Moscou veut plus de Sukhoi Su-34 !



Le ministère russe de la Défense prévoit de signer un nouveau contrat pour la livraison de plusieurs dizaines de bombardiers de première ligne Sukhoi Su-34 « Fullback » à la Force aérospatiale avec des capacités de combat étendues. L'avion intégrera la dernière suite avionique développée dans le cadre des travaux de conception expérimentale de Sych.

Le travail de conception expérimentale de Sych a été achevé en 2019. Il est envisagé d'installer des conteneurs de reconnaissance sous-suspendus sur les Su-34. De plus, la gamme d’armement sera étendue. A termes, l’ensemble de la flotte sera mise à jour.

Aujourd'hui, la Force aérospatiale russe exploite de 130 bombardiers de première ligne Su-34 « Fullback ».

Le Sukhoi Su-34 « Fullback » :

Le Su-34 « Fullback » peut attaquer des cibles terrestres, maritimes et aériennes, de jour comme de nuit et par tous les temps, en utilisant l’ensemble des types de munitions en service en Russie. En termes de capacités opérationnelles, il s'agit d'un appareil de génération 4+. Son système de sécurité active avec les nouveaux ordinateurs, fournit des capacités supplémentaires pour le pilote et le navigateur, pour effectuer des bombardements précis et à manœuvrer sous le feu ennemi. L’excellente aérodynamique de l’avion, les grands réservoirs de carburant de capacité interne, la nouvelle génération de moteurs plus économe en carburant, doté d’une commande numérique. Font que le Su-34 de bombardement tactique, se trouve très proche de la catégorie de bombardier stratégique de classe moyenne. L’avion dispose d'un système de brouillage numérique Khibiny L175V / KS418 grâce auquel l'avion peut être utilisé comme un brouilleur de combat aérien. Les deux radars (avant et arrière) sont couplés à un système de ciblage électro-optique qui est capable de capturer et de surveiller de façon continue plusieurs cibles simultanément.

Le Su-34 dispose également d’un système de communication et le système d'échange d'informations de type liaison16 (Link16) lui permettant une interface avec des troupes terrestres et des navires de surface, ainsi qu’avec d’autres aéronefs. Les caractéristiques du Su-34 incluent un rayon d’action jusqu'à 4000 km en convoyage, une vitesse maximale de 1900 km/h, et une charge utile de jusqu'à 8 tonnes. L'espace entre les sièges du cockpit permet de se coucher dans le couloir, le cas échéant. Un office et un WC sont situés derrière les sièges de l'équipage.

Oversized Cage Armor on Russian T-72 Main Battle Tank in Ukraine


On April 9, 2024, social media platforms showcased images of a Russian T-72 main battle tank with a massive drone cage covering almost the
entire vehicle, humorously nicknamed the "Iron Mess". This type of armor, known as "cage armor" or "armor cage," consists of a metallic grid
structure mounted around the most vulnerable parts of the tank, such as the turret and main body. Its primary function is to prematurely
detonate the warheads of anti-tank hollow-charge missiles or intercept various unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), thereby reducing their ability
to penetrate the tank's main armor.

Russia deploys Iskander-M Missile Systems in Newly Formed Kaliningrad Military District Facing Finland


According to the Russian newspaper Izvestia on April 19, 2024, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu announced the reinforcement of the
newly formed  Kaliningrad Military District by introducing new formations. A separate missile brigade equipped with Iskander-Msystems has been
established in Karelia. Additionally, the 11th Army Corps from the Kaliningrad region and the 14th Army Corps from the Murmansk region have
been transferred to the district. Experts interpret these developments as a strategic response to Finland's NATO membership to strengthen Russia's
northwest borders.

An-22 to be retired

In 2024, the Russian Federation - Aerospace Forces (RF VKS) will cease operations of the world's largest turboprop aircraft, the Antonov An-22 'Antei' (NATO reporting name: 'Cock'). The transporter is operated by the 8th Military Transport Aviation Regiment (8 VTAP), part of the 12th Mginska Krasnoznamennaya Military Transport Aircraft Division. Scramble Magazine assesses that less than five An-22s are still active.

Early June, Lieutenant General Vladimir Benediktov, the commander of military transport aviation, made the announcement, highlighting the significance of Tver/Migalovo, the unofficial capital of Russian military transport aviation. “The 12th Division is stationed here. It currently operates the An-124, and before that, we had the legendary 'Antei', whose operation we are ending this year,” Benediktov stated.

This decision marks the end of an era for the legendary aircraft, which has played a pivotal role in both military and civilian operations for nearly six decades. The An-22 first took to the skies on 27 February 1965. Known for its exceptional flight capabilities and the ability to operate from unpaved runways, the transporter became an indispensable asset for transporting oversized cargo and equipment to remote and hard-to-reach areas in the Soviet Union. Its high payload capacity, long range, and fuel-efficient engines made it economically viable for various heavy transport missions.

Between 1965 and 1976, 66 An-22 aircraft were produced at the Tashkent Aviation Plant in Uzbekistan. Of these, approximately 60 were integrated into the Russian military transport fleet. The "Antei" is designed by the Antonov Design Bureau in the Soviet Union. Powered by four turboprop engines, each driving a pair of contra-rotating propellers, the design was the first wide-body transport aircraft and remains the world's largest turboprop-powered aircraft to date. The An-22 first appeared publicly outside the Soviet Union at the 1965 Paris Air Show.

The Russian military has adapted a Chinese all-terrain vehicle (ATV) for use as an improvised anti-aircraft unit, reflecting the ongoing challenges
faced by Russia in maintaining its modern military equipment amid significant battlefield losses.


The new makeshift anti-aircraft installation is comprised of twin PKT machine guns mounted on the chassis of the Desertcross 1000-3, a Chinese-manufactured ATV. The adaptation of civilian vehicles for military purposes underscores the severe shortages of modern military technology and the high attrition rates experienced by Russian forces.

Desertcross 1000-3 is an all-wheel-drive ATV powered by a 72-horsepower gasoline engine. It features a 50-liter fuel tank and has a total mass of 916 kilograms. The vehicle can transport up to 300 kilograms of cargo, sufficient for carrying towed mortars with a modest ammunition supply.

Despite its new military role, the Desertcross 1000-3 is originally marketed by its Chinese manufacturer as a recreational off-road vehicle for tourists.

Russian procurement plans include more than 1,500 units of these ATVs. The base model of the UTV is priced at 1.58 million rubles, while the fully equipped variant with additional functionalities costs 2.1 million rubles.

The use of such vehicles points to a broader trend of adapting commercial products for military applications, a necessity driven by the ongoing war and the need for flexible and mobile platforms.

Russian military receives new batch of Malva howitzers

Rostec, the Russian state-owned arms conglomerate, has announced the delivery of a new batch of 152mm 2S43 wheeled self-propelled howitzers, known as “Malva,” to the Russian Army.

According to Rostec, these howitzers offer greater maneuverability compared to their tracked counterparts, have a longer service life, and are more cost-effective to operate.

The “Malva” is built on a BAZ chassis with an 8×8 wheel configuration. It features full-wheel drive and a powerful diesel engine, enabling it to navigate challenging terrains. The howitzer’s ammunition load consists of at least 30 rounds. It has an automated fire control system that calculates firing parameters for all types of ammunition and includes a “simultaneous fire raid” mode, allowing multiple shells to hit a target simultaneously by firing along different trajectories at varying speeds.

Rostec emphasized the logistical benefits of the “Malva,” highlighting its compatibility with military transport aircraft. The howitzer can fit into the cargo hold of an Il-76 aircraft, allowing for rapid deployment over long distances.

Designed for a variety of targets, the “Malva” howitzer can engage command posts, defensive structures, artillery and missile batteries, air defense systems, armored columns, and enemy personnel.

The new “Malva” howitzers have already been spotted on the battlefield in the Belgorod region, near the Ukrainian border.
