Panus Assembly’s newest R600 8x8 Infantry Fighting Vehicle (IFV) prototype was certificated by the Armament Standard Committee of the Ministry of Defense of Thailand on 25 March 2021, Defense Studies reports. The R600 8x8 is sold at a unit price of 60 million baht (USD 1,969,800). If equipped with Turkey's Aselsan Nefer 30mm remote-controlled turret, the price climbs to 120 million baht (USD 3,939,540).

As reported by Army Recognition on November 20 during Defense and Security Thailand 2019 exhibition, Somsak Nonpoe, Government Project Director, told the particularly interesting story of the 4x4 HMV-20 vehicle that led to the development of the R600. Initially, Panus delivered two units of an MRAP vehicle to a Marine unit in the south of the country. There, the company representative saw two wrecks of old Cadillac Gage V-150 Commando vehicles blown up on mines. Instead of seeing them scrapped, Panus obtained to completely restore them in a combat condition. Using the experience gathered from this work, the company designed its own vehicle - the AFV-420 - that benefited from many improvements, the most noticeable one being a great four-wheel steering system enabling the vehicle to maneuver through deeply forested areas and narrow village streets. This is amazingly the only armored vehicle of its kind that benefits from this crucial ability.
After the AFV-420 was tested, the Marine Corps asked Panus if they could develop an 8x8 armored vehicle, also benefiting from the all-wheel steering system and made amphibious, the propulsion being carried on by water jets. And Panus made it. So, designed and built in Thailand for the Thai Marine Corps, the R600 prototype was tested for the first time at the vehicle testing ground of the Royal Thai Marine Corps, Royal Thai Navy at Royal Thai Army's Vehicle Test Range in Kanchanaburi province on 28 August 2019. Only after these basic tests were the internal equipment and weapon systems installed in the vehicle. The 30mm turret is manufactured by the Turkish company ASELSAN. The hull is made in China. Panus doesn't want to fight its way among the biggest defense companies but is proud to state that it can fulfill any specific need expressed by a customer.
The R 600 weighs 25 tons, is 8.4 meters long, 3.2 meters wide, 2.75 meters high. The ground clearance is 500 mm. The Cummins engine develops 600 hp and is coupled to an Allison 4500 6-speed automatic transmission. The power to ratio rate is 24hp/t. The 8-wheel steering vehicle can drive either in 8x4 or 8x8.
It can overcome a 60cm vertical obstacle, a 40% slope, and a 60% grade ramp. The top speed on-road is 110 km/h, 14 km/h on water. The operating range is 800 km. The IFV can accommodate 2 crew members and 20 people. The protection level is Stanag 4569 LV.2, or Lv.3 in option.
Panus tested its newest product R600 8x8 wheeled Infantry Fighting Vehicle (IFV) prototype at the Royal Thai Marine Corps, Royal Thai Navy at Royal Thai Army's Vehicle Test Range in Kanchanaburi province from 28 August 2019 onwards.

An image published in Thai online social media on May 28, 2021 shows an amphibious light tank or Amphibious Assault Vessel (AAV) model Norinco VN16, total 3 vehicles were shipped by cargo ship from China to Thailand.
The vehicle has a camouflage pattern of the Royal Thai Marine Corps. of the Royal Thai Navy which is probably the port of Sattahip Naval Base. That is often a point for sending military vehicles coming by boat from abroad to Thailand
The current series of images contains two images, most likely taken with a mobile phone at dusk and cloudy. One photo shows three VN16 amphibious light tanks being lifted from a cargo ship which contains pictures of port workers and Thai Marines officers in Thai Navy camouflage field uniforms.
Another picture will see the car#1 vehicle labeled with English text stating that the product is Amphibious Armored Assault Vehicle VN16 dimensions, weight and the destination of delivery is Thai Marines, Sattahip District, Chon Buri Province, Thailand, with a short video showing the VN16 moving from the pier to the road.
Last September 2020 on website, the information center for procurement and mid-price, the Royal Thai Navy has announced a project to purchase 3 phase 1 amphibious assault vehicles for 398,143,400 baht ($ 12,579,570.05) from NORINCO, People's Republic of China.
Norinco China delivered three VN16 amphibious assault vehicles to the Royal Thai Marine Corps within just 8 months since the announcement of selecting a supply model, this is very fast.
It is understood that three additional second phase amphibious assault vehicles will be purchased in the fiscal year 2022. From the total demand for 6 vehicles, if the project is not cut from the defense budget of 2022 due to the Covid-19 epidemic, Thailand has been facing for many years.
Which the Marine Corps Royal Thai Navy there has been a need for a new tank to replace five Type 69-II main tanks long after it was unable to supply 15 LT-105 ASCOD light tanks from Spain in the 1990s due to defense budget cuts due to the economic crisis in 1997.
The amphibious assault vehicle VN16 will be the new main force of Marine Tank Company, Marine Armored Amphibian Vehicle Battalion, Marine Division, RTMC. By the dissolution of the Marine Assault Amphibian Battalion and Marine Tank Battalion (You can see that the VN16 has the same camouflage paint as the AAV7A1 amphibious vehicle), according to the plan to restructure the force of the new Marine Corps Command.
The VN16 is an export version of an amphibious light tank ZTD-05 stationed in the People's Liberation Army Navy Marine Corps (PLAMC) designed and manufactured by NORINCO, a Chinese defence industry enterprise.
The Royal Thai Marine Corps is the second export customer for the VN16, following the Venezuelan Bolivarian Marine Corps, supplied with the VN18 belt amphibious infantry combat vehicle, the export version of the ZBD-05 amphibious infantry combat vehicle that the Chinese Marines have.

Royal Thai Army Procured 3 Kodiak 100 for 299 Million Baht
30 Agustus 2021
Kodiak 100 aircraft (photo : Angkasa Review)
The Royal Thai Army has a project to procure light general-purpose aircraft, equipped with standard equipment with repair parts and ground equipment of 3 units according to the project of procuring general-purpose aircraft to replace 2 types of U-17B type general purpose aircraft, totaling 4 units, including aircraft hangar and aircraft hangar and 2 helicopters and a pilot and aircraft mechanic training course. The responsible person is Department of Transportation, Royal Thai Army, budget 299.938 million baht, with the median price derived from a single operator, Forth Corporation Public Company Limited.
According to the data, FORTH is the representative of the Kodiak 100 aircraft in Southeast Asia. Which makes it quite certain that the aircraft that the Army will procure will be the Kodiak 100, with an average price of about 99 million baht per aircraft.
The Kodiak 100 is a single-wing propeller-engine passenger plane. Travel speed 183 knots, flying range 2,096 kilometers, use 1 pilot and can transport 9 passengers. In Thailand, there are 2 Kodiak 100 privately owned boats and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment 1 unit.
Cessna U-17B Skywagon of the Royal Thai Army (photo : Wings Aviation)
The Royal Thai Army has already had two general-purpose aircraft procurement projects, which are two C208Bs from Cessna and a PC-12NGX from Pilatus 1 and 3 Kodiak 100s, a total of 4.
It is unclear what the Army plans for the C208B and Kodiak 100, as both are of the same class. have similar performance and can be used differently which, if comparing the advantages and disadvantages, including the use There should be no need for two similar aircraft to be procured. (Compare as simple as procuring a Camry and Accord to work together). The procurement of a small number of different aircraft made it difficult for both pilots and mechanics to train. Spare parts stocking, maintenance, and operation are often more costly than procuring a single aircraft.
The Army has a number of U-17Bs in service. Therefore, it is expected that more aircraft will be procured in the future. Which must see if there will be another aircraft model added or not or how will the Army plan to deploy all three light aircraft that are similarly procured and that differ in performance and functionality?

The Royal Thai Navy operates a mixed fleet of UAVs, but it is adding more Austrian-built Camcopters to the mix.
The Royal Thai Navy (RTN) is preparing to procure two additional Camcopter S-100 UAVs from Schiebel to enhance its reconnaissance capability and patrol sea areas in Thailand’s south.
The House of Representatives agreed to spend a total budget of THB570 million ($18.38 million) for these systems in August.
The RTN procured its first two Camcopter S-100s for THB600 million ($19.4 million) in 2020. Their main operating station is Pak Phanang District in Nakhon Si Thammarat Province, where they operate with RTN frigates.
Naval Transportation Department, Royal Thai Navy announced to acquire 2 of Eight-wheel drive (8x8) Amphibious Armored Personnel Carrier (APC) and 6 of Four-wheel drive (4x4) Armored Multi-Purpose Vehicles (MPV).
The Thailand's company competitors include R600 8x8 by Panus Assembly Co.,Ltd. and Black Widow Spider (BWS) 8x8 by Preecha Thavorn Industry for Amphibious APC 8x8 and First Win II by Chaiseri metal & rubber Co. Ltd. for MPV 4x4.
According to the Department of Naval Transport The Royal Thai Navy has announced a project to purchase 2 wheeled armored vehicles (8x8) and a project to purchase 6 armored vehicles 4x4 multipurpose vehicles (type 4x4) on 30 August 2021.
Chaiseri First Win II 4x4 armored vehicle (photo : Bangkok Post)
Based on TOR, it is possible that Panus Assembly Thai's R600A 8x8 amphibious armored vehicle will be the winner in the 8x8 wheeled armored vehicle project when compared to Preecha Thavorn Industry's Black Widow Spider 8x8 armored vehicle.
And for the 4x4 multipurpose armored vehicle project, it should be the purchase of the First Win II 4x4 wheeled armored vehicle of Chaiseri Thai company in addition to the same project in 2020, all of which support the Thai internal security industry of the Thai Navy.
