The Tula Instrument Design Bureau (KBP) is completing its development of a new combined cannon/gun anti-aircraft system called Pantzyr-S1. The first of these systems are to be delivered to the United Arab Emirates by year-end.
According to Arkady Shipunov, who left the position of KBP's general director in late September, the Pantzyr's export backlog already has reached $2.6 billion. In addition to the United Arab Emirates — which financed the system's development and became its launch customer — Syria and Algeria also have placed orders. Shipunov said that negotiations on the delivery of additional systems are being held with five more countries in North Africa, Southeast Asia and Europe.

Irkut takes over from NAZ Sokol as Yak-130 manufacturer

The Russian defence ministry has approved manufacturer United Aircraft's (OAK) decision to move Yak-130 production from NAZ Sokol to NPK Irkut's IAZ factory in Irkutsk.

NAZ Sokol will retain responsibility for production and delivery of the first production batch of 12 aircraft, which will be equipped with IAZ-produced wings, but subsequent aircraft will be built by NPK Irkut, which also owns the Yakovlev design bureau.

Yakovlev and IAZ are digitising the Yak-130's engineering drawings, making it the first Russian military aircraft to be fully digitised.

The first batch of IAZ-built Yak-130s - 16 airframes - will go to Algeria. "We are set to fly the first Algerian Yak-130 by the end of 2008 and roll out six by that time," says NPK Irkut president Oleg Demchenko.

Algeria's Yak-130As will have a similar specification to those of the Russian air force, but feature modified weapons aiming and mission management systems. Algeria also added a requirement for the Yak-130A to perform coastal patrol and over-sea missions.

L'industriel Eurocopter avait pratiquement conclu la vente de huit hélicoptères à la marine algérienne, dont quatre Caracal - pour la mission recherche et sauvetage en mer - et quatre Panther pour la lutte anti-navires. Le tout pour 250 millions d'euros. Fin 2006, les Algériens décident d'annuler le contrat et de lancer les discussions avec d'autres industriels. L'hélicoptériste italo-britannique AgustaWestland a récemment signé avec les généraux algériens un contrat portant sur la livraison de dix hélicoptères : six EH101 Merlin et quatre Lynx Mk 300. Pour 575 millions d'euros. Une facture plus que doublée pour des appareils effectuant sensiblement les mêmes missions... Curieux.

Italian newspapers are reporting that the Algerian Government has ordered Super Lynx and Merlin helicopters from AgustaWestland.
The helicopter manufacturer will not comment on the long-rumoured order, but RotorHUB understands it will cover four Super Lynx Mk 300s and six AW101 Merlins, worth around 400 million euros to be used on transport tasks and search and rescue.
A previous order for eight helicopters, worth 250 million euros was reportedly cancelled.

The order appears to be part of a large-scale transformation of the Algerian armed forces. Previously the government chose Russian-built equipment for its armed forces but is now ordering a mix of equipment. Orders have also been placed for CN295 transport aircraft and for new MiG and Sukhoi-built fighter aircraft.
Deliveries of the helicopters will begin by 2009, and there are reports of interest in follow-up orders

la classe importe nullement dans l'enfer de l'action

La france a proposé 12 Caracal a 300 Millions au Maroc et le Merlin et Lynx ne sont pas comparable au Caracal ou Panthere proposé a l'Algerie point de vue technologique donc 400 Millions c'est le prix

espérons juste qu'il valent le coup en tout cas

the Algerian chief of staff expressed the hope that the visit would benefit the two sides which came in the context of the continued enhancement of military cooperation between the two countries adding it will provide an opportunity for talks on matters of mutual concern, He described the military exercise as a good step

Exacte même le premier vol sera effectué par des russe en suite les avions seront véritablement Algérien
Les russes assurent toute l'opération transport montage maintenance jusqu'a la livraison complète c'est ce qu'il y a écrit dans le air&cosmos comme pour la Malaisie
