The depot and General Dynamics Land Systems will partner throughout the next two years to produce 200 M1A1 Situational Awareness tanks for Morocco.

An additional agreement for 22 tanks is awaiting congressional approval.

According to Amy Weichel, chief of the Morocco Program Office for Main Battle Tank Systems, the first 50 tanks will be overhauled completely at ANAD utilizing M1 tanks currently in storage at the installation.

"This initial quantity will provide the country of Morocco with a sufficient quantity of Abrams training tanks until the remaining tanks can be delivered," Weichel said.

The additional 150 tanks will be rebuilt using the Abrams Integrated Management Process.

Tanks produced using AIM are disassembled down to the bare hull and sandblasted at ANAD then sent to Lima Tank Plant in Ohio where assembly of the tanks will take place at a GDLS facility.

Production is slated to begin later this year with the last tanks schedule for delivery in mid-2018.

"This will assist Anniston in maintaining core skills for the Abrams tank at a time when domestic production has been paused awaiting the System Enhancement Program Version three," said Tommy Morgan, the logistics lead for the depot's Logistics and Business Development Office.

In addition to assistance with disassembly and overhaul of the tanks and some M1 components, the depot will also provide assistance in Morocco with deprocessing at ports of entry and field service repair, according to Weichel.

Special armor = chobam

En fait la notification dit que les M1A1 récupérés en EDA seront mis a un des formats suivants "to one of the following variants" :

- Situational Awareness Baseline Version
- M1A2M avec CITV
- ou M1A1 US Marine Corps version avec Slew to Cue.

Remarquez les achats de matos en bas, ils ne spécifie jamais le type de technologie et le type de matériel , il y a toujours "or" en fonction des versions possibles.

En gros les FAR ne veulent pas donner la version des chars, ce qui sous entend que ça va être une version avancée... il garde le flou.
Moi je pense que ça sera la version M1A2M le M pour Morocco ? On a eu plein de notif qui parler de mix entre M1A1 et A2 pour les 162 chars, et les chenilles pour M1A2 ...

Edit : La version avec CITV est une sorte de version SEP  le CITV est une thermal camera qui pivote a 360 degrés, elle permet au commandant du char de chercher et identifier des cibles indépendamment sur un écran, alors que le gunner est en train d'engager une autre cible ! Et cela sans faire tourner la tourelle du char grâce a la thermal 360 degrés, gain de temps.

The CITV is a powerful upgrade to the Abrams as it allows the TC to observe his surroundings with a high magnification and high resolution FLIR sight, and he can scan, track and designate targets independent of turret orientation. M1A1SA de base revient si ma mémoire est bonne à 5 M$ pièce. (premier contrat à 1B$ je pense pour 200).
Ce lot revient à 7.7 M$ pièce. C'est beaucoup ... Je pense donc au M1A2.

D'une manière général, avec un petit calcul rapide en additionnent les deux contrats diviser par le nombre total de chars, la pièce revient a environ 5.5 millions USD.
Un excellent coup quand même, un outil qui va révolutionner l'arme blindée des FAR. Avec les M60A3TTS entre autres (artillerie, IFV, APC...) on se dirige vers des brigades blindées très compacte.

J'ai entendu parler de BMP-3 moi. Sur le modèle des UAE ou Irak. M1A1/A2 + BMP-3

M2 a suivre

M2 Bradley avec BFT/outil numerisation du champ de bataille logiquement, pour accompagner les M1.
Via EDA puis upgrade ? Probablement.

je pense mix M113 ( déja recu) et soit AIFV ou M2

Le mieux serait les Bradley, d'ailleurs c'est la configuration utilisée par les Marines, cependant je ne sais si ca va être compliqué avec les BMP3 coté Link des données du terrain, communications.....

1. Thermal Imaging System (TIS). The TIS constitutes a target acquisition system which, when operated with other tank systems, gives the tank crew a substantial advantage over the potential threat. The TIS provides the gunner and commander with the ability to effectively aim and fire the tank main armament system under a broad range of adverse battlefield conditions. The Hunter/Killer technology provides the capability for the commander to search and acquire targets while the gunner engages priority targets. The hardware itself is UNCLASSIFIED. The engineering design and manufacturing data associated with the detector and infrared (IR) optics and coatings are considered sensitive. The technical data package is UNCLASSIFIED with the exception of the specifications for target acquisition range (CONFIDENTIAL).


Special Armor. Major components of special armor are fabricated in sealed modules and in serialized removable subassemblies. Special armor vulnerability data for both chemical and kinetic energy rounds are classified SECRET. Engineering design and manufacturing data related to special armor are also classified SECRET

The CROWS-LP (M153A2E1) is a commander's weapon station. It allows for under armor operation of weapons—M2HB, M2A1, M240B and M240. The CROWS-LP is an updated version of the M153A2 CROWS that is approximately 10 inches shorter; the CROWS-LP M153A2E1 increases visibility over the weapon station. The fire control system of the CROWS-LP allows for “first-burst” on target capability from stationary and moving platforms. The CROWS-LP incorporates a day camera (VIM-C), thermal camera (TIM 1500) and laser range finder (STORM/STORM-PI).

A determination has been made that the Government of Morocco can provide substantially the same degree of protection for the sensitive technology being released as the U.S. Government. This sale is necessary in furtherance of the U.S. foreign policy and national security objectives outlined in the Policy Justification.

Juste une petite question et une observation, est ce que l'on est sûr du nombre de m1 reçu et commandés ?
En enquêtant et en suivant un peu la chronologie des articles, je trouve que c'est bizarre , je me trompe sûrement...
La deuxième commande, au départ on entendait parler de m1a1 puis soudainement de m1a2....
Plusieurs médias annoncaient bien avant que ce soit officiel que les usa avaient validés une deuxième commande, enfin bref...
Est ce qu'il n'y aurait pas eu une petite magouille pour passer 2 commandes de 162 chars... Vous me dirais que je suis fou peut être, sûrement même...
Mais ce qui me met la puce à l'oreille, c'est que dans la commande officielle, il y a aussi une commande de mitrailleuses M240 au nombre de.... 324...

C'est parce qu'Il y'a 2 M-240 sur le char

Ah merci, je pensais que la coaxiale était intégrée au char, j'avoue que je ne connais pas grand chose en armement.

J’ai 2 questions :

1-Existe-t-il une entreprise qui propose un LWR (Laser Warning Receiver) pour les Abrams?

2- Qu'est-il arrivé aux 162 M1A1/A2 commandés en 2018 via EDA? Cela fait plus de 5 ans, ont-ils été annulés en raison de commandes de Pologne, de Roumanie et de Taiwan, ou sont-ils toujours programmés ?
