L'inde de veut cesser d'être le premier importateur mondial d'armement et porter d'ici cinq ans à 70% la part de son équipement militaire produite sur son sol, a indiqué mercredi le Premier ministre indien Narendra Modi lors du salon aéronautique et de défense de Bangalore.
Le Premier ministre, qui a promis de relancer l'investissement, en particulier grâce à sa campagne "Make in India", a assuré que son gouvernement favoriserait les fournisseurs produisant en Inde lorsqu'il s'agira d'octroyer des contrats militaires.
"Nous avons la réputation d'être le premier importateur d'équipement militaire au monde", a-t-il dit à l'occasion du salon Aero India qui se tient tous les deux ans à Bangalore.
"C'est peut-être une musique qui est familière à certains d'entre vous présents ici. Mais c'est un domaine dans lequel nous aimerions ne pas être numéro un", a-t-il ajouté.
"Nous réformons notre politique d'approvisionnement en matériel de défense et allons accorder une préférence nette au matériel fabriqué en Inde", a dit Modi devant des centaines d'industriels indiens et étrangers.
L'Inde exprime depuis des décennies sa volonté de réduire sa dépendance envers l'industrie de défense étrangère mais n'y est pas parvenue, le pays devant en outre faire face à un équipement en voie d'obsolescence.
Depuis son arrivée au pouvoir en mai, le gouvernement de Modi a relevé à 49% la participation que peut détenir un investisseur étranger dans un groupe de défense en Inde.
Le Premier ministre a indiqué vouloir porter de 40% actuellement à 70% d'ici 2020 la production d'équipement matériel produite sur son sol.
"Une nation disposant d'une forte industrie de défense ne sera pas uniquement plus sûre. Elle en retirera également d'importants bénéfices économiques", a dit Modi.
"Environ 60% de notre matériel de défense continue d'être importé et nous dépensons des dizaines de milliards de dollars dans des acquisitions à l'étranger", a-t-il poursuivi.
"Certaines études montrent qu'une réduction de 20% à 25% de nos importations pourrait créer directement 100.000 à 120.000 emplois hautement qualifiés en Inde".
Le salon de Bangalore réunit des centaines de groupes de la défense et de l'aéronautique pendant cinq jours, notamment Dassault, Airbus ou Boeing.

C'est la performance le plus important. le JF17 est combat proven et déja a son block III. le Tejas se bat toujours avec ses défaut de jeunesse.

L'Inde achètera 56 jets de transport C-295 dans le cadre d'un contrat de 2,5 milliards de dollars
Le gouvernement indien dépensera 2,5 milliards de dollars pour l'achat de l'avion de transport tactique C295 à Airbus Defence, selon divers médias.
Mardi, le Hindustan Times a rapporté qu'Airbus Defence and Space et Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL) mettraient en œuvre conjointement le projet d'équiper l'armée de l'air indienne de nouveaux avions de transport moyen dans le cadre de l'initiative Make-in-India dans le secteur. aérospatial.

L'Avro-748 est entré en service au début des années 1960 et devrait être remplacé depuis longtemps, a déclaré le maréchal adjoint de l'air Manmohan Bahadur (ret), directeur général supplémentaire du Center for Aerial Energy Studies.

The PIB noted that this is the first procurement under the Ministry of Defence’s (MoD’s) ‘Buy (Indian-Indigenously Designed, Developed, and Manufactured)’ of combat aircraft featuring an indigenous content of 50%, which is expected to progressively reach 60% by the end of the programme.
The LCA Mk 1A, which was designed by the government-run Aeronautical Development Agency and will be built by state-owned Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) in Bangalore, is still under development.
Once completed, the aircraft will include four major capability improvements over the basic Mk 1 model, which is currently being series-built by HAL and inducted into the IAF. These include active electronically scanned array (AESA) radar, updated electronic warfare systems, and air-to-air refuelling capability, as well as the capability to fire beyond-visual-range (BVR) missiles.

Exactement Ssi Fahed, par contre ce que fait la France avec le Pakistan est très stupide sur le plan marketing à moyen comment ils veulent paraitre comme étant un fournisseur sur sur le plan mondial si au moindre changement idéologique et que quelqu'un allonge plus d'argent ils coupent tout (maintenance etc)

Has India has slowly & steadily been building its inventory of nuclear weapons that could be delivered, in times of need, by the newly-acquired fleet of Rafale fighter jets.

The procurement was not a surprise to many as the Indian Air Force’s fleet, prior to the arrival of the French-made aircraft, was in serious need of reinforcements.
But why did India choose the French-built fighters out of a long list of combat aircraft available to them under the medium multi-role combat aircraft (MMRCA) contract? The reason was due to the Rafale fighter’s nuclear advantage.
The 4+ generation twin-engine, canard-delta wing, multirole Rafale fighter has been designed as an Omni-role fighter, which has the ability to perform nuclear deterrence missions.
While the fighter boasts a wide range of weapons and can also fulfill a host of missions like air supremacy, interdiction, aerial reconnaissance, ground support, in-depth strike, anti-ship strike, its ability to provide India with a nuclear advantage seemed an offer too good to be refused by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The Rafale is considered on a par with the European fighter jet, Eurofighter Typhoon, also a 4+ generation aircraft.
But the fact that the Typhoons are produced jointly by Germany, Spain, Britain, and Italy, and the need for multiple clearances from all these nations prompted New Delhi to choose the French fighters instead.
“One reason for the political decision in favor of France’s Rafale was because the French had no problem with the Rafale being modified to carry a nuclear payload,” said former Indian ambassador to France Rakesh Sood.
“On the other hand, Delhi was not so certain about the Eurofighter, as it would involve clearing it with multiple countries including Germany,” he added.
Notably, India had chalked out plans for the Rafales long before the fighters actually arrived in the country.
According to a 2018 report, New Delhi had already possessed around 130 to 140 nuclear warheads in its arsenal, with plans underway to have more of them.
The report titled ‘India Nuclear Forces, 2018’ was prepared by Hans Kristensen and Matt Korda of the Nuclear Information Project at the Federation of American Scientists.
It said, “India is estimated to have produced enough military plutonium for 150 to 200 nuclear warheads, but has likely produced only 130 to 140.”
The report goes on to say that New Delhi had begun plans of setting up newer plutonium production facilities to cater to the growing need of the chemical element.
“Nonetheless, additional plutonium will be required to produce warheads for missiles now under development, and India is reportedly building several new plutonium production facilities,” it says.
“India continues to modernize its nuclear arsenal, with at least five new weapon systems now under development to complement or replace existing nuclear-capable aircraft, land-based delivery systems, and sea-based systems,” according to the report.
India had already maintained three or four nuclear strike squadrons of Cold War-vintage, French-made Mirage 2000H and Jaguar IS/IB fighters.
“Despite the upgrades, the original nuclear bombers are getting old and India is probably searching for a modern fighter-bomber that could potentially take over the air-based nuclear strike role in the future,” says the report.
Rafales are a key component of France’s nuclear forces and are likely to replicate that role for India. As India gets sandwiched between two nuclear-armed hostile neighbors, who happen to be “iron brothers”, the French-made fighter jets would help the country to counter their rising aggression along the borders.

The IAF’s AMCA Project, being progressed by the Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA, the aerial research division of DRDO), is expected to be a twin-engine multirole stealth fighter aircraft, with the first flight within the next five years.
According to the Air Force chief, the fighter jet would incorporate the latest technologies within the airframe, making it an advanced state-of-the-art fighter jet comparable to any such aircraft in its league worldwide.
Although being tight-lipped, Bhadauria told that the service is looking forward to the aircraft incorporating 6th-generation features, keeping in mind the future development of the aircraft and its usability with the IAF.
He also acknowledged that India had started the work later than most other countries, and thus it would be imperative to incorporate the higher generation technologies.
The Indian aviation manufacturing industry, mainly monopolized by state-owned Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, has been coping hardly with the development and production of the Light Combat Aircraft Tejas Mk-1 and Mk-1A, and now focusing on the prototype and testing of the Tejas Mk-2 (an improvised single-engine 4th/4++ generation aircraft of the Mk-1A).
It is believed that the experience gained by the development of the Tejas project would enable the Indian designers to prep up for a bigger leap, into stealth technology.
The Air Force Chief also commended the successful completion of the joint Indo-French exercise, which, uniquely, saw the participation of both Indian and French Rafale fighter jets.
He said that when the IAF received the Rafale aircraft, the first priority was to operationalize it and integrate it with the existing combat fleet. The service has successfully achieved that in a short time, and the joint exercise which involved other fighter jets including Su-30MKI and Mirage-2000I, was a live example of integration and interoperability.
“We have some pilots training in France and some in India itself. We have enough pilots to have a right cockpit-pilot ratio,” he said, adding that complete induction would be completed by next year.
Interestingly, cooperation with France has also brought a much-needed boost for the AMCA project for its powerplant, as it is being said that the aircraft is likely to sport an indigenous Kaveri engine whose development would be aided by the French company SAFRAN.

This batch of Rafale fighters is the third set of deliveries of the French-origin Dassault aircraft to the Indian Air Force which has ordered a total of 36 fighters (equivalent of two squadrons). With these Rafales no. 9 to 11, the Indian Air Force squadron now has 11 aircraft. The delivery of the remaining 25 fighters will take place later this year.

The planes flew to Jamnagar from France without a stopover on the way. Refuelling support has been provided by Indian and French air tankers. The first batch of five Rafales of the 36 ordered by the IAF reached the Ambala airbase on July 29, 2020 after a stopover at the Al Dhafra airbase near Abu Dhabi. The second batch of the IAF’s three Rafale fighter jets had reached the Jamnagar airbase in Gujarat from France in early November 2020 before they flew to their homebase in Ambala. Indian Air Force pilots are being trained in batches at the Saint-Dizier air base in France.
The fighter jet will be armed with HAMMER missiles. It will also be armed with beyond visual range MBDA missiles like Meteor, SCALP and MICA, increasing its ability to take on incoming targets from a distance.
