First Moroccan satellite launched by Russia
The first-ever Moroccan satellite was placed into orbit on December 10th by a Zenith-2 Russian satellite launcher that took off from the Baikonour Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan. Morocco launched a research satellite named Zarkaa al Yamama in 2001. This satellite, weighing forty-two kilograms, was developed as part of a University of Berlin project called TUBSAT.
