Falcon Air Meet 2007

This year Falcon Air Meet made in Azraq Air Base / Jordan. The meeting is especialy for F-16 Fighting Falcon planes and pilots. Members of the organization is Turkey, Jordan, USA, Belgium, Italy, Holland, Egypt and so on who has F-16 planes. There is competitions about shooting skills, loading ammunition speed against of time, cleaness of planes and so on. Anyway this photos from Turkish squad who competited there.

Joint Warrior exercice

The British Army’s rapid reaction force has demonstrated the unique reach and agility that its specialist air manoeuvre capabilities provide to the military.

An aviation assault to capture the airfield at Kinloss Barracks marked 16 Air Assault Brigade’s arrival on Exercise Joint Warrior, the biggest annual military exercise in Europe.

Troops from the 3 PARA Battlegroup landed at Kinloss in Chinook, Merlin and Puma 2 support helicopters, protected by Apache attack helicopters, to assault the airfield. Once secured, more troops and heavier equipment were delivered throughout the day by C-130 Hercules transport aircraft.

Airfield capture is a key skill required for the brigade’s role as the Air Assault Task Force, which is ready to deploy anywhere in the world at short notice to conduct the full range of military operations from non-combatant evacuation operations to warfighting.

3ème Régiment de Hussards

Mars 2014 - Centac Franco-allemand

Dans le cadre de sa préparation opérationnelle, le 2e escadron du 3e régiment de hussards, renforcé par les unités françaises et allemandes de
la brigade franco-allemande, a participé à une rotation au CENTAC à Mailly-le camp fin mars 2014.

A cette occasion, l’unité a été évaluée sur ses capacités, entre autre, à combattre en interarmes Binational. Nos hussards ont pu une fois de
plus renforcer leurs liens avec les soldats allemands sur le terrain et montrer leur expérience du travail interallié.

The Colombian Air Force continues Projecting internationally by participating in exercises that have provided the institution gain experience and professionalism to continue fulfilling its mission.

Exercice "Joint Warrior"

The gunners of 7th Parachute Regiment Royal Horse Artillery were the last troops to leave at the end of Exercise Joint Warrior.

A 105mm Light Gun, along with its Pinzgauer gun tractor and crew, were lifted off the ranges at RAF Spadeadam in Cumbria by Chinook helicopters on Thursday, 10 April.

Pakistani, Iranian Navies Conduct Joint Exercises



ISLAMABAD — The Pakistani and Iranian navies have engaged in a four-day joint naval exercise east of the Straits of Hormuz this week in an effort to improve security cooperation between the two neighbors.

The participating Pakistani warships, which arrived in Bandar Abbas on March 5, include the Agosta-70 class submarine Hashmat and the indigenously constructed missile boat Quwwat. They were returning from participating in the Doha International Maritime Defence Exhibition, which was held in Qatar.

Senior officers of both navies also met in the port of Bandar Abbas during the visit.

The Iranian vessels participating are not known, but its exercise with Pakistan follows a similar exercise held with the Omani Navy on Monday.

Iran is also increasing its naval presence closer to Pakistan with the announcement in February that it would build a new base in the Gwatr Gulf, close to the border with Pakistan.

A spokesman for the Pakistan Navy here, Commodore Irfan Ul Haque, said the presence of the Pakistani ships near Iran was part of a “normal visit” at the end of which a passage exercise would be conducted.

Analysts agree, but are unconvinced the Iranian-Pakistan naval relationship will be expanded much beyond the current level.

“These are just routine exercises and good for trust building and not much else,” says analyst Usman Shabbir of the Pakistan Military Consortium think tank.

However, when placed in the context of wider Iranian and Pakistani efforts to improve security cooperation, the exercises become somewhat more important.

“These exercises are of course necessary to build better relations, and now are even more important considering the cross-border attacks by rebels in Baluchistan,” Shabbir added.

Iran-Pakistan relations have been strained over recent months mainly, but not entirely, due to the poor security situation along their mutual border. Iran has accused Pakistan of not doing enough to secure it against smugglers and militants that have attacked Iranian security personnel.

The most recent incident saw five Iranian border guards abducted by the Jaishul Adl militant group in February. One was executed last month, and the four survivors released last Friday, reportedly swapped for eight Jaishul Adl members being held in Zahedan jail in Iran. Tehran claims the guards had been held captive in Pakistan, something denied by Islamabad.

Iranian legislators, however, approved a bill to improve security between Iran and Pakistan. Among other things, the bill deals with setting out areas of cooperation, delegating responsibilities to various ministries and financial issues.

This follows the signing of a bilateral counterterrorism security pact in February 2013 that involved agreements to counter drug smuggling, human trafficking and terrorism.

Though admitting she is unfamiliar with the “fine print,” Salma Malik, assistant professor at the Department of Defence & Strategic Studies, in Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad, said the pact “is a very good development, which was badly needed.”

“Iran is an extremely important neighbor and one time very good friend. Now the terms of endearment have converted into confrontation, and with US and Saudi Arabia as major stakeholders,” she added.

Due to the influence of Saudi Arabia and the US in Pakistan, she is uncertain just how deep this bilateral Iran-Pakistan security cooperation can become. However, she highlights that Pakistan desperately needs domestic and regional stability, and Iran is a part of ensuring this.

“Pakistan wants to have a stable, peaceful and strong domestic set up. We have to have a pragmatic, realistic and solid building of relations with our immediate neighbors, of which Iran is an extremely important cornerstone” she says.

Joint Warrior : tout savoir sur l’entraînement

La frégate multimission (FREMM) Aquitaine et son hélicoptère embarqué Caïman marine participent depuis le 31 mars à l’entraînement majeur britannique Joint Warrior 14.1. Cet entraînement rassemble 9 nations de l’OTAN et une nation partenaire (Royaume-Uni, Etats-Unis, France, Belgique, Allemagne, Pays-Bas, Canada, Danemark, Norvège et Nouvelle-Zélande). Pas moins de 23 bâtiments, trois sous-marins, une quarantaine d’aéronefs ainsi que 13 000 marins y participent. Il prépare les forces à œuvrer conjointement contre de multiples menaces.

La FREMM au cœur du dispositif

L’objectif principal de Joint Warrior 14.1 est de parvenir à un degré de coopération élevé et à un niveau d’entraînement collectif de qualité pour tous les participants. En respectant une montée en puissance progressive, la FREMM Aquitaine conduit à la fois des opérations de basse et haute intensité, et ce dans tous les domaines. « Intégrer une force de la coalition est la première étape et cela passe notamment par des communications régulières et solides avec les autres bâtiments et les états-majors embarqués. L’étape suivante réside dans la capacité à digérer un flux permanent d’informations à un rythme soutenu, puisque nous recevons plus d’une centaine de messages par jour, qu’il faut ensuite traiter et analyser pour conduire notre action. Enfin, la conduite en elle-même offre aux équipes de quart des opportunités d’entraînement de qualité avec nos alliés, quel que soit le domaine de lutte », déclare le capitaine de corvette Jocelyn Delrieu, commandant adjoint opérations de la FREMM.


De redoutables capacités dans le combat aéronaval

Les entraînements se poursuivent au fil des jours et des nuits, dont une partie consacrée à des entraînements de lutte anti-sous-marine, appelés CASEX. De plus en plus élaborés, ils consistent à repérer, analyser et éliminer des menaces sous-marines potentielles tout en escortant le porte-hélicoptère britannique Illustrious, le bâtiment amphibie Bulwark ainsi que le pétrolier-ravitailleur Orangeleaf britanniques, aux côtés de la frégate danoise de type FFH Triton. Passage à la vitesse supérieure avec le CASEX C12 confrontant le couple FREMM-Caïman au sous-marin nucléaire d’attaque britannique Torbay. Prises de contact et engagements s’enchaînent, faisant monter la pression de l’équipage, engagé dans une lutte anti-sous-marine et anti-aérienne intense.


Le Caïman Marine à l’épreuve du feu

Pour cet entraînement opérationnel majeur, l’Aquitaineembarque un hélicoptère de combat Caïman Marine, véritable système d’arme à part entière qui augmente très significativement les capacités d’action de la FREMM. Sa grande manœuvrabilité et son agilité lui permettent d’assurer des missions de lutte anti-sous-marine, anti-surface et de contre-terrorisme de jour comme de nuit, même dans de très mauvaises conditions météo. Depuis le début de Joint Warrior, l’hélicoptère est prêt en permanence à répondre au signal de l’officier quart opérations pour décoller en quelques minutes seulement.


Interopérabilité validée pour la FREMM

Depuis quelques jours, le rythme s’intensifie pour l’Aquitaineet les autres bâtiments principalement américains, britanniques et néerlandais qui, dans le cadre du scénario de l’exercice, composent la Multinational Task Force (MNTF). Leur mission consiste à rétablir l’autorité du gouvernement de Pastonia, pays fictif correspondant géographiquement à l’Écosse, lequel se trouve très affaibli par une guerre civile qui l’oppose aux rebelles de la People’s Republic of Pastonia (PRP).

L’Aquitaine est intégrée au sein du Task Group 315.02.01. Elle couvre un large spectre de missions : escorter les forces amphibies avec la frégate américaine Ross, relever la frégate anti-sous-marine Kent et soutenir le bâtiment amphibie Argus, afin de le protéger de menaces sous-marines.



De telles luttes nécessitent la capacité de pouvoir durer sur une zone d’opérations. Pour cela, la FREMM a réalisé plusieurs ravitaillements à la mer avec les pétroliers-ravitailleurs britannique et hollandais : Orangeleaf et Amsterdam. Dans un contexte de tension, il est  indispensable de pratiquer régulièrement ces manœuvres délicates. Elles améliorent la rapidité d’exécution et favorisent l’interopérabilité entre les bâtiments.

Patrouille maritime et chasse aux mines

L’interopérabilité avec des aéronefs de patrouille maritime, véritables éclaireurs de la force, fait également partie des attentes de l’exercice. Ils patrouillent pendant de longues heures et transmettent la position des sous-marins et bâtiments des rebelles PRP à l’ensemble des membres de l’Alliance (MNTF). Participant à des missions de reconnaissance terrestre appelées ISTAR, ils fournissent aussi des informations capitales à la conduite des diverses opérations.  Parallèlement à cela, au large de Luce Bay, et intégrés aux Task group 315.05, on retrouve les chasseurs de mines alliés - dont l’Andromède - qui agissent sans discontinuer pour quadriller et sécuriser la zone la plus exposée aux mines dérivantes et mines de fond.


Vérification des capacités militaires de la FREMM

Dans les jours à venir, la FREMM Aquitaine, couplée au Caïman Marine, continuera son parcours vers le Nord de l’Écosse en conduisant des actions de lutte anti-sous-marine par petits fonds, de lutte anti-piraterie au sein d’un archipel ou encore de lutte contre des aéronefs dans des reliefs montagneux. Ce type d’actions complexes, proche de ce que pourrait vivre le bâtiment sur de prochains théâtres d’opérations, contribuera à la poursuite de l’entraînement de cette unité de premier rang, parée à faire face à toute menace.

Comme l’indique le capitaine de vaisseau François Drouet, commandant la frégate Aquitaine, « Cette première participation à Joint Warrior permet de perfectionner le niveau opérationnel de l’équipage dans un exercice interallié de haut niveau. C’est un rendez-vous important pour la vérification des capacités militaires du bâtiment de par la variété et la densité des situations rencontrées. Il nous permet également de mesurer notre niveau d’intégration au sein de l’exercice avec les autres nations de l’OTAN. Jusqu’ici, l’Aquitaine répond parfaitement à nos attentes en menant de multiples missions avec rapidité et précision. »

 Polish and Czech paratroopers fight alike!

A two-week joint exercise of Polish and Czech paratroopers at the Polish military base, Nowa Deba, showed that troops on both sides employ very similar tactics or, in some cases, identical procedures for training and combat.

"The training exercise was viewed as an opportunity for sharing experiences and identifying differences in standards and tactical procedures," explained 1st Lieutenant Karel Karel, the leader of a Czech airborne platoon.

Czech soldiers were equipped with Polish small arms and, by conducting joint live fire exercises, they were able to compare their skills to those of their Polish comrades. "The soldiers used Polish Beryl rifles and the squad leaders its shorter version, the miniBeryl, both 5.56 mm calibre. We also handled the UKM Polish machine guns, and the specialist airborne squads handled the Polish Alex sniper rifles, the bull-pup versions, calibre 7.62 mm. We were delighted that we were able to keep pace with Polish paratroopers from the 18th Airborne Battalion, even though we were handling the arms for the first time," added 1stLT Karel.

"The results of your firing exercises were really excellent, even with the absence of the collimators you normally use during your training at home. Of course, the important advantage was in having the same calibre of arms, which greatly helps with manipulation and logistic support," added the Captain of the Polish Company, Marcin Wilga.

Besides the live fire exercises, the joint training programme included tactical and chemical warfare exercise, Combat Life Saver (CLS) procedures, and a demonstration by the Polish Explosive Ordnance Disposal team.

After reviewing the tactical and operational procedures of the Czech and Polish paratroopers, both commanders agreed that their methods are, in some cases, identical and, in others, very similar. "It is an important result for future combat cooperation, as well as the fact that defence units from different nations ably complement each other," said Captain Wilga.

This training exercise of paratroopers from both armies was yet another example of the continuing cooperation among the Visegrad Group countries (The Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia) in preparation for the engagement of service personnel earmarked for both NATO and the EU.

Un système sol-air SA-8 Gecko, d'origine soviétique, participe à l'exercice Green Shield

Outre les Rafale, les différentes versions du Mirage 2000 et les F-15 saoudiens, un "spotter" présent sur la base le Lundi 14 a pu remarquer un véhicule, qui n'est pas de conception européenne.

En effet, il s'agit ni plus ni moins d'un système sol-air SA-8 Gecko (9K33 Osa - Désignation locale en Russie). Le SA-8 a la possibilité de lancer des missiles sol-air à courte portée sur des cibles aériennes. Les missiles évoluent à une vitesse de Mach 2,4 et peuvent atteindre une altitude de croisière de 5.000m, avec une portée utile de 12.000m.

Dans un article publié par l'Armée de l'Air, à propos de l'exercice franco-saoudien, "les moyens de l’Escadron de Guerre Electronique (EGE) d’Épinal sont sollicités". Ce SA-8, est donc, a fort priori, de cet escadron.

Mais comment un système d'origine soviétique a-t-il pu se retrouver dans un escadron français ?

Lors de la réunification, à partir de 1989, de l'Allemagne de l'Ouest (RFA) et de l'Est (RDA), la France, y compris les Etats-Unis, ont demandé à l'Allemagne de leur fournir du matériel d'origine soviétique, pour qu'il puisse être étudié.

Ce SA-8 aurait été récupéré en 1993, et était entreposé sur une base en Allemagne. Un long parcours pour ramener le système a été mis en place, et les militaires chargés de l'acheminement du matériel ont dû faire face à quelques problèmes.

Mais ce SA-8 n'est pas le seul armement d'origine soviétique que la France a récupéré ! En effet, elle a ainsi pu étudier des SA-9 "Gaskin", deux SA-6 "Gainful" qui ont été "trouvés" au Tchad et qui appartenaient à l'armée libyenne, un Su-22 "Fitter", ...

Certains de ces équipements militaires soviétiques sont encore utilisés aujourd'hui, pour l'entraînement de nos forces armées, comme c'est le cas avec ce SA-8.

23 Nations to Participate in World's Largest Maritime Exercise

Twenty-three nations, 47 ships, six submarines, more than 200 aircraft and 25,000 personnel will participate in the biennial Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) exercise scheduled June 26 to Aug. 1, in and around the Hawaiian Islands.

The world's largest international maritime exercise, RIMPAC provides a unique training opportunity that helps participants foster and sustain the cooperative relationships that are critical to ensuring the safety of sea lanes and security on the world's oceans. RIMPAC 2014 is the 24th exercise in the series that began in 1971.

Hosted by U.S. Pacific Fleet, RIMPAC 2014 will be led by U.S. Vice Adm. Kenneth Floyd, commander of the U.S. Third Fleet (C3F), who will serve as the Combined Task Force (CTF) Commander. Royal Australian Navy Rear Adm. Simon Cullen will serve as deputy commander of the CTF, and Japan Maritime Self Defense Force Rear Adm. Yasuki Nakahata as the vice commander. Other key leaders of the multinational force will include Rear Adm. Gilles Couturier of the Royal Canadian Navy, who will command the maritime component, Air Commodore Chris Westwood of the Royal Australian Air Force, who will command the air component, and Marine Corps Maj. Gen. Richard Simcock, who will command the land component. RIMPAC 2014 will also include a special operations component for the first time, to be led by U.S. Navy Capt. William Stevens.

Two nations, Brunei and the People's Republic of China, will participate in RIMPAC for the first time in 2014.

Also new at RIMPAC this year are two hospital ships, USNS Mercy and PLA (N) Peace Ark which will participate in the exercise.

The theme of RIMPAC 2014 is "Capable, Adaptive, Partners." The participating nations and forces will exercise a wide range of capabilities and demonstrate the inherent flexibility of maritime forces. These capabilities range from disaster relief and maritime security operations to sea control and complex warfighting. The relevant, realistic training syllabus includes amphibious operations, gunnery, missile, anti-submarine and air defense exercises as well as counter-piracy, mine clearance operations, explosive ordnance disposal and diving and salvage operations.

This year's exercise includes forces from Australia, Brunei, Canada, Chile, Colombia, France, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, People's Republic of China, Peru, the Republic of Korea, the Republic of the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Tonga, the United Kingdom and the United States.

3ème Régiment de Hussards

Mai 2014 - 3e Rencontre internationale à Roth

Le 3e régiment de hussards a participé à la 3e rencontre interalliée de tir à Roth (Allemagne), dans la région de Nuremberg, du 07 au 11 mai 2014. Cette activité s’est déroulée en présence de représentants d'unités françaises, allemandes, tchèques et américaines. L’escadron de commandement et de logistique du 3e Hussards, renforcé par une délégation du 3e escadron était de la partie.

Les hussards ont pu tirer avec les armes des différentes nations étrangères et ont pu effectuer les brevets sportifs respectifs des nations représentées.
Dans cet esprit d'échange interallié, les hussards français ont pu faire découvrir le FAMAS aux soldats étrangers présents.
