DCA: Minsk souhaite acquérir des missiles sol-air S-400 (officiel)
MINSK, 8 avril - RIA Novosti.

MINSK, 4 janvier - RIA Novosti

Belarus Adopts Domestically Developed Long-Range Radar
MINSK, January 10 (RIA Novosti) – The Belarusian army has commissioned a new domestically developed long-range radar as it phases out Soviet-era equipment, the country’s defense ministry said Friday.
“The Belarusian-made Vostok-D radar has been put on combat duty in electronic warfare units,” the ministry’s spokesman said.
The Vostok-D is a truck-mounted 2D surveillance radar that operates in the VHF band.
It has an effective range of 360 kilometers (224 miles) and boasts high target-detection capability, including against low-flying aircraft and unmanned aerial vehicles.
The Vostok-D has been designed to replace the Soviet-era P-18 (Spoon Rest D) radars currently in service with the Belarusian army.

MINSK, 30 janvier - RIA Novosti

Russia Gives Belarus Anti-Aircraft Systems Free of Charge
The Russian Defense Ministry has signed a contract to give Belarus four S-300 air defense systems, which are worth hundreds of millions of dollars, free of charge, a top Russian military official told ITAR-Tass on Thursday.
The S-300 is one of the world's most sought after air defense systems. Its radar can hone in on aircraft, cruise missiles and even ballistic missiles, and destroy targets as far away as 150 kilometers, launching one missile every three seconds.
The S-300s will be handed over as soon as the Belarussian Defense Ministry signs the contact, said Konstantin Biryulin, deputy director of the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation.
Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu first told reporters about the planned deal in October 2013, saying that both sides were looking to beef up their joint air defense system, which was created as part of a 2009 agreement between Moscow and Minsk.
Minsk is not stopping at the S-300s, however, having recently agreed to buy four Yak-130 combat training aircraft from Moscow, and an unspecified number of Tor-M2 air defense systems, Biryulin said.
Iran has been trying to buy S-300s from Russia for years, but to no avail.
An $800-million-purchase of five S-300s by Iran was halted in 2010 by then-President Dmitry Medvedev, who was worried that the deal would tarnish Russia's image at a time when the United Nations was imposing sanctions on Tehran to pressure it into abandoning its nuclear ambitions.

Russia to Deliver Four S-300 Missile Complexes to Belarus by Year's End: Defense Minister
Updated 4:14 p.m. Moscow time
MINSK, October 29 (RIA Novosti) – Russia will deliver four S-300 surface-to-air missile systems to Belarus by the end of this year, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said Wednesday.
"If we speak about the summary for 2014, then this year we will finalize the delivery of four S-300 Zenit missile systems that will be handed over [to Belarus]. I think they'll enter into the Belarus military service in 2015," Shoigu said during a meeting with his Belarusian counterpart in Minsk.
The contract for the supply of four S-300 systems to Belarus was signed in July.
S-300 is a family of air defense missile systems capable of engaging aerial targets from helicopters to cruise and ballistic missiles.
The systems are capable of simultaneously tracking up to 100 targets while engaging 12 at a range of up to 200 kilometers (124 miles) and a height of up to 27 kilometers (nearly 17 miles).

Russia Plans to Deliver New Aircraft to Belarus Air Base: Defense Minister
Russian Defense Minister said Tuesday that the country is going to increase the number of airplanes and helicopters at its planned airbase in Belarus scheduled to be opened in 2016.
MOSCOW, December 23 (Sputnik) – Russia will increase the number of airplanes and helicopters at its base to be opened in Belarus, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said Tuesday during a meeting with his Belarusian counterpart Andrei Ravkov.
“I’m ready to continue our discussion of cooperation on a practical basis today. This is in regard to the S-300 [anti-aircraft missile system], as well as the creation and basing of [our] aviation in Belarus by increasing the number of airplanes and helicopters. This should provide for the security of our common airspace,” Shoigu said.
The Russian airbase is to be opened near the city of Bobruisk in 2016. Neither defense minister specified the amount of hardware to be based there.
In October, a highly-ranked Air Force official said Su-27 (Flanker) fighter aircraft would be based at the new complex.
"A Russian Air Force Base in Belarus will be opened in 2016 and Su-27 fighters will be based there," Col.-Gen. Viktor Bondarev said.
In October Shoigu stated that the two countries will expand their military drills program in 2015 due to the changing situation on the borders and in the world as a whole. The Minister spoke of "new threats" to the Union State [a supranational entity of Russia and Belarus] as a reason for such expansion.
Following Crimea's reunification with Russia in March, NATO increased its military presence in Poland and the Baltic States. Russia has repeatedly expressed concern over the increased military presence of the alliance in bordering countries.

Belarus to get four Yak-130 aircraft in April
MALAYSIA, 18 March (BelTA) – Belarus will get four combat and training aircraft Yak-130 in April, BelTA learned from Oleg Demchenko, President of Irkut Corporation.
“We are going to deliver four Yak-130 aircraft to Belarus in April,” said Oleg Demchenko during the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA) 2015 in Malaysia.
BelTA reported earlier that Minsk expects the first wing of the combat and training aircraft Yak-130 to be delivered by the end of March. The contract on buying these aircraft was signed in late 2012. Belarus is the first CIS country to buy Yak-130.
Oleg Demchenko also mentioned plans to supply four jet fighters Su-30SM to Astana. “So in April we will export eight aircraft: four for Kazakhstan and four for Belarus,” he specified.
Speaking about plans to sell aircraft to other CIS states, the Irkut Corporation head mentioned they were in negotiations with Armenia and Uzbekistan.
Yak-130 (NATO designation – Mitten) is designed to offer combat training to pilots and can be used to attack aerial and ground targets. The aircraft is meant to train pilots to fly combat aircraft of the four-plus generation and the fifth generation. The first Yak-130s took wing in 1996. In 2012 Yak-130 was chosen to be the main aircraft for training pilots for the Russian Air Force.

Belarus is negotiating the delivery of S-400 air defense missile systems from Russia. Belarus will deploy four batteries of air defense missile systems S-300 by the end of 2015 and is negotiating the delivery of air defense missile systems S-400 from Russia, BelTA learned from an interview of Belarusian Defense Minister, Lieutenant-General Andrei Ravkov with the Russian news agency TASS.
“As part of the creation of the united regional air defense system the air defense units located in Grodno Oblast, Brest Oblast, and Vitebsk Oblast will get four batteries and a command station of air defense missile systems S-300PS in 2015,” specified the Belarusian Defense Minister. He noted that the delivery of air defense missile systems S-400 is being discussed but it is premature to talk about any specific timeframe.
The Minister underlined that Belarus-Russia cooperation in military technology develops dynamically and Russia is Belarus' main partner in matters relating to the acquisition of defense products, repair and modernization of weapons and military hardware. He also noted that many military products are supplied by Russia on preferential terms on the basis of the Belarus-Russia agreement on advancing military technology cooperation.
According to Andrei Ravkov, in 2014-2015 about 50 contracts were signed on preferential terms. The contracts envisage the delivery, repair, and modernization of air defense missile systems, communication systems, electronic warfare systems, infantry weapons and artillery systems, ammunition, and aviation technology assets for the Belarusian army.
Andrei Ravkov noted that they always come to terms with Russian colleagues thanks to the mutual understanding of the importance of the tasks that are being accomplished to ensure the defensive capability of the Union State of Belarus and Russia.

Belarus orders more Yak-130 aircraft
Nicholas de Larrinaga, London - IHS Jane's Defence Weekly 12 August 2015
Belarus has ordered new combat aircraft from Russia, the commander of Belarus' Air Force and Air Defence Forces has stated.
Major General Oleg Dvigalev told reporters that the country has signed two contracts for four Yakolev Yak-130 'Mitten' trainer/strike aircraft and confirmed than an order for 12 Mil Mi-8MTV-5 'Hip' helicopters had been signed in June, the BelTA news agency reported on 12 August.
The order for four Yak-130s will bring the country's total to eight aircraft, following the delivery of four Yak-130s ordered in 2012 to Belarus in April. Maj Gen Dvigalev stated that "four instructor pilots are already preparing the 116th assault air base to fly the Yak-130", adding that "about 10 pilots will be prepared this year". He noted that by 2020 the Yak-130 will have entirely replaced the Aero Vodochody L-39 Albatross in Belorussian service.
Maj Gen Dvigalev noted that in addition to the two procurement contracts, the country has signed contracts for the repair and overhaul of six Mi-24 'Hind' combat helicopters and their engines, and the overhaul of one of Belarus' Ilyishin Il-76 'Candid' transport aircraft. Additionally the country has completed the overhaul of an Antonov An-26 'Curl' transport aircraft, a Mi-26 'Halo' helicopter, and the engines for eight of its MiG-29 'Fulcrum' fighter aircraft that are being overhauled. Two L-39s and two Su-25UBK 'Frogfoot' strike aircraft are also currently being overhauled.
The M-8MTV-5 is Kazan Helicopters' latest version of the 'Hip' (and the rival to the Ulan-Ude Aviation Plant's Mi-8AMTSh) and is typically powered by Klimov VK-2500 engines, features updated avionics, and can be fitted with a range of armaments, electronic protection suites, ballistic protection, electro-optic/infrared turrets and modern navigational equipment. In Belorussian service the new helicopters are intended for both transport and fire support, indicating that they will be armed.
