Shipyard floating dockyard at Roslyakovo in Kola Bay, between Murmansk and Severomorsk (the headquarters of the Russian Navy's Northern Fleet).

According to the MoD, the relatively short period in dry dock involved cleaning and painting the vessel's hull, repair of onboard electrical equipment, and a general service of the ship. Some additional work will now be conducted alongside at Murmansk before the vessel again sets sail.

Admiral Kuznetsov , which was launched in 1985, was planned to undergo a major five-year refit between 2012 and 2017, but barring occasional three-month periods has not had a major refit since its two-year refit between 1996 and 1998. Although over the past few years the carrier has been an increasingly regular sight in the North Sea and Mediterranean, Admiral Kuznetsov has spent most of her service history moored alongside in Kola Bay.

Russian Navy Naval Aviation to Receive More than 50 New Sukhoi Su-30SM by 2020

According to state-operated domestic Russian-language news agency RIA Novosti, the chief of naval aviation of the Russian Navy, Major General Igor Kozhin said, that his units are set to receive more than 50 Su-30SM by the year 2020.


Su-30SM entered operational service with the naval aviation of Russian Navy in July 2014. Last year the Navy Naval aviation has inducted three Su-30SM, two more aircraft entered service on August 17 this year, three more will enter service in September and October 2015. It is planned that by 2020 Naval aviation of the Russian Navy will receive more than 50 Su-30SM" told Major General Igor Kozhin to RIA Novosti.

According to Kozhin, the procurement of Su-30SM will significantly enhance the ability of the Russian naval aviation groups. "With their great range, their air-refueling ability, their ability to deal with high-precision weapons for AAW, ASuW and air to ground, these Su-30SM fullfil the needs of naval aviation of the Russian Navy," - he said.
Based on the Su-30MKM and MKI variant for export, the Su-30SM is a specific variant for the Russian military produced by Irkut Corporation. The new version has been upgraded according to Russian military requirements with a new Bars-R AESA radar and specific radio communications systems, friend-or-foe identification system, ejection seats, weapons, wide-angle HUD and other aircraft systems.

According to Irkut Corporation, Su-30SM are super maneuverable twin engine jets, equipped with phased array radar, thrust vectoring engines and canards. The fighter is able to use modern "air-to-air" and "air-to-surface" high-precision weapons.

The Russian Navy Su-30SM are not intended for the Russian aircraft carrier Admiral Kuznetsov but operate from naval aviation bases on land. They have a two-tone dark gray camouflage and bear a St. Andrew's flag (Russian Navy Ensign) painting by the cockpit.

Procurement of these aircraft follow both a political and pragmatic decision from Russian autorities:
- Political because it provides some work to the factory (Irkut Corporation)
- Pragmatic because Russian Air Force procured the same type of aircraft, Su-33 carrier borne aircraft are not in production anymore, Mig-29K carrier borne aircraft do not have as much range as Su-30SM, Russian Navy naval aviation needed to replace its ageing Su-24 and finally, as state by the chief of Russian naval aviation, Su-30SM offers long range and can deploy all weapons already integrated in the "Su" family of aircraft.

The Northern Fleet Saint George and Kondopoga major landing ships of Russian Navy arrived in Dudinka port and transported servicemen and hardware including new TTM-4902PS-10 all-terrain tracked vehicle, involved in the interservice tactic exercise concerning defence of the important industrial facility located in the Arctic zone.


The major landing ships approached the shore, opened the ramp door in order to allow the vehicles and personnel move on the shore after passing a little water obstacle. Such way of debarcation is one of the safest and simplest for the assault units landing on unequipped shore.

The St. George major landing ship was first for debarcation. In total, 31 piece of hardware, including two-section all-terrain vehicles and multidimensional trucks, including the new TTM-4902PS-10 articulated all-terrain tracked carrier vehicle.

The TTM-4902PS-10 is a Russian-made two-section tracked amphibious all-terrain vehicle developed and manufactured by the Company CJSC «Transport». It was designed for the transportation of cargo, repair teams and equipment (up to 4000 kg) in off-road conditions. The first section is a power module (load-carrying caoacity 500 kg). It is able to carry 6 people and has 2 full beds. The second section is a passenger module (16 people, 6 beds).

The vehicle has a front part with engine and transmission and trailing part which may be a passenger module for 10 people, it may also be equipped with medical, command or sleeping modules. The height of obstacles can be up to 1,8 metres. TTM-4902PS-10 is a modular off-road vehicle with a reliable diesel engine, automatic transmission and simple controls.

The vehicle was tested in harsh conditions in the Murmansk Region north of the Arctic Circle before entering into service, is able to operate in temperatures ranging from —50°C (-58°F) to 50°C (122°F).

L'armée russe a lancé lundi de nouvelles manoeuvres militaires dans l'Arctique, un territoire dont Moscou a revendiqué plus d'un million de kilomètres carrés supplémentaires à l'ONU début août.

Ces exercices, qui impliquent plus de 1.000 soldats et 50 véhicules militaires et visent à "vérifier la capacité des forces armées russes à opérer en Arctique", se déroulent dans la péninsule de Taïmyr, dans le nord de la Sibérie.

"Ces manoeuvres ont lieu avec pour but d'accroître la sécurité de l'Arctique russe et d'assurer la liberté économique de notre Etat dans cette région", a commenté auprès de l'agence Interfax Vladimir Korolev, le commandant de la Flotte du Nord qui dirige les exercices.

La Russie a déjà mené en mai des manoeuvres militaires de grande ampleur dans l'Arctique. En juillet, le pays a modifié sa doctrine navale, mettant l'accent sur l'importance stratégique de cette zone, avec notamment le développement de la Flotte du Nord.

Début août, Moscou a en outre revendiqué devant les Nations unies, preuves scientifiques à l'appui, la souveraineté sur 1,2 million de km2 dans l'Arctique, aux vastes réserves d'hydrocarbures.

Cette requête russe, qui devrait être examinée dans les premiers mois de 2016, pourrait accélérer la course aux revendications dans cette région quasi inhabitée que se disputent depuis des années la Russie, les États-Unis, le Canada, la Norvège et le Danemark.

Une première équipe est attendue pour permettre à Moscou de récupérer les équipements spécifiquement russes embarqués sur les Mistral. Ce démantèlement lèvera les derniers obstacles à la vente des navires à un pays tiers. Paris aurait remboursé Moscou.

Une première équipe d'experts a quitté Moscou afin de discuter du calendrier qui permettra de récupérer le matériel et les équipements spécifiquement russes qui avaient été installés sur le Mistral qui devait être livré. Selon l'agence Tass. "la première équipe part pour la France dans les jours qui viennent " affirme une source anonyme à l'agence russe. Et d'ajouter que celle-ci a pour mission de signer un accord avec la partie française précisant notamment les délais et les détails technique de ce désarmement. Toujours selon la même source, une seconde équipe pourrait se rendre en France début octobre.

L'arrivée annoncée de ces équipes russes semble, en tout état de cause, confirmer les informations parues ce mardi matin dans la presse russe mais aussi, en France, dans "L'Opinion". Selon ces différents médias, Paris a versé les sommes liées à l'annulation du contrat de vente des deux navires. L'agence russe Interfax, le site internet Bloc-notes mais aussi l'agence Sputnik , affirment que Paris aurait versé 1 milliard d'euros.

De son côté, "L'Opinion" avance que la France aurait remboursé 950 millions d'euros et affirme que le Conseil des ministres devrait "aborder le sujet ce mercredi, avant que les données ne soient transmises au Parlement". Une somme plus cohérente avec les derniers propos tenus par le gouvernement. Mi-août en effet, Michel Sapin avait assuré que la facture serait inférieure au milliard, en réponse aux affirmation du Canard Enchaîné.

Du matériel qui pourra être installé sur d'autres navires

En tout état de cause, une fois le retrait de ces équipements russes embarqués terminé, la porte sera totalement ouverte pour une vente de ces bâtiments à d'autres pays.

Le matériel qui doit être démantelé concerne principalement des équipements de communication et de gestion qui avaient été développé et installés par la société Sistemi Oupravelnia. Selon elle, ces équipements pourront facilement être installés à bord d'autres navires russes.

The chief of naval aviation of the Russian Navy, Major General Igor Kozhin, declared recently to Russian media that a second aviation regiment (air wing) will be created for the sole Russian aircraft carrier Admiral Kuznetsov.


According to Kozhin, the Russian Navy decided to organize a new carrier based fighter wing consisting of 24 new MiG-29K (single seat) and MiG-29KUB (dual seat) multirole fighter aircraft. It is expected that the formation of the new regiment will be completed by the end of 2015. Kozhin said that at this point the manufacturer Russian Aircraft Corporation MiG (RAC "MiG") is to perform the final delivery of dozens of MiG-29K for an existing contract for these fighters.


Currently, the Russian Navy naval aviation has only one aviation regiment, the 279th separate naval fighter regiment of the Northern Fleet, based at the Severomorsk-3 air base (Murmansk Region). It is composed of two types of aircraft: Sukhoi Su-33 carrier-based twin-engine air superiority fighter, as well as Su-25UTG trainer aircraft (based on the Su-25 Frogfoot close air support aircraft).




The 279th naval fighter regiment is so far the only air wing for Russian aircraft carrier Admiral Kuznetsov. Earlier reports indicated that this regiment received 20 MiG-29K and four MiG-29KUB following a contract in 2012 to replace or supplement the Su-33. However, the statement of Kozhin suggests that the MiG aircraft will instead form a new rigment, while the existing 279th regiment is set to get renovated and modernized Su-33.
