The new K4386 «Typhoon-VDV» light airborne armoured vehicle was spotted around Naberezhnye Chelny in Russia.

The K4386 «Typhoon-VDV» is a is an air transportable, protected, high mobility multi-purpose armoured vehicle. It was designed by JSC “Plant of special vehicles” and Kamaz for Russian paratroopers.

The vehicle uses an all-new solid-body hull, revised frontal section, and support for a Remote Weapon Station (RWS) fitted to the hull roof. Interestingly, the vehicle developed a group of students from universities of Tatarstan, they are also involved in the assembly of the first prototype.


In addition, the Airborne Troops may order improved version of Tigr armoured infantry vehicle, following modifications to meet the demands of the airborne.

Website of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation unveils for the first time «Typhoon» multi-functional mine-resistant MRAP vehicle with the new remote controlled turret.

The new vehicle was spotted during training members of the international competition of engineering troops «Open water» in Murom.

The «Typhoon» is a mine-resistant armored wheeled vehicle designed and manufactured by KAMAZ. The new generation 6×6 armored vehicle can be deployed in reconnaissance, surveillance, command and staff, engineer reconnaissance, medical evacuation, nuclear, biological and chemical (NBC) reconnaissance and surveillance, fire support, special attack and armed escort missions.

The «Typhoon» MRAP can also be used to convoy other vehicles for combat missions and to transport soldiers, medical units and other equipment. It offers increased protection for troops in high threat environments.

The new armored vehicle has single remote control turret designed by JSC “NPO Electromashina”. On the remote control turret can be mounted machine guns caliber PKT 7,62x54R with increased ammunition and 12.7mm NSVT or «Kord», as well as a grenade launcher AGS-30. Module weight, depending on the weapon and ammunition, could reach 150-170 kg.

Practical stage of the “Open water” All-army contest will be held under the leadership of the Chief of Engineer Troops Lieutenant General Yuri Stavitsky in Murom on July 14-18. Engineer units of Russia, China and Belarus will also participate in the international stage of the “Open water-2016” contest.

The adaptive training courses of ground target strike of the Aviadarts international contest was held in Russia on Aug 2, local time.

The contest is part of the International Army Games 2016, and over 50 aircraft in 15 models from total of 48 flight crews from China, Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus participated in the live-fire training.

This is so far the biggest training event in terms of number of aircraft, aircraft models and scale of this year’s Aviadarts contest.

The adaptive live-fire training is divided into four groups of fighters, bombers, long-range aviation and helicopters. All teams are required to get familiar with the airport, airspace, targets in the shooting range and other competition environment, and to verify flight equipment and understand flight procedures

Les trois premières frégates du projet 11356, flambant neuves, rejoindront la flotte russe de la mer Noire d’ici fin 2016.

"L'automne prochain, un deuxième navire du projet l'Admiral Essen, un bâtiment produit en série qui a déjà passé tous les tests prévus, effectuera son transfert définitif de la flotte de la Baltique à celle de la mer Noire. D'ici fin 2016, nous nous attendons à ce que le troisième navire de la série, l'Admiral Makarov, accoste lui aussi sur les quais de Sébastopol. En tout cas, la dynamique de ses tests et leurs résultats nous permettent de l'affirmer", a déclaré Alexandre Vitko, commandant de la flotte de la mer Noire.

Il a également rappelé qu'en 2016, la principale frégate du projet 11356, l'Admiral Grigorovitch, avait déjà rejoint Sébastopol.

D'après le ministère russe de la Défense, il était initialement prévu que six nouvelles frégates du projet 11356 rejoignent les rangs de la marine russe d'ici 2020. Cependant, le refus de l'Ukraine de livrer à la Russie des moteurs à turbine à gaz a légèrement retardé la construction de la deuxième série des navires en question.

La frégate Admiral Essen du projet 11356, qui fait partie de la Flotte de la mer Noire, a été mise à l'eau le 7 novembre 2014.

La frégate Admiral Grigorovitch du projet 11356 est la frégate principale de la Flotte de la mer Noire, elle a été mise à l'eau le 14 mars 2014.

La frégate Admiral Makarov du projet 11356, et les trois frégates Admiral Boutakov, Admiral Istomine et Admiral Kornilov qui n'ont pas encore été mises à l'eau, sont également destinées à la Flotte de la mer Noire.

A rotation of Russian Armed Forces is taking place at the administrative border between the occupied Crimea and the Kherson region. A large number of troops and armored vehicles was spotted in the area and the cities of Armyansk Dzhankoy.

Earlier, it was reported that on the administrative border with the Crimea, border guards from the Ukrainian Kherson and Berdyansk units detected six Russian Mi-8 helicopters flying over the territory of the peninsula.

A new administrative border has been established between mainland Ukraine and the peninsula after the annexation of the Crimea by Russia in early 2014.

As was previously reported, Russia is preparing for a large-scale war and is moving troops to the Ukrainian border.

Naval shipbuilding is customarily blamed when any part of Russia's state defence order goes unfulfilled. Russian Sukhoi Su-34 'Fullback' strike aircraft will soon begin operating with a new electronic-intelligence (ELINT) system, the Russian Ministry of Defence told state media.

The large "multifunctional" UKR-RT pod is carried on the centreline of the Su-34. Although known to have been in development since the late 2000s, the announcement revealed that the payload of the pod is based on the M-410 ELINT system used on Russia's Tu-214R ELINT aircraft.

Manufactured by subsidiaries of the defence conglomerate Almaz-Antey, the system is currently undergoing final tests before going into service, according to reports in Izvestia and elsewhere.

It will reportedly enable aircrews to detect enemy headquarters, communications nodes, radars and UAV guidance locations, and enable the simultaneous conduct of both airstrikes and reconnaissance in real time.

The navalised variant of the the Kamov Ka-52 Alligator (Hokum-B) attack/reconnaissance helicopter - the Ka-52K Katran - will be equipped with a compact active electronically scanned array (AESA) radar from Russian defense contractor Radio-Electronic Technologies (KRET), a company spokesperson told IHS Jane's .

KRET claims that its AESA radar will be able to operate in the millimetric wavelength for effective ground target acquisition as well as the centimetric spectrum to enable large naval targets to be detected at a range of 180 km.

The radar is also capable of detecting low-altitude aerial targets such as cruise missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), providing data to cue onboard electro-optical devices and corresponding weapons to these targets.

Flight safety is enhanced with ground moving target indication and tracking modes, which assists the crew in coping with low visibility conditions such as fog, dust and night-time operations. The radar also detects ground obstacles including transmission towers and power lines.

The Ka-52K helicopter - developed to sink amphibious landing ships as well as the transports of enemy strike groups and convoys with its ability to employ anti-ship cruise missiles such as the high-speed Kh-31AD - was originally slated for deployment aboard the two French-built Mistral-class amphibious command ships originally destined for the Russian Navy.

However, delivery of the ships to Russia had subsequently been cancelled by France due to the former's annexation of Crimea.

There are now plans to add the helicopters already constructed to the air wing of the Project 11435 Admiral Kuznetsov aircraft carrier.

Int'l Army Games 2016 to Reinforce Moscow-Tehran Relations - Iranian General

The military commander of the Iranian delegation said he expected the Army Games to boost Moscow-Tehran ties.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The 2016 International Army Games (IAG) will serve to strengthen relations with Russia and facilitate the exchange of experience between the countries' troops, the military commander of the Iranian delegation to the Elbrus Ring competition, Gen. Nuzar Nemati, said on Monday.

"We expect that this competition will strengthen relations between Russia and Iran, and the exchange of experience will continue," Nemati told reporters.

Russia, China, Iran and Kazakhstan are taking part in the 10-day Elbrus Ring contest, which started on August 1. The competition consists of 14 special tasks, including climbing the 18,510-foot high Elbrus Mountain.

The Russian team is tipped to win the competition, 'however, the level of mountain training of all the teams participating in the contest is at a very high professional level," Nemati added.
After 12 of the special tasks, the Iranian team is in fourth place, while the Russian team is in the lead, followed by the Chinese and Kazakh teams.

The international stage of the contest will wrap up on August 11.

Russia is currently hosting the IAG, which started on July 30. The event features competitions in 23 disciplines. A total of 121 teams from 19 countries from across the world are taking part in the IAG which are being monitored by observers from 11 countries.

BELGRADE (Sputnik) — Serbia is getting ready for two upcoming joint military drills with Russia and Belarus: Slavic Brotherhood and Bars, a spokesperson for the Serbian Defense Ministry said Monday.
"Slavic Brotherhood-2016 drills will take place on the Serbian territory between September and October 2016. The drills will be held by three parties with the participation of representatives of Russian, Belarus and Serbian armed forces," the spokesperson told RIA Novosti.

The parties will agree on the exercise's details, including the date, the number of the participants and venue, at a conference in late August.

"Bars-2016 drills will be held on Serbian territory and in airspace in October 2016. The exact time will depend on weather conditions. MiG-29 jet fighters and new Mi-17 helicopters, which have just been bought by the Serbian Armed Forces from Russia, will be primarily used during the exercise," the spokesperson said.

In September 2015, paratroopers from Russia, Belarus and Serbia took part in the Slavic Brotherhood drills in Russia. Russia also held Bars-2015.

A new Russian K7850 (also named KAMAZ-7850 «Platform-O» ) 16×16 special wheeled platform for missile systems broke down during a series of ground tests. The new chassis for missile systems was spotted when it lost the motor-wheel.

The K7850 16×16 special wheeled platform with a lifting capacity of 85 t developed by JSC “Plant of special vehicles” (a subsidiary of the Rostec state corporation).

It should be noted that K7850 are supposed to be used as the mobile ICBM systems` new chassis. There is a plan to integrate them with RS-24 Yars (SS-27 Mod 2) mobile ICBM launchers.

KAMAZ to showcase a new series of military chassis for missile system

In accordance with the instructions of the Ministry of Defense of Russia JSC “Plant of special vehicles” (then composed of “KAMAZ”) in 2010, is working on the research project “Platform” and the ROC “Platform-O” to create a “highly mobile modular platform” for various purposes three types, designed to replace the Russian Armed Forces wheeled platforms Minsk wheel Tractor Plant (MZKT).

The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) prevented terrorist acts in Crimea plotted by Ukraine's Main Intelligence Directorate.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB) said Wednesday that it had prevented terrorist attacks in Crimea prepared by the Ukrainian Defense Ministry's intelligence services.

"The Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation prevented terrorist acts in the Republic of Crimea, prepared by the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense's Main Intelligence Directorate," the FSB said in a statement.

According to the security service, the attacks were set to target the peninsula's key infrastructure and facilities.

"The goal of the sabotage and terrorist acts was to destabilize the sociopolitical situation before and during the election of federal and regional authorities," the FSB said.

One FSB officer was killed during the counterterrorist operation.

“As a result of search operations on the night from August 6 to August 7, 2016, a group of saboteurs was discovered near the town of Armyansk in the Crimean Republic. An FSB officer died as a result of a firefight during the arrest,” the FSB said.

Twenty improvised explosive devices, ammunition and other weapons at the disposal of the Ukrainian Armed Forces have been uncovered at the site, the service added.

FSB Stamps Out Ukrainian Defense Ministry's Spy Ring in Crimea

The FSB said that it had eliminated a spy ring organized by the Ukrainian Defense Ministry in Crimea, detaining both Russian and Ukrainian nationals involved in preparing terrorist attacks on the peninsula.

"An agent network [created] by the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense's Main Intelligence Directorate has been eliminated. Ukrainian and Russian nationals involved in the preparation of terrorist acts have been detained and are confessing," the FSB said in a statement.

The Federal Security Service also said it had prevented two overnight attempts by Kiev-organized terrorist groups from entering Crimea.

Russia’s border with Ukraine has been reinforced and security at places of mass gathering and key infrastructure facilities in Crimea has been stepped up.

“Additional security measures in public and recreational places have been adopted, including the protection of critical infrastructure. The boundary regime on the border with Ukraine has been strengthened,” the FSB said.

A criminal investigation has been opened into an attempted act of terrorism filed late last week and claimed to be directed by the Ukrainian Defense Ministry's intelligence service, it added.

The Federal Security Service also said it had prevented two overnight attempts by Kiev-organized terrorist groups from entering Crimea on the night of Monday, August 8, in which one Russian soldier was killed.

"The break-through attempts were covered with massive shelling from the neighboring state and the Ukrainian Armed Forces' armored vehicles. A Russian Defense Ministry serviceman was killed in the firefight," the FSB said.

Russian state media revealed video of a series tests by new «Prohod-T» robot minesweeper vehicle.

The new all-terrain «Prohod-T» robot minesweeper vehicle developed by Ural Transport Machine Building Design Bureau resembles an ordinary main battle tank equipped with a mine roller that can clear the way ahead of convoys without a human driver.

The capacity of the robot can neutralize mines equipped with radio detonators on the surface, snow and soil. In automatic mode the «Prohod-T», follows a predefined route.

The «Prohod-T» is based on the BMR-3M mine clearing vehicle ( T-90 chassis). The turret has been removed and new all-welded superstructure has been fitted. This mine clearing vehicle is fitted with Explosive Reactive Armor (ERA) blocks. The superstructure provides protection against small arms fire, artillery shell splinters and mine fragment debris. Belly armor has been improved and is of composite construction. It withstands and anti-tank mine blast anywhere under the hull.

La Russie envisage de transformer en base aérienne permanente son aérodrome militaire de Hmeimim, dans le nord-ouest de la Syrie, qui abrite ses avions utilisés pour des frappes contre les jihadistes, a annoncé jeudi un sénateur russe.

"Une fois son statut légal défini, Hmeimim deviendra une base militaire russe. Des infrastructures appropriées y seront construites et nos militaires y vivront dans des conditions dignes", a déclaré Franz Klintsevitch, vice-président du comité pour la Défense au sein du Conseil de la Fédération (chambre haute), dans un entretien au quotidien Izvestia.

Le sénateur n'a pas exclu que le nombre d'avions militaires russes basés en Syrie puisse ensuite augmenter, mais il a assuré que "ni armes nucléaires ni chasseurs lourds n'y seraient déployés à titre permanent".

La Russie, qui dispose déjà d'une base navale à Tartous (nord-ouest de la Syrie), intervient depuis le 30 septembre 2015 sur le territoire syrien par le biais de son aviation contre des "cibles terroristes" pour soutenir son allié, le président Bachar el-Assad.

Après plusieurs mois de frappes aériennes, le président Vladimir Poutine a annoncé en mars le retrait de la majeure partie du contingent russe de Syrie, mais la Russie y garde toutefois des installations et des hommes pour surveiller le respect du cessez-le-feu, entré en vigueur le 27 février mais très peu respecté, et pour continuer à frapper des "objectifs terroristes".
"Le soutien en matière de renseignement et de feu de la part des forces aériennes russes permet à l'armée syrienne de remplir ses tâches avec succès", a souligné M. Klintsevitch.
"La Russie comprend que si on ne prend pas de mesures, une menace terroriste d'ampleur atteindra aussi ses frontières", a-t-il ajouté.

Cette semaine, Vladimir Poutine a soumis à la Douma d'Etat (chambre basse) un projet de loi sur la ratification d'un accord avec le régime syrien prévoyant le déploiement d'un groupe d'aviation russe à Hmeimim pour une "durée indéterminée".

L'accord qui a pour but de "consolider les efforts visant à résister aux menaces terroristes" a été signé à Damas le 26 août 2015, selon le projet de loi publié sur le site de la Douma.

La flotte russe a commencé lundi des exercices militaires en mer Méditerranée avec des navires équipés de missiles à longue-portée et destinés à la "lutte antiterroriste", a annoncé le ministère russe de la Défense.

"Un groupe de navires a commencé des exercices tactiques dans l'est de la mer Méditerranée. Ces manoeuvres sont destinées à tester la capacité des forces navales à résoudre les crises de nature terroriste", a indiqué le ministère dans un communiqué.

Deux corvettes de classe Buyan, un des modèles de navire les plus récents de la flotte russe, prennent part à ces manoeuvres aux côtés de navires déjà stationnés de manière permanente dans la région, selon le ministère. Les navires sont en outre équipés de systèmes de missiles à longue-portée Kalibr, déjà utilisés pour frapper les positions de groupes jihadistes en Syrie en 2015.
