The ceremony took place at the Enoura Plant at MHI’s Shimonoseki Shipyard & Machinery Works in Yamaguchi Prefecture.
The christening and handover of this vessel is planned for September 2022 after cruised to Manilla in May 2022.
Additionally, the christening and handover of the first vessel is scheduled for May 2022 after cruised to Manilla in early March, following outfitting work and trial runs.
MRRVs play an important role in severe-weather rescue missions and patrolling in offshore and coastal zones. This vessel has an overall length of approximately 96.6 meters, with a maximum speed of 24 knots and a cruising range of up to 4,000 nautical miles.
It is equipped with secure communication systems for Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) surveillance, a helideck and hangar for helicopter operations, an underwater remotely operated vehicle for subsurface search and survey, high-speed rubber boats, and other essential equipment for maritime domain awareness and maritime law enforcement operations.
The ship will make a significant contribution to enhancing the speed of response to maritime accidents or crimes on the Philippines EEZ and high seas.
This project is being financed by the Japanese government under a yen loan agreement corresponding to Phase II of the Maritime Safety Capability Improvement Project concluded between the Republic of the Philippines and Japan in October 2016.
The Teresa Magbanua-class patrol vessel is a class of patrol vessels being built for the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG). The class is based on the Japan Coast Guard's Kunigami-class patrol vessel.
The MRRV has a helideck and a hangar that can accommodate the H145T2 helicopter of the PCG. She also has a hyperbaric chamber for those who have diving sickness and a survivor room that can accommodate those who will be rescued.

First 20 Sabrah Light Tanks would be Arriving This Month
23 Desember 2021

Military to own first ‘real’ tanks by year-end
TARLAC CITY, Tarlac, Philippines — For the first time, the Armed Forces of the Philippines will get its hands on its first “real” and “modern tanks in the postwar era,” Army officials said on Sunday.
This after the AFP announced it was expecting the delivery this month of 20 Israeli light tanks that would be turned over to the to the Philippine Army’s Armor Division based in Camp O’Donnell in Capas town, Tarlac province.
Col. Anthon Abrina, the Armor Division’s chief of staff, said the military purchased from Israel the Sabrah Ascod light tanks mounted with 105-millimeter guns, Pandur II Armored Personnel Carriers (APCs) with 105-mm cannons and APCs armed with automated 120-mm carriers, as part of the ongoing AFP modernization program.
“Ito ’yung tangke talaga (These are real tanks). What we have now in our inventory are APCs” mounted with low-caliber firearms, Abrina said.
For territorial defense
The Sabrah Ascod light tanks are mounted with heavier-caliber firearms that were similar to the weapons that the AFP used during the five-month siege and retaking of Marawi City from Islamic State-aligned terrorists in 2017, he added.Lt. Col. Zam Taguba, public affairs officer of the Armor Division, also explained that while the Army only has APCs, these were categorized as tanks as these were mounted with weapons.
“Those that are arriving will be the first light tanks for the whole Armed Forces because its deployment would be more [centered] on territorial defense,” he said in a phone interview on Sunday. The current inventory of APCs are for internal security operations, he added.
“Currently we have more than 400 APCs of different variants like Simba Fighting Vehicle, V150 commando, Armored Infantry Fighting vehicle, and the M113 A1 and A2. The Sabrah Ascod and Pandur light tanks are the first modern tanks we will have postwar era,” Taguba added.
Next year, the Army is expecting to receive six-wheeled armored vehicles to replace the military’s four-wheeled tanks, Abrina said.
Top Army officers visited Israel this month to see the weapons being made available to the country, he said. “We know Israel produces advanced and state-of-the-art [weapon] systems,” Abrina said.
The military is recruiting skilled personnel who can operate and oversee the upkeep of the equipment, he said.
Ten more light tanks are set to arrive by 2023, Abrina said.

Philippines set to become first customer for BrahMos cruise missile
According to information published by Hindustan Times on December 31, 2021, the Philippines is set to become the first foreign customer for the BrahMos cruise missile system jointly developed by India and Russia.
BrahMos cruise missile at IMDS, Russia (Picture source: Wikipedia)
The BrahMos is a medium-range ramjet supersonic cruise missile that can be launched from submarines, ships, aircraft, or land platforms.
It was jointly developed by the Russian Federation's NPO Mashinostroyeniya and India's Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). The land-launched and ship-launched versions are already in service.
The Brahmos missile has a flight range of up to 290-km with supersonic speed all through the flight, leading to shorter flight time, consequently ensuring lower dispersion of targets, quicker engagement time, and non-interception by any known weapon system in the world.
Its cruising altitude could be up to 15 km and its terminal altitude is as low as 10 meters. The missile carries a conventional warhead weighing 200 to 300 kg.

Philippine Army to get new Sabrah light tanks and Pandur II IFVs
Defense News May 2022 Global Security army industry
POSTED ON MONDAY, 02 MAY 2022 14:48
The Philippine Army is about to increase its tank fleet with 20 Israeli-made Sabrah Light Tanks and Pandur II IFVs. According to Philippine Army spokesperson Col. Xerxes Trinidad, the upcoming armored vehicles are part of the army's Light Tank Acquisition Project under Horizon Two of the Revised Armed Forces Modernization Program (RAFPMP), AutoIndustria.com reports.
The Philippine Army is about to increase its tank fleet with Israeli-made Sabrah light tanks and Pandur II IFVs (Picture source: Philippine Army)
“As part of the Light Tank Acquisition Project under the Horizon 2 of the Revised AFP Modernization Program (RAFPMP), the 20 units of Sabrah tracked light tanks are expected to be delivered this year”, said Trinidad.
Elbit Systems won the Light Tank Acquisition Project of the Philippine Army. They will supply ASCOD 2 platform in different configurations: 18 tracked light tanks, 10 wheeled light tanks(based on the Pandur II), 1 command vehicle and 1 recovery vehicle. (144 ASCOD Sabrah Light tanks originally planned).
Sabrah is a tracked or wheeled light tank manufactured by Elbit Systems, a defense manufacturing company based in Israel. It is designed to complement the fleet of armored fighting vehicles (AFVs) operated by the armed forces worldwide. The tracked light tank configuration is based on the tracked ASCOD AFV platform, which is manufactured by General Dynamics European Land Systems (GDELS), a part of aerospace and defense company General Dynamics. Elbit Systems received a three-year contract worth $172m to supply the Sabrah light tanks to the Philippine Army (PA) in January 2021. The wheeled light tank configuration is based on the 8X8 wheeled Pandur II platform supplied by Czech Republican military vehicles exporter Excalibur Army.
Weighing 30t, the Sabrah light tank series has a modular design. It is equipped with a common 105mm manned turret for both tracked and wheeled configurations. The vehicle’s fully-electric turret drive provides stabilization in both elevation and traverse. The dual-axis high-performance turret provides hunter-killer capability. The tank provides an optimal combination of firepower and maneuverability. It can be configured to provide enhanced lethality. The Sabrah is fitted with armor protection systems to provide ballistic protection up to NATO STANAG 4569 Level 4. The vehicle can be integrated with active protection systems. It includes the company’s Torch-XTM battle management system. The combat-proven armored vehicle is also installed with electro-optical (EO) sights, fire control systems, and life support systems.
Another 10 tanks are scheduled to be delivered by 2023 and these will be based on the Sabrah Pandur II platform. Unlike the regular Sabrah which rolls on tracks, the Pandur II are wheeled light tanks. It will also have a 105mm main gun. “These armored vehicles are mounted with 105mm cannons. As to their organization, the tanks will be organic to the proposed activation of 1st Tank Battalion of the Armor Division to compose the first modern light tank fleet of the PA,” added Trinidad.
The ASCOD base platform of the Sabrah ASCOD (tracked) light tank is a seven-wheel station chassis with a light armored steel structure. It provides advanced mobility and mine protection capabilities due to ongoing technology upgrades, which are possible thanks to the open system architecture of the platform. The vehicle is powered by an eight-cylinder diesel engine coupled to a hydro-mechanical transmission system. The Pandur II platform of the Sabrah Pandur II (wheeled) light tank features a robust chassis with higher ground clearance and enhanced protection. The heavy-duty chassis enables high off-road performance. The 8×8 vehicle is designed to carry up to 14 crew. The platform is equipped with an automatic drivetrain management system, which adjusts the power supplied to each axle and wheel based on the terrain surface and driving conditions. The power pack includes a Cummins Diesel ISLe T450 HPCR engine with automatic transmission and cooling system. Other components of the power pack include an electric generator, air intake and exhaust systems, air-condition compressor, hydraulic pump, and driveshaft.
The Pandur II is an improved modular all-wheel-drive version of the Pandur 6x6 APC wheeled armored vehicle. It was developed as a private venture by the Austrian company Steyr-Daimler-Puch Spezialfahrzeuge. Steyr-Daimler-Puch Spezialfahrzeuge is part of General Dynamics European Land Combat Systems, which is also the parent company of MOWAG of Switzerland and Santa Bárbara Sistemas of Spain.

Defense News July 2022 Global Security army industry
POSTED ON TUESDAY, 12 JULY 2022 14:32
As reported on its Facebook page by Philippine Army Spearhead Troopers echoed by Defense Studies, the Philippine Army through its Armor Division is deploying its new Armored Mortar Carrier (AMC) with Soltam Cardom 120mm Mortar System installed on an M113A2 APC to 6th Cavalry Company Separate, supporting the 3rd Infantry (Spearhead) Division area, Defense Studies reports.
M113A2 Armored Mortar Carrier with Soltam Cardom 120mm mortar (Picture source: Philippine Army Spearhead Troopers)
M113A2 AMC is armed with a smooth-bore, muzzle-loaded 120mm mortar equipped with an automatic pointing system incorporating an electric drive system for elevation and traverse. It can be indirectly fired at a rapid rate which is 12 rounds per minute, or at a sustained rate of 3-4 rounds per minute.
The Cardom (Hatchet) is an Israeli 81 mm/120 mm Recoil Mortar System (RMS), manufactured by Soltam Systems. It is used by the US Army, the Israel Defence Forces, NATO countries, and others. It is an autonomous, computerized system for mounting on light and medium armored carriers. The system uses a new Computerized Integrated Navigation and Self Positioning and Aiming systems. Its modern Target Acquisition Devices together with a specially designed Recoiling Mortar System, attenuates the firing loads and enables mounting the systems on wheeled and tracked AFVs, or even soft-skinned vehicles such as trucks. The Cardom Aiming mechanisms are linked to state-of-the-art command, control and communication systems, to achieve quick response automatic laying mode. The IDF-delivered Cardom system takes target acquisition data, that provides range, bearing, position and other data from an observation point and transmits it directly to the Cardom system. Using electrical servo motors the mortar barrel is then set at the exact traverse and elevation angles ready for firing.
Performance
Range: 7,000-8,000 meters. Caliber: 120/81mm smoothbore and rifled. Maximum rate of fire: 16 rounds per minute. Traverse: 360°. Shoot of first round in less than 30 seconds. Crew: 2-4 depending on the carrier. Dual-mode : mounted and dismounted.

The BrahMos is a medium-range ramjet supersonic cruise missile that can be launched from submarines, ships, aircraft, or land. The missile is a derivative of the Russian-made P-800 Oniks over-the-horizon supersonic anti-ship cruise missile, with a range estimated at between 300 to 400 kilometers.
The BRAHMOS missile is the leading supersonic cruise missile capable of hitting sea-based targets beyond radar horizons. The missile with pinpoint accuracy can be launched as far as 290-km from the target.
It can be launched in either inclined or vertical configuration based on the type of the ship or user requirements. The potential carriers are Frigate, Corvette, Offshore patrol vessels, and any other type of ships.
The BRAHMOS missile has also been tested in vertical configuration from a moving warship. This has proved the missile’s vertical launch capabilities from a moving platform and also that of the Universal Vertical Launcher Module (UVLM), designed and developed by BrahMos.
UVLM, a next-generation system far superior to the design concept followed worldwide, will be used for future ship installation in a vertical configuration for BRAHMOS.
BRAHMOS can be launched in single or in a salvo from a ship towards single or different types of targets within an interval of 2-2.5 seconds in various trajectories. A salvo of 8 missiles can penetrate and destroy a group of frigates having modern anti-missile defenses.
