Bahraini navy to get Aselsan weapon stations

Aselsan announced on 6 May that it has signed a contract to supply an undisclosed number of remote-controlled weapon systems (RCWS) to the Royal Bahrain Naval Forces (RBNF).
The Turkish company did not identify the system and declined to provide further details of the contract but accompanied the press release with an image of what appeared to be a version of its SMASH naval RCWS on a MRTP 33 fast patrol boat.
The Qatari navy is the only known operator of MRTP 33s fitted with SMASH systems, which are armed with the 30 mm Bushmaster II dual-feed cannon that Aselsan advertises as the standard weapon for this type of RCWS.
However, the image that accompanied the Bahraini announcement appeared to show a SMASH with a 25 mm cannon and a different electro-optical system.
The SMASH is fully stabilised to enable it to engage moving targets at sea and has a separately stabilised electro-optical system that can be used for surveillance without aiming the weapon. The 30 mm cannon is capable of firing 200 rounds a minute

Royal Bahraini Air Force to receive F-16 Training Simulators
Aviation Defense News February 2022 aerospace air force industry
POSTED ON THURSDAY, 03 FEBRUARY 2022 16:34
According to a press release published by Lockheed Martin on January 30, 2022, Bahrain will receive F-16 simulators produced by Lockheed Martin to train pilots for national defense missions under a new agreement.
Royal Bahraini Air Force F-16C Fighting Falcon
Bahrain was the first country in the Gulf region to acquire the F-16 and the first in the world to procure the advanced F-16 Block 70.
Bahrain will have a fleet of 16 F-16s, which is the world’s most successful combat-proven multirole fighter. It builds interoperable capabilities within air forces, enhancing partnerships with allies and supporting national defense and security for nations around the world.
Since 2001, aviators from 16 allied nations have trained with Lockheed Martin F-16 training systems. To prepare F-16 pilots, the training suites will provide a simulation-based training environment that replicates all systems, sensors and weapons for a total training solution that can be networked together so pilots can train in various scenarios, aligning technologies to deliver advanced training while meeting affordability goals.
The General Dynamics F-16 Fighting Falcon is a single-engine multirole fighter aircraft originally developed by General Dynamics for the United States Air Force (USAF). Designed as an air superiority day fighter, it evolved into a successful all-weather multirole aircraft.

On 6 March 2024, the first three Lockheed Martin F-16C/D Block 70 Fighting Falcon fighter aircraft destined for the Royal Bahraini Air Force (RBAF) started their delivery flight.
The trio, consisting of two F-16C and one F-16D Block 70 fighters, were accompanied by two KC-135R Stratotankers and made a night stop at Morón de la Frontera Air Base in Spain. The new Vipers include F-16C 1603 (FMS 18-0003) and 1605 (FMS 18-0005), along with F-16D 1612 (FMS 18-0012).
In the upcoming days, the F-16s will proceed with their journey, culminating in their delivery to the Fighter Wing stationed at Shaikh Isa Air Base (Kingdom of Bahrain).
The procurement deal for the F-16s was inked in November 2017 by Lockheed Martin, the US Department of Defense (DoD), and the Kingdom of Bahrain. Pioneering the acquisition of the new-build Block 70 fighters, Bahrain became the first country to order sixteen Block 70 F-16s, distributed among ten F-16C and six F-16D models.
