Mexican Navy has deployed their T-20 JUMP UAV for unspecified operations in Mexico May 4, 2016
Arcturus UAV reports the Mexican Navy has deployed their T-20 JUMP Fixed Wing VTOL UAV for unspecified operations in Mexico. The customer took delivery of the VTOL system in March.
The T-20 JUMP is a VTOL variant of Arcturus UAV’s catapult launched T-20 platform. The T-20 JUMP operates without any special launch or recovery equipment. Gross payload capacity is 60 lbs. The Mexican Navy configuration with EO/IR sensor has approximately 15 hours of endurance and 75-mile data link range.
An EO/IR and EW capable version offers 11 hours of endurance. Mexico has operated a fleet of catapult launch T-20s since 2014.
Arcturus has proposed the T-20 JUMP VTOL platform for MEUAS III, USSOCOM’s worldwide UAS services contract. Arcturus has also proposed a heavy fuel version of the T-20 JUMP for the Royal Australian Navy’s Tactical Unmanned Aircraft Program.

Mexican Navy begins operations with new UAV
Erwan de Cherisey, Paris - IHS Jane's Defence Weekly 03 August 2016
The Mexican Secretariat of the Navy (SEMAR) has deployed Arcturus T-20 JUMP unmanned air vehicles (UAVs) to the coast of Sonora for maritime surveillance operations, SEMAR announced on 29 July.
The surveillance system and its aircraft were officially handed over at the headquarters of the Naval Sector of Puerto Peñasco to the Mexican Navy on 28 July by the Secretariat of Environment and Natural Resources (SEMARNAT), which is understood to have financed its procurement.
Admiral Vidal Soberón Sanz, secretary of navy, said during the ceremony that the new UAVs are expected to provide a significant increase in the service's surveillance and interception capabilities in that region.
Rafael Pacchiano Alamán, secretary of SEMARNAT, said the T-20s will be primarily used as part of the government's efforts to protect a rare species of porpoise only found in the northern part of the Gulf of California. The aircraft will allow increased surveillance of a preservation area there, operating day and night to detect illegal intrusions and illegal fishing.
The navy's Arcturus T-20 JUMP surveillance system includes three UAVs that can be fitted with Cloud Cap Technologies TASE 200 or 400 gyro-stabilised gimbal electro-optics and infrared payloads, a vehicle-mounted control station, a logistics vehicle, control and satellite antennas, a pneumatic catapult for launching the aircraft, and a support vehicle.
The T-20 JUMP is an evolution of the original T-20 with added quad vertical rotors, thus providing a vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) capability. It retains other T-20 characteristics, including a maximum speed of 72 kt and endurance up to 16 hours, depending on the payload.

RIMPAC 2016: USN hones interoperability with partner countries in 'most complex' MCM drill
Ridzwan Rahmat, Singapore - IHS Jane's Navy International 04 August 2016
Key Points The US Navy has completed complex mine countermeasures drills with partner services at 'RIMPAC' 2016 The exercise aims to boost interoperability between the navies in handling mine warfare threats The US Navy (USN) has concluded a multilateral exercise that aims to improve its mine countermeasures (MCM) interoperability with partner navies.
The exercise, which took place in and around waters off Southern California over four weeks, was conducted as part of the US Pacific Fleet-hosted Rim of the Pacific ('RIMPAC') 2016 maritime exercise.
Partner services in the drill included the Royal Australian Navy (RAN), the Royal Canadian Navy (RCN), the German Armed Forces, the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF), the Mexican Navy (Armada de México), and the Chilean Navy (Armada de Chile).
In its statement, the USN described the MCM drill as the service's "most complex mine warfare exercise" given the number of participating services, and the inaugural deployment of a Whidbey Island-class dock landing ship, USS Pearl Harbor (LSD 52), as a forward staging base for the multinational forces.
In addition to that MH-53E Sea Dragon helicopters - airborne mine countermeasures (AMCM) derivatives of the CH-53E Super Stallion - conducted deck landing qualifications on Pearl Harbor 's flight deck as part of the exercises.
"These firsts during 'RIMPAC' [Southern California] 2016 provided a distinct and unique environment and experience for participants", said the USN.
"What was great about this exercise is that the forces of multiple nations came together to execute a series of very complicated evolutions and did so in a seamless and timely manner", said Commander David Burke of the USN's Task Force 177.
In total the participating services detected and disposed a total of 77 mines over the course of 78 operational dives, 300 flight hours, and 77 autonomous underwater vehicle operations.
"RIMPAC' 2016 ran from 30 June to 4 August and involved 45 ships, five submarines, more than 200 aircraft, and 25,000 personnel from 27 countries.
