Les chantiers navals russes livreront 17 navires en 2011
En 2011, le consortium russe de construction navale OSK livrera à la Marine du pays et aux clients étrangers 17 bâtiments de guerre, dont deux sous-marins nucléaires lanceurs d'engins (SNLE), a annoncé mercredi aux journalistes le PDG du consortium, Roman Trotsenko.
"Cette année, nous projetons de livrer 17 bâtiments de guerre aux forces navales russes et aux clients étrangers, y compris des SNLE et des bâtiments de surface", a-t-il déclaré lors du Salon international de la défense maritime (IMDS-2011) qui se déroule du 29 juin au 2 juillet à Saint-Pétersbourg.
M. Trotsenko a précisé que la Marine russe recevrait deux sous-marins nucléaires, mais a refusé de citer leurs noms.
Une source bien informée au sein du complexe militaro-industriel a confié à RIA Novosti qu'il s'agissait du sous-marin stratégique Iouri Dolgorouki (utilisé mardi pour un test du missile balistique intercontinental Boulava) et du sous-marin nucléaire à fonctions multiples Severodvinsk.
Selon M. Trotsenko, l'OSK construit actuellement 54 navires, dont 40 pour les forces navales russes et 14 pour des pays étrangers.

New Russian Tank to Have Remotely Controlled Gun
Russia’s future main battle tank (MBT) will be equipped with a remotely controlled gun, the Izvestia newspaper said on Monday citing a defense industry source.
The gun will be digitally controlled by a crewmember located in a separate compartment, which would be made from composite materials and protected by multi-layered armor. The crew compartment will be also isolated from the motor compartment to increase survivability on the battlefield.
The secret project, dubbed Armata, has been approved by the Russian Defense Ministry. It is being implemented by the tank manufacturer Uralvagonzavod in Russia’s Urals region.
Work from other projects, including Object 195 and Black Eagle, will be incorporated in Armata's design.
The prototype of Armata MBT is expected to be ready by 2013. The first deliveries to the Russian Armed Forces are scheduled for 2015.
Russian experts believe that the appearance of the remotely controlled gun would eventually lead to the development of a fully robotic tank which could be deployed as part of a spearhead in the offensive.

Russia’s Rosoboronexport will display a modernized version of its T-90S tank at the Defexpo India 2012 show. This will be the first global viewing of the new tank which is said to be a substantial improvement over the existing T-90S in terms of crew protection, fire control system, ride and handling and engine power, informed sources told defenseworld.net.
The new tank has been developed in response to user comments that the present T-90 is lacking in adequate crew protection and lacks shooting accuracy. Specifically, in the present tank, the ammunition is stored in close proximity to the crew which is put at great risk if the tank takes a direct hit. The protective system is composed of a fire retardant shell to provide some measure of protection to the crew from a fire hazard if the tank takes a direct hit from an enemy round.
Russia is also developing a new tank called Armata and it is still unclear if the upgraded T-90 is the same as the new tank or an interim development. Currently, T-90S tanks are being assembled in India under a licence manufacture agreement with Russia. India had ordered over 300 T-90S tanks in 2009 and the Indian –assembled tanks have been rechristened as “Bhishma”.
There have been reports that the Indian-made Arjun tanks has exhibited superior performance capabilities as compared to the T-90S Bhishma during trials in India. It remains to be seen if the upgraded T-90S will change this perception.

"Le matériel à destination militaire sera présenté par 15 sociétés faisant partie du complexe militaro-industriel, dont l'agence russe d'exportation d'armements "Rosoboronexport", le groupe Soukhoï, le groupe Bazalt, le groupe Missiles tactiques, entre autres", annonce le communiqué.
La Russie exposera ses avions de combat dont le chasseur polyvalent de génération 4++ Su-35, le chasseur polyvalent Su-30MK2, l'avion d'entrainement au combat Yak-130, ainsi que ses hélicoptères Mi-24 et Mi-35, les hélicoptères de combat Mi-28-NE, Ka-50 et Ka-52.
Plus de 400 sociétés en provenance de 26 pays prennent part au Salon, organisé par le ministère chilien de la Défense

"Le tir du lanceur et la mise en orbite du satellite se sont déroulés normalement. Le satellite s'est séparé du bloc d'accélération DM-2 dans les délais impartis", a indiqué le colonel, sans toutefois préciser la mission du satellite.
Il s'agit du quatrième satellite militaire mis en orbite par la Russie en 2012

Flying tank' premiere: Russia unveils new T90-MS in India
Russian arms producers have presented the most up-to-date exportable version of the T-90 main battle tank to potential buyers.
The presentation happened at the Defexpo India 2012 in New Delhi, where the producers of the T-90MS hope to find buyers for the armored fighting vehicle.
The upgraded tank has improved capabilities in all aspects, “including firepower, protection, mobility and command ability,” Andrey Terlikov, the chief designer of the T-90 at the Uralvagonzavod plant, said.
The T-90MS is the latest modification of the combat vehicle dubbed the “flying tank”. It has a new turret with the Kalina modernized targeting system, which is integrated with the squad commander’s control system. Also on board are an upgraded 2A46M-5 cannon and a new air defense machine gun.
The tank also has new version of the explosive reactive armor called Relict, as well as an improved gear shifter and better steering control. Its armor was modified to better withstand fire, though it is now slightly less resistant to the affects of a nuclear attack.
The tank is also equipped with an auxiliary diesel engine that is meant to be used during stops. It allows for better fuel efficiency and produces less heat than the main engine, making the vehicle less noticeable in the infra-red spectrum.
The T-90MS hit the domestic stage in September 2011, but the vehicle is yet to be taken to a foreign country.
The producer hopes that India would be interested in upgrading the T-90 tanks it already owns into MS versions. It gas also invited governments in Latin America and other regions to wow at its capabilities.

Russian Air Force commander Gen. Alexander Zelin has elaborated further about aircraft acquisition plans under the country’s Weapons Program 2011-2020. His comments addressed the Sukhoi series of combat aircraft, as well as airborne early warning (AEW) aircraft, airlifters and the Yak-130 jet trainer.
Zelin said that the air force will acquire about 60 Sukhoi PAKFA (T-50) fifth-generation fighters by 2020. “The T-50 is intended for air-superiority missions...and will be flown by first-class pilots only,” he said.
Zelin also said that the grand total of Sukhoi Su-30SM two-seat and Su-35 single-seat fighters to be acquired would be about 100. On March 22, Russian defense minister Anatoly Serdyukov and Irkut president Alexey Fedorov signed a contact for 30 Sukhoi Su-30SMs for delivery in 2013-2015. This is the domestic version of the Su-30MK already exported to Algeria, India and Malaysia. State acceptance trials are slated for next year. As for the Su-35, a total of 48 have been ordered so far.
Zelin said that the Russian air force will acquire a total of 140 Su-34s. To date, 124 have been placed under contract. The Su-34s will allow for a substantial increase in the national nuclear deterrent force, and also be used for launching long-range missiles at maritime, land and aerial targets, he added.
The commander also called for additional Yakovlev Yak-130 advanced jet trainers to be used for preparation of Su-34 and Su-35 fighter pilots. The airplane was also selected as a platform for development of a light strike aircraft.
The A-100 AWACS aircraft that was announced last year will include additional functions such as maritime target identification and the control of UAVs, Zelin said.
The Russian air force wants “not less than 300 airlifters in different payload capabilities,” Zelin said. The restart of Ruslan heavylifter production is still being pursued, specifically the more advanced An-124-300 version. In parallel, the air force will be getting the re-engined Il-76MD-90A, which will also be used for special missions and aerial refueling.
Regarding the long-delayed Antonov An-70 joint project with Ukraine, Zelin said, “We have eliminated the discrepancies taking place before.” Antonov will deliver to the Russian air force for evaluation an improved prototype now being assembled. If ever approved for production, Russian An-70s will be assembled in Voronezh, from kits produced at the Antonov plants in Kiev and Kharkov.
Zelin said the service has selected the An-140-100 as a temporary solution for a light tactical transport. The commander also confirmed plans to acquire 100 Multirole Transport Aircraft (MTAs), being jointly developed by Russia and India.

Un destroyer rattaché à la Flotte russe de la mer Noire effectue une mission en Méditerranée, a indiqué lundi un porte-parole de la marine, d'autres sources précisant qu'une escale était prévue dans un port syrien.
"Le destroyer Smetlivy sous le commandement du capitaine Viktor Skokov a quitté Sébastopol le week-end dernier et a pris la route des Détroits. L'équipage va remplir des missions en mer Méditerranée", a déclaré à l'agence Interfax le capitaine Viatcheslav Troukhatchev, sans donner plus de détails.
Une source militaro-diplomatique a cependant précisé à l'agence Ria Novosti que ce navire équipé de missiles et apte à la lutte anti-sous marine et à la défense aérienne ferait une escale dans le port syrien de Tartous, seule base navale dont la Russie dispose en mer Méditerranée.
"Une escale est prévue dans le port syrien de Tartous", a indiqué cette source.
"Cela va être une escale strictement technique, que font presque tous les navires et bâtiments de la flotte militaire russe qui effectuent des missions en mer Méditerranée", a ajouté un représentant de la Flotte russe de la mer Noire, cité par Interfax.
A la mi-mars, le ministère russe de la Défense avait indiqué qu'un navire de ravitaillement russe, l'Iman, avait fait escale dans le port de Tartous pour ravitailler des navires des flottes de la mer Noire et du Nord qui assurent la sécurité dans le golfe d'Aden contre les pirates.
En janvier, le porte-avion russe Admiral Kouznetsov avait aussi effectué une escale dans cette base navale dans le cadre d'une mission en Méditerranée et dans l'Atlantique, ce qui avait suscité des inquiétudes des observateurs, compte tenu de la tension dans la région.
La Russie, allié depuis l'époque soviétique de Damas, un important acheteur d'armements russes, a bloqué deux résolutions à l'ONU condamnant la répression d'un mouvement de contestation qui depuis un an a fait quelque 10.000 morts, selon l'Observatoire syrien des droits de l'Homme (OSDH).

Nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarine (SSBN) Verkhoturye on March 24 was withdrawn from covered slipway of JSC Zvezdochka Ship Repair Center. A solemn ceremony of bringing of strategic nuclear submarine took place at the shipyard for the occasion.
Repair of the hull, overboard systems, survivability systems, mechanisms and equipment of the steam unit and other systems was done at the submarine. Completion of work on restoration of technical readiness will be done afloat near the mooring line of the finishing embankment. The submarine will be handed over to the Navy in November of 2012.

Project 667BDRM Delfin nuclear-powered subs are basic assets of Russia’s maritime nuclear deterrence force. Their construction was started in 1981 at Sevmash shipyard. In total, the Russian Navy received seven submarines of the class between 1984 till 1990. Presently, Russian Navy operates six of them. Zvezdochka shipyard has repaired and modernized all of them from 1999 to 2012. Verkhoturye SSBN – lead sub of the class– was laid down at Sevmash shipyard in February 1981.

L'aviation embarquée russe va bien se moderniser. Le contrat portant sur l'acquisition de nouveaux avions de combat a été signé. En tout, la marine russe va acquérir 20 MiG-29K et 4 MiG-29 KUB, dont les livraisons sont prévues entre 2013 et 2015. Ces appareils polyvalents, capables de mener des missions de défense aérienne et d'assaut, seront mis en oeuvre à partir du porte-avions Kuznetsov. Mis en service en 1991, ce bâtiment n'emporte actuellement que des intercepteurs Su-33 Flanker. L'arrivée des MiG-29 offrira donc de nouvelles capacités offensives au groupe aéronaval russe. M&M

Les missiles sol-air S-400 Triumph de longue portée seront prochainement livrés à l'armée russe, a annoncé vendredi à Moscou le commandant des troupes balistiques russes Victor Goumenny.
"Le missile de longue portée S-400 est prêt, sa production a commencé. Ce missile sera prochainement livré aux régiments en service opérationnel", a indiqué le général Goumenny devant les journalistes.
Les essais du missile de longue portée sont toujours en cours. Ils ont permis de confirmer que les performances techniques du missile correspondaient à celles annoncées par ses concepteurs, selon le général.
A partir de 2012, les missiles S-400 seront déployés dans les régions frontalières et maritimes russes, a-t-il rappelé.
Les missiles de moyenne et longue portée S-400 Triumph (code OTAN SA-21 Growler) sont destinés à détruire les cibles aériennes de tous types (avions, missiles de croisière, drones, etc.) dans un rayon de 400 kilomètres et à une altitude de 30 km.
A présent, la Russie possède deux régiments de missiles Triumph déployés dans les districts d'Elektrostal et de Dmitrov, dans la région de Moscou. En mars dernier, le chef d'état-major de l'Armée de l'air Viktor Bondarev a annoncé que trois autres batteries de missiles S-400 Triumph seraient livrées à l'armée russe avant 2013, dont l'une sera envoyée à Nakhodka (Extrême-Orient), la deuxième dans la région de Moscou et la troisième à Voronej (sud-est de la Russie).

Russia air defence forces to receive S-300V system
Moscow: The Army air defence of the Land Forces of Russia will be additionally equipped this year with the advanced, fourth modification of the S-300V anti-aircraft missile system, spokesman for the Land Forces Colonel Sergei Vlasov told Itar-Tass on Thursday.
"Within the development of air defence weapons of the Land Forces this year it is planned to complete the modernisation of the C-300V system to the S-300V4 level," he said.
"The state contract on the supply of new anti-aircraft missiles of the S-300V4 systems has also been signed."
"The range of the heavy missiles' firing is over 300 kilometres," Vlasov said.
In late March, he recalled, tactical exercises of the Naro-Fominsk antiaircraft missile brigade were conducted at the Kapustin Yar ranged in the Astrakhan region.
During the weapons training exercise the S-300V upgraded anti-aircraft missile systems confirmed their high performance, hitting air targets.
The S-300V (Army), in contrast to the S-300 conventional medium-range missile system, was specially developed for RF Land Forces and its launcher is installed on tracked transporters.
A major difference of the S-300V from the "parallel" system is that it has not one but two types of anti-aircraft guided missiles.
One is used for hitting aerodynamic targets at ranges of up to 75 kilometres.
Another missile of the "ground- to-ground" class can hit ballistic targets, as well as all types of aircraft with speeds of up to 3,000 metres per second at a range of up to 100 kilometres.
The S-300V system is carried on tracked MT-T transporters, which gives it better cross-country mobility than even the S-300Ps on 8x8 wheeled transporters.
The performance characteristics of the S-300V4 exceed 1.5-2.3 times the capacity of the preceding, third modification of the system.
In the firing range and other parameters it is close to the S-400 "Triumph" characteristics owing to the introduction of new components, hardware and computing facilities.

Intégration du Su-30MKI (rebaptisé Su-30SM) au sein des VVS à hauteur d'une trentaine d'appareils (livraison à partir de 2015).

April 11, 2012: The Russian Air Force has ordered thirty Su-30SM fighters, to be delivered by 2015. This is the first Su-30 model for the Russian Air Force that uses thrust vectoring (the ability of the engine to direct its exhaust a bit and enhance maneuverability). The Su-30SM is a variant of the 38 ton Su-30MKI, which is exported to India.
Both aircraft are most similar to the two seat American F-15E fighter-bomber. The Su-30MKI, even though equipped with Western electronics, costs less than $40 million each, about half what an equivalent F-15 costs. The Su-30MKI can carry more than eight tons of bombs and hit targets over 1,500 kilometers away. The Su-30SM is believed to be very similar in capabilities and price. Apparently the Russians were so impressed with the Indian experience with the Su-30MKI that they decided to get something similar for themselves.
