"Each vessel will be powered by two MAN 16V175D-MM, IMO Tier II engines, each rated at 2,960 kWm at 1,900 rpm," said the company in a statement, adding that the vessels, which are being built by Marsun Shipyard in Thailand, are set to be delivered to the RTN by August.
Although not specified by the company, the engines are meant to power the latest two T 994-class coastal patrol vessels ordered for the RTN. A keel-laying ceremony for the vessels was held on 14 November 2019 at Marsun's facilities in Thailand's Samut Prakan district.
As Jane's previously reported, these two vessels, which will be the fourth and fifth of the class, will be in service as T 997 and T 998 once commissioned.

- Three Sikorsky UH-60A Black Hawk Arrived in Thailand
02 Maret 2020
3 UH-60A Black Hawk (Refurbished) helicopters arrived in Thailand (all photos : AAG)
Royal Thai Army's new 3 Sikorsky UH-60A Black Hawk (Refurbished) utillity helicopters was spotted at port and during transport on road in Thailand in February 2020.
According to the Thai Army, there are 6 Boeing CH-47D Chinook helicopter wreck exchange programs, including repair parts, maintenance tools, with ground equipment that has been stationed in the General Support Aviation Division (now the 41st Aviation Battalion), the Thai Army Aviation Center.
With the Sikorsky UH-60A Black Hawk (Refurbished) helicopters, which have been upgraded with the standard equipment installed in accordance with the US Army standards.
Most recently, images have been found in February 2020 states that all 3 units UH-60A have been transported to Thailand from the port and transported by low-load trailer trucks at night. Understand that there should be an examination by the Royal Thai Air Force.
Currently, Flight 9 at the Department of Aviation, Army Aviation Center has 9 Sikorsky UH-60L and 3 Sikorsky UH-60M (3 new machines from the factory), when combined with the newly provided UH-60A, the number will increase to 15.
Although the newly assigned 3 UH-60A (Refurbished) the device will be a machine that has been used in the US military before, but has been restored to be modern and continue to use can last for many years. It is worthwhile to increase the number of general-purpose helicopters for the AAC.
In this regard, the 41st Aviation Battalion have 7 Mil Mi-17V5 general-purpose helicopters and being procured 1 additional unit, total 8 units, with a total procurement demand 12 machines to replace the CH-47D, although the loading capacity is not the same.

- Second Batch of Stryker was Postponed
24 April 2020

Thai Army Defers Carrier Deal
The army will delay its 4.5 billion baht procurement of a second batch of 50 US-made Stryker armoured infantry carriers to the next fiscal year as part of the Defence Ministry’s 18 billion baht budget cut to help the Covid-19 outbreak fight.
The move was confirmed by army chief Apirat Kongsompong on Wednesday. Gen Apirat was responding to media reports citing an announcement by the army’s Ordnance Department regarding the planned purchase of 50 armoured vehicles.
It sparked criticism over the army’s spending at a time when the country is struggling to cope with the economic impact of the virus outbreak.
On Monday, the army’s Ordnance Department published a detailed plan to buy 50 armoured vehicles with weapons and a technical service package by means of foreign military sales (FMS) at a cost of 4.5 billion baht.
The Thai-US FMS procurement scheme, in which the Thai army will receive about 130 armoured vehicles, was endorsed and set to be approved by parliament this fiscal year.
However, the army has decided to defer the scheme to thenext fiscal year and give the money to the government to help it fight Covid-19 first, said Gen Apirat.
Under this contract, the US Army would give about 80 armoured vehicles to the Thai army for free, he said.
The Defence Ministry has slashed its budget for fiscal year 2020 by 18 billion baht, more than half from the army’s budget, and returned the funds to the government, army spokesman Col Winthai Suvaree said.
The budget cut has resulted in several weapons and military hardware procurement projects being shelved and the tie-over budget this fiscal year being trimmed, said Col Winthai.
Earlier last year, the army struck a deal to buy the first batch of 37 “refurbished” US-made Strykers for 80 million baht each (2.9 billion baht in total), but under the contract, the US Army would give 23 more Strykers to the Thai army for free, bringing the number to 60 in total, said an army source.

These Strykers came in mixed models — namely M1126, M1127 and M1129 — and with a training package and maintenance to be carried out in Thailand, plus Stryker training for Thai soldiers in the US, said the source.
The 18 billion baht budget cut has resulted in four major projects, including the planned purchases of tanks, artillery and military radar systems, as well as 26 other smaller projects being delayed, said Col Winthai.
Those projects in which contracts have already been signed now face a 50% budget cut, he said.
The 900 million baht tied-over budget originally to be paid out this fiscal year in connection with the purchase of the first batch of Strykers, for instance, was halved to 450 million baht, Col Winthai said.
Reports about the speculated new purchase of Strykers contained errors, which possibly stemmed from incomplete information obtained by some media outlets, he said.
This procurement project was secured thanks to the good relations between the Thai and US armies, he said.
Most recently, the US Army provided for free various types of bullets worth US$600,000 million and flown Thai students left stranded in the US back home last week free of charge as well, he said.
Gen Apirat admitted the budget cut would inevitably affect the army’s human resources development.
But the army would try its best to make the best out the limited resources, deputy army spokeswoman Col Sirichan Ngathong said on Wednesday.
Gen Apirat also warned those Facebook pages publishing false information about the army’s affairs to correct their reports because the army doesn’t want to take legal action at the moment, said Col Sirichan.
Opposition Pheu Thai Party spokesman Anusorn Iamsa-ard, asked why the army has to continue buying weapons, especially while the country was hurting from the Covid-19 outbreak.
He urged the army to prioritise its procurement projects and put the money to better use.

According to the Naval Ordnance Department The Thai Navy plans to purchase 5.56mm AK-201 Russian rifles, total 500 units for 45,000,000 baht ($ 1,387,240.65) or per barrel 900,000 baht ($ 2,774.65) for the Eastern Marines Scout Task Force
It can be seen that when compared with the rifle from the west, such as Colt M16A4 in the amount of 450 units, costing 23,4006,986.16 baht ($ 721,769.54) for the Royal Thai Naval Academy. The price of the M16A4 long rifle, the US average price per barrel 52,015.548 baht ($ 1,604.48) shows the fact that Russian guns procured through Rosoboronexport Russian arms export agencies and Thai distribution companies are more expensive contrary to the belief that Russian weapons are cheap.

From the discussion reserved the amendments of the Act The 2021 budget for Agenda 2 contains data from discussion showing the procurement of 10 more Stryker wheeled vehicles from the United States in fiscal year 2021 worth 900 million baht.
The procurement of Stryker vehicles was carried out in fiscal year 2019 with 70 vehicles (47 supplied and the United States assisted by giving 23 more free), totaling 3,720 million baht. In FY2020, another 50 Stryker vehicles worth 4,515 million baht, a project that has not been postponed or budgeted due to COVID-19 and continued procurement in this fiscal year
Thus, procurement of 10 more Stryker vehicles in the fiscal year around 2021 will provide the Army with a total of 130 Stryker vehicles, or approximately 3 Panzer Infantry Battalions, based on the Stryker Brigade Combat Team (SBCT) rating. So, if the Army wants to form a complete Stryker Brigade at the actual rate, at least 192 additional Strykers will be required. It will complete the arrangement of the Stryker Brigade Combat Team rate of approximately 17,280 million baht, calculated from the Stryker price of 90 million baht per vehicle.
