An Iranian Air Force training plane crashed in the central province of Isfahan on Sunday, injuring two people on board.
The PC-7, a light trainer aircraft, took off from Martyr Babaei Airbase near the city of Isfahan.
The crash occurred at 12:20 p.m. local time due to a technical failure.
The aircraft touched the ground near the village of Zafarqand, along a road between the cities of Naeen and Ardestan.
The two people on board the plane have sustained injuries.
The Pilatus PC-7 Turbo Trainer is a low-wing tandem-seat aircraft, capable of basic training functions including aerobatics, instrument, tactical and night flying. It was introduced in 1978.

Iran receives new batch of Russian S-300 air defense systems. On the road was spotted the new 30N6E2 multifunctional illumination and guidanceradar (x-band).
The first battalion was shown off by the Iranian military at the National Army Day parade in Tehran on April 17, six days after the receipt of the system.
According to the original contract, Moscow and Tehran signed for the delivery of five battalion sets of S-300 PMU1 air defense missile systems in 2007.
The S-300PMU1 mobile multichannel ADMS is designed to provide highly efficient defense for the most important political, administrative, economic, and military facilities against air attacks; attacks by strategic cruise, air ballistic, tactical, and theater ballistic missiles and other air offense systems in difficult tactical environments and in situations with heavy radio jamming.

Onze "rebelles kurdes" et trois combattants des Gardiens de la révolution ont été tués lors d'affrontements armés près de la frontière avec le Kurdistan irakien, a rapporté mardi l'agence Fars citant un responsable de l'armée d'élite d'Iran.
"Un groupe de onze contre-révolutionnaires liés au Parti démocrate du Kurdistan d'Iran (PDKI, ndlr) dissout, qui voulaient s'infiltrer dans le pays ont été repérés (...) et ont été éliminés après dix jours de poursuites dans la région de Sarvabad", a déclaré le général Mohammad Hossein Rajabi, commandant des Gardiens de la révolution (armée d'élite d'Iran) de la province iranienne du Kurdistan. Il a ajouté que "trois membres locaux des forces des Gardiens de la révolution" avaient été tués.
Le PDKI est le plus ancien parti kurde iranien et réclame l'autonomie du Kurdistan d'Iran. Il a été interdit au lendemain de la révolution islamique de 1979 et mène depuis une lutte armée contre le pouvoir iranien. Dimanche, les autorités avaient fait état de cinq "rebelles armés" tués par les Gardiens de la révolution dans cette même région. Le général Rajabi n'a pas précisé si ces cinq rebelles font partie du nouveau bilan de onze rebelles tués ou bien s'ils s'y ajoutent.
Le commandant de l'armée de terre des Gardiens de la révolution, le général Mohammad Pakpour, a menacé dimanche d'intervenir contre les bases des groupes armés dans le nord de l'Irak. "En cas de non respect des engagements pour empêcher ces attaques, leurs bases seront visées où qu'elles soient", avait-il déclaré.
L'Iran était intervenu en 2011 contre les bases des groupes rebelles kurdes iraniens dans la région du Kurdistan irakien après des attaques contre son territoire. Ces groupes s'étaient alors engagés à déplacer leurs camps plus à l'intérieur des terres irakiennes et à ne pas mener d'opérations contre l'Iran.
Les autorités du Kurdistan irakien s'étaient engagées à maintenir les groupes kurdes iraniens loin de la zone frontalière avec l'Iran.
Depuis la mi-juin, on assiste à une recrudescence des actions armées dans cette région. Le 16 juin, les Gardiens de la révolution avaient déjà fait état de la mort de douze "terroristes" et de trois militaires iraniens lors d'affrontements similaires à Oshnavieh, un peu plus au nord.
Quelques jours plus tôt, les autorités avaient également fait état de la mort de dix "terroristes" -- cinq rebelles kurdes et cinq jihadistes -- et d'un policier dans deux accrochages dans le nord-ouest et le sud-est de l'Iran.
Iran to receive second batch of S-300 Air Defense System According to Tasnim News, Iran will take delivery of the second batch of Russia’s S-300 surface-to-air missile defense system in a near future, a report said.
The Russian government reportedly plans to deliver the second consignment of the S-300 PMU 2 defense system to Iran soon, a report said.
Back in February, Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Hossein Dehqan said, under a contract signed between Iran and Russia, the missile system will be delivered to Iran in two parts.
Iran took delivery of the first consignment of the defense system in mid-April.
On April 17, Iran displayed part of the Russian-made S-300 air defense missile system in a military parade in Tehran, held to mark the National Army Day.
The gear unveiled in the ceremony included 2 radar systems of S-300, its carrier and command vehicles as well as the crane for lifting its missiles.
Iran has been long waiting to receive the air defense missile system it had purchased from Russia in 2007.

Les essais de missiles balistiques iraniens de mars dernier "ne correspondent pas à l'esprit constructif" de l'accord nucléaire signé par Téhéran avec les grandes puissances, a expliqué le secrétaire général de l'Onu Ban Ki-moon dans un rapport destiné au Conseil de sécurité. Mais dans ce document confidentiel que l'AFP a pu consulter vendredi, M. Ban laisse au Conseil de sécurité le soin d'en tirer les conclusions.
En particulier, il ne dit pas clairement si ces essais ont violé ou non les dispositions de l'accord nucléaire conclu en juillet 2015 à Vienne et entré en vigueur en janvier. Ni s'ils enfreignent la résolution 2231 de l'Onu qui en a repris les termes.
"Même s'il revient au Conseil de sécurité d'interpréter ses propres résolutions, je suis préoccupé par le fait que ces tirs de missiles balistiques ne correspondent à l'esprit constructif manifesté par la signature" de l'accord, souligne M. Ban dans ce rapport de 16 pages daté du 1er juillet. "Je suis préoccupé par les tirs de missiles balistiques effectués par l'Iran en mars 2016. J'invite l'Iran à s'abstenir de mener de tels tirs balistiques car ils risquent d'accroitre les tensions dans la région", ajoute M Ban. Il s'agit de son premier rapport sur l'application de la résolution, adoptée le 20 juillet 2015.
Le Conseil doit en discuter le 18 juillet mais des diplomates ne s'attendent à aucune décision ni même à aucune prise de position formelle des 15 pays. "Le rapport ne fait aucune recommandation", souligne un diplomate du Conseil. Ce document "est très utile mais c'est à nous qu'il revient de décider de ce que nous allons en faire".
A la suite des lancements balistiques iraniens début mars, Paris, Washington, Londres et Berlin -- quatre des signataires de l'accord nucléaire -- avaient affirmé dans une lettre conjointe que ces tirs "avaient été menés au mépris de la résolution 2231". Mais la Russie, membre permanent du Conseil doté du droit de veto, avait bloqué toute velléité d'imposer à l'Iran de nouvelles sanctions.
La résolution 2231 a entériné la levée de la plupart des sanctions internationales contre Téhéran. Mais elle a maintenu l'interdiction faite à l'Iran de tirer des missiles balistiques capables d'emporter des ogives atomiques. La résolution 2231 "appelle l'Iran à ne pas entreprendre d'activité liée aux missiles balistiques conçus pour être capables de lancer des armes nucléaires". Les pays occidentaux signataires de l'accord affirment que les tirs de mars appartiennent à ce type. L'Iran conteste cette interprétation et maintient que ses missiles ne sont pas concernés par la résolution.
La Russie s'est jusqu'ici alignée sur l'interprétation iranienne. Elle fait aussi valoir qu'il s'agit d'un simple "appel" lancé à Téhéran et non d'une interdiction formelle. M. Ban ne prend pas position sur ce point, soulignant qu'il n'a fait l'objet "d'aucun consensus" entre les pays du Conseil. Il note aussi que l'Iran affirme "n'avoir jamais cherché à acquérir des armes nucléaires" et ne pas disposer de missiles spécifiquement conçus pour un emport nucléaire.
M. Ban rappelle cependant que selon les Etats-Unis, des armes iraniennes destinées au Yémen ont été saisies en mars dans le Golfe d'Oman par la marine américaine. Il signale aussi qu'un commandant des Gardiens de la Révolution iraniens, le général Qasem Soleimani, s'est rendu en Irak en mai dernier, en violation d'une interdiction de voyager imposée par l'Onu.

The Favorit incorporates incrementally upgraded 30N6E2 Tomb Stone, NIIIP 64N6E2 Big Bird radars and a 54K6E2 command post, and the LEMZ 96L6E as its early warning and primary acquisition system, replacing the 36D6/ST-68UM Tin Shield and LEMZ 76N6E Clam Shell. While the system retains compatibility with earlier 48N6 missiles, a new extended 108 nautical mile range 46N6E2 missile was added.

Michelle Rollins told Sputnik in a written statement on Tuesday. "US Naval Forces Central Command deemed the interaction as safe, routine and professional and without incident."
US Navy forces are routinely approached by Iranian maritime forces as they operate in the region, with the majority of all interaction by the Iranians conducted in a safe and professional manner, the statement acknowledged.
CENTCOM head Gen. Joseph Votel was on board the New Orleans at the time, CNN said in an earlier report, noting that the small Iranian craft came within 500 yards of the warship.
The New Orleans is an amphibious transport dock warship that can carry up to 700 Marines. Such vessels are designed to transport troops into a war zone by sea, primarily using landing craft, although invariably they also have the capability to operate transport helicopters.

TEL AVIV -- An Israeli intelligence source confirmed Monday that a new unit of Afghan snipers trained by Lebanese-based Hizbollah and financed by Iran is now operating beyond its northern border on behalf of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
In a July 18 interview, the source said the sniper unit – part of the Afghan Fatemiyoun Brigade – is one of several additional groups of special forces that are being deployed in the fight against the Islamic State organization, also known by its Arabic acronym Da’esh.
“These Afghan Shias are battle-hardened and focused at the moment on fighting Da’esh. But we’re obviously following with interest any introduction of new forces and capabilities in that theater that may turn their attention to us when the time is right for them,” said the Israeli analyst, who insisted on anonymity because the interview did not take place through normal authorization channels.
The Israeli source validated reports earlier this month from Iran’s Tasnim, a news agency affiliated with the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRCG), that a new group of snipers specializing in camouflage and concealment tactics was now operational in Syria.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The 2016 International Army Games (IAG) will serve to strengthen relations with Russia and facilitate the exchange of experience between the countries' troops, the military commander of the Iranian delegation to the Elbrus Ring competition, Gen. Nuzar Nemati, said on Monday.
"We expect that this competition will strengthen relations between Russia and Iran, and the exchange of experience will continue," Nemati told reporters.
Russia, China, Iran and Kazakhstan are taking part in the 10-day Elbrus Ring contest, which started on August 1. The competition consists of 14 special tasks, including climbing the 18,510-foot high Elbrus Mountain.
The Russian team is tipped to win the competition, 'however, the level of mountain training of all the teams participating in the contest is at a very high professional level," Nemati added. After 12 of the special tasks, the Iranian team is in fourth place, while the Russian team is in the lead, followed by the Chinese and Kazakh teams.
The international stage of the contest will wrap up on August 11.
Russia is currently hosting the IAG, which started on July 30. The event features competitions in 23 disciplines. A total of 121 teams from 19 countries from across the world are taking part in the IAG which are being monitored by observers from 11 countries.

The long range bombers with full bomb payload took off from Hamadan Airfield to attack Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS) and Al-Nusra Front facilities in Aleppo, Deir-ez-Zor and Idlib provinces.
The strikes have eliminated five major terrorist weapons depots and training compounds in the area as well as three command posts and a big number of terrorists, the Russian Defense Ministry said.
The long-range bombers were covered by Su-30sm and Su-35s jet fighters which took off from Russia’s Khmeimim Airbase in Syria.
The number of military aircraft deployed at Hamadan Airbase has not been disclosed.
Al-Masdar website was the first to publish photos of at least three Tu-22M3 bombers and Il-76 military transport jets in Iran.

L'Iran a montré pour la première fois dimanche son nouveau système de défense anti-aérien Bavar 373, construit localement et comparable au S-300 russe, témoignant de sa détermination à développer ses capacités militaires malgré les inquiétudes de l'Occident.
Les images diffusées par les différents médias iraniens ont montré le président Hassan Rohani et son ministre de la Défense Hossein Dehghan lors de la cérémonie dévoilant le nouveau système, un projet qui avait été lancé à l'époque où l'Iran subissait encore les sanctions internationales.
Le général Dehghan avait annoncé en mai "l'entrée en production du système Bavar 373" en expliquant qu'il était "capable de détruire des missiles de croisière, des drones, des avions de combat et des missiles balistiques".
Ce système est aussi "capable de détruire plusieurs cibles à la fois", avait-il ajouté.
L'Iran a décidé de se lancer dans ce projet lorsque la Russie avait suspendu en 2010 un contrat conclu trois ans plus tôt pour la livraison du système S-300 à cause des sanctions.
Celles-ci avaient été imposées par l'Occident et l'ONU pour pousser Téhéran, accusé de chercher à se doter de l'arme nucléaire, à cesser ses activités nucléaires sensibles.
La conclusion en juillet 2015 d'un accord nucléaire historique entre l'Iran et les grandes puissances, dont les Etats-Unis, avait permis la levée progressive des sanctions après que Téhéran s'est engagé à garantir la nature exclusivement pacifique de son programme nucléaire via notamment une réduction drastique de ses capacités.
Dans ce contexte, Moscou a de nouveau autorisé le transfert des S-300 dont une partie a été livrée à l'Iran.
Cette livraison a été critiquée par les Etats-Unis et Israël qui a maintes fois menacé d'attaquer les installations nucléaires de l'Iran, son ennemi juré.
- Premier moteur turboréacteur -
Les Etats-Unis continuent d'imposer des sanctions à l'Iran, notamment à cause de son programme de missiles balistiques et son soutien à certains groupes comme le Hezbollah libanais ou des groupes palestiniens, qualifiés de "terroristes" par Washington.
Mais après la conclusion de l'accord nucléaire, entré en vigueur en janvier dernier, l'Iran a continué à développer ses capacités militaires et balistiques.
Vendredi, M. Dehghan avait réaffirmé l'intention de son pays de développer ses capacités balistiques. "Aujourd'hui, notre capacité balistique est telle que nous pouvons détruire les cibles à n'importe quelle distance".
Et le lendemain, il avait expliqué que le Bavar 373 avait "toutes les capacités du S-300".
Parallèlement aux images montrées sur le système Bavar 373, M. Rohani a également dévoilé le premier moteur turboréacteur construit par les ingénieurs de l'industrie de la Défense.
"La République islamique d'Iran fait partie des huit pays dans le monde qui maîtrisent la technologie pour la construction de ces moteurs", a affirmé de son côté M. Dehghan.
Selon lui, "ce premier moteur turboréacteur a une capacité de vol à une altitude de 50.000 pieds (...) et peut être installé sur des avions d'un poids maximum de 10 tonnes".
- Budget militaire doublé -
Avec ce turbo-réacteur nous avons fait "un grand pas" dans l'industrie militaire, a dit de son côté M. Rohani.
Sur le moteur, il y avait l'inscription "Ma mitavanim" ('Nous pouvons', en persan) qui rappelle le slogan de campagne du président américain Barack Obama ('Yes we can') mais aussi une phrase maintes fois utilisée par l'ex-président conservateur iranien Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
M. Rohani a souligné que son gouvernement avait "plus que doublé" le budget militaire cette année (mars 2016 - mars 2017) par rapport à la précédente pour augmenter les capacités défensives du pays.
Depuis la levée d'une partie des sanctions mi-janvier, l'Iran a pu augmenter ses exportations de pétrole et bénéficier de quelques investissements étrangers, mais les gros contrats, en particulier dans le secteur aéronautique avec Boeing et Airbus pour renouveler sa flotte d'avions vieillissants, attendent encore.
De plus, les Etats-Unis interdisent toujours toute transaction en dollar avec l'Iran et menacent de représailles les grandes banques internationales qui feraient affaire avec des personnalités ou entités iraniennes accusées notamment de soutien au "terrorisme" ou de "violations des droits de l'Homme".

Lieutenant Commander of the Iranian Ground Force Brigadier General Kioumars Heidari announced that his forces have been equipped with the home-made state-of-the-art tanks named ‘Karrar’ with features similar to the Russian T-90 tanks.
“Karrartanks have been delivered to the combat units of the Ground Force,” General Heidari told reporters in Tehran on Sunday.
He also underlined plans to mount new, advanced and state-of-the-art systems on Karrar and Zulfiqar tanks.
Asked about the Ground Force’s achievements in building anti-armored systems, General Heidari said, “We have modern and state-of-the-art equipment which can be used in proxy wars.”
Iran announced earlier this week that it has manufactured a new tank dubbed ‘Karrar‘ which is as deadly as the Russian T-90.
“The defense industry designed and built the new battle tank from scratch. If not better, it’s still as deadly as the Russian T-90,” Defense Minister Brigadier General Hossein Dehqan said in an interview with the state-run TV last Tuesday night.
His remarks came after Ground Force Commander Brigadier General Ahmad Reza Pourdastan said Iran was no longer interested in buying T-90 main battle tanks from Russia, and plans to supply its needs through domestic production.
“We were once interested in buying the Russian tanks. But since we can manufacture similar models within the country and we plan to do so in the near future, the deal is now off,” Pourdastan said last week.
According to him, Iran has enough capacity and techological know-how to produce new generation battle tanks and advanced military hardware, so it makes no sense to purchase them from elsewhere.

On the occasion of the National Defense Industry Day which falls on 21 August, the Iranian president visited Aerospace Industries Organization (AIO) at the Ministry of Defense to take a tour of the Ministry’s capabilities in various areas including fighter and civil aircraft, helicopters, drones as well as new technologies. Hassan Rouhani also observed the latest achievements and developments in these strategic arenas including design and construction phases of the first national turbojet aircraft.
Rouhani, who was accompanied by the Iranian Defense Minister Brig. Gen. Hossein Dehghan during the visit, also viewed various sections of Bavar-373 (meaning ‘Belief’) long-range mobile air defense system which has been designed and constructed by Iranian scientists and experts at AIO in collaboration with Khatam al-Anbia Air Defense Base as well as scientific and research centers of the country.
Bavar-373 uses a phased array radar like Russian 96L6 radar for tracking aerodynamic targets and ballistic missiles in medium to long ranges, mounted on the ZAFAR heavy truck.
